Review: 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing (Manual + Auto)

  • I drive the new Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing both on track and on the road in both manual and automatic transmissions to see how the successor to the ATS-V measures up. With a twin-turbo V6, rear wheel drive and a manual transmission, the Blackwing is a rare combo that only the BMW M3 can match these days. But starting at just $60,000, the CT4 Blackwing is 10k less expensive, making it an enthusiast's bargain no matter how you look at it. Then you add in the greatly improved interior, the track-ready capability, sharp and agile handling and great sounding exhaust, and you have a very desirable car that won't be offered much longer as gasoline performance cars slowly fade into the history books. Get them while you can and enjoy them while you can! What do you think of the CT4V Blackwing? Thanks to Cadillac for providing me with this opportunity!

@@richardnavratil9661 I was talking to the original commenter. But I would get a manual in something like a corolla to learn how to use it. But in a performance car, I'd get an automatic. I can understand getting manuals than auto in cars prior to 2010 considering they were better than automatics, but now automatics are much better and I like going fast, remote start, and automatic cooled seats by the time I get in the car when I activate remote start in houston

      @@blackice7408 I gotcha.
Yeah I can get that point. To me engagement is almost always more important than these convenience features, but I can understand not everyone feels that way. I think lot of enthusiasts would gladly give up .5 second in 0-60 or any sort of comparison performance test like that for more engagement, but I might be wrong.

I appreciate the active rev matching being turned off by default. Typically it is the other way around, because sales people want you to have a "nice" experience. It seems that they really went after the "Drivers" this time but with the ability to make it more comfortable on demand.
I really think that is the most correct way to approach a vehicle of this class!

    • @horvathr95
      @horvathr95 2 года назад

To save the manuals tho they should have done the other way. Those who like performance cars with a stick and looking for a new car will buy it either way, but people who are not that experienced with manuals, and want to learn them, might need that feature to save them from crashing into the first pole they find on the road. And if they forget to switch it on then it will eventually happen to them.

@@horvathr95 They will crash into a pole because they did not have the auto rev match on??? Are you sane?
Not to mention that this feature is utterly useless in daily (legal speed) driving and will only hinder learning. It auto rev match is what is stopping you from getting a manual, then oyu should not be buying a manual and probably have more concerns with driving in general.
Please be reminded that auto rev match =/= anti-stall.

A used one costs almost as much as the base MSRP of a 2022!! I was planning on a 2018 ATS-V but for $10K more may as well buy a new one exactly the way I want. Everyone on Earth knows this is going to be the last gas manual transmission sedans available on the planet. I HAVE to buy one even if it means giving up one of my other cars; there will never be any after this.

The ATS-V with the same fully forged LF4 that always had the same titanium connecting rods. There's nothing changed. It's still the same badass LF4 platform that Cadillac shelved until they seen us ATS-V owners putting down 700whp with minimal upgrades and drag racing the crap out of the with zero issues. Call it what it is Matt, the same exact engine made in 2015 that was way ahead of its time!

I think I'm going to try to make one of these happen before they disappear, and while my last two cars have been manuals (and would love one of these manual), the auto may be the one olive branch that gets my better half onboard 😅. Would rather settle for an auto than not have this in my life, and will give me a chance to work on my left foot braking for track work 👍. Glad that the auto compromise is as minimal as possible

I've been in the market for a Challenger Hellcat Widebody 6-speed, but Dodge has dragged their feet for close to a year now and still no clue if/when you can order one. I'm running out of patience and I want a cool manual transmission car. That excludes the Corvette, GT500, and Jaguar F-Type R. This is a SERIOUS contender for my money. All of the Hellcat/Challenger/Demon are built on a 20 yr old Mercedes chassis. All weight over 4,200 lbs. And regularly get smoked by GM/Ford/European/japanese Sports cars because it's all Marketing.

To be honest, practically no one who buys this car will be tracking it. I had great “track cars” and never had the time for it. This car is a luxury car at the end of the day, and its a big fat sedan. There is no shame in getting it in an automatic. If you want a stick shift sports coupe, get a porsche. This car is a cruiser than can get athletic when it needs to, and for those of us who drive in heavy traffic the automatic is the necessary choice so I am glad you showcased it in this video. Probably sealed the deal for me just not sure about 7 grand for carbon fiber lips 🤔

Really love the design of this model. I'd be on it if not for having an E60 with 0 payments.

I don't think it'll be going down value, it's the last gas manual v cars from Cadillac , the next generation v cars will be all electric.

@@Sube-Tube Yes, the CT4-V & CT5-V Blackwings are the last ICE Cadillac’s. The upcoming Cadillac’s will be all-electric, including the Blackwings. Also, the CT4 & CT5 will not be replaced in the near future, only EV sedan in the lineup is the Celestiq and the “low roof” vehicle, which could be a coupe.

Lol you can't even buy a 6-year old Chevy SS for 30k. Especially with the manual they won't sell tons of these. Values will dip a bit while they're still on sale and then float for 5-10 years after they're discontinued with no replacement before they start rising.

Really cool car in general, I'm just not a fan of the back. Either it's the trunk lid or the taillights, not sure.
