- Autoglym v Meguiars v Turtle Wax v Triplewax - Battle of the High Street
In this video, we put 4 of the most popualr car polishes found on the high street, through their paces. From Autoglym we have their famous Super Resin Polish. From Meguiars it's their 3 in 1 wax. Turtle Wax have supplied their Renew Polish, and from Triplewax we have a product simply called Car Polish. Which will win?

Brilliant video,Iam in my 70's & been in the motor trade, for over 10yrs,I have used all of these & found Auto-Glym the one for me,keep up the good work 👍👍👍👍👍
Very cool!
I remember years ago having my metro turbo repainted and getting it back with an almost glass finish pretty amazing for a £100 spray job done in my neighbor's garage built from old doors turned out he'd used t-cut and pledge.
OMG metro turbo i remember them
🤣
I've seen people used Pledge/Mr Sheen before 🤣
@@TheDetailingSpace yes it actually soaks into the paint somehow makes any touch up impossible
🤣
Autoglym would be my first choice. It seems to be the best value for money and does a great job. As you rightly said tho - all the products you used seemed to have a plus quality really.
👍
Easy to use
I’ve used nothing but Autoglym for 30 years so the super resin polish definitely gets my vote
👍
Very good comparison. Well done that man! For me would have to be the Autoglym. Iv just watched neighbour polish his car with the Autoglym Super resin polish and I'm envious!
Thanks! 👍
Autoglym SRP for me out of these products, megs always seems overpriced to me. Great video, thanks!
👍
Always had a bottle of Autoglym SRP on the shelf as an old faithful...it's great value for money and you don't need as much as you think so lasts ages. Cheers for another great video. Stay safe everyone.
Definately one of those items everyone seems to have on their shelves
As many others have said Autoglym over Meguiars due to the price difference. Would like to give the meguiars a try, but for the money I think it’s a bit much. Usually get good results with SRP and also add WAX over it
👍
AG srp everyday of the week, easy to work with and great results, there's a reason that this stuff has been around for years 👍
👍
I cant stand it. Stuffs way to dusty for me
👍
Great, thorough review Mat. I've used Super Resin Polish for years and would still go for that out of the four. Used to dust like mad years ago, then Autoglym changed the formula and has been much better since. I also Prefer to use a seperate wax so the Meguiars is a no from me and also way too expensive.
Thanks for the info!
Great video! Very comprehensible information and overview. I myself swear by autoglym srp but on the strength of your reviews in this video i would consider the Meguires product despite the price
Glad it was helpful!
Autoglym SRP never fails me meguires is to overpriced unless halfords have it on offer.
👍
Auto Glym all the way !!!! A decent no rip off price and left my silver FType's paintwork looking like new.
👍
Out of the four I'd buy the Autoglym. I think it's the best overall for price, finish and filling. Used it for many years and keep going back to it as my go to polish. I think the Meguiars one is probably a good all rounder but the price is way too much for what it is compared to similar products on the market.
👍
Autoglym SRP is my choice for no other reason than it has always worked for me, plus i think its a reasonable cost. Ultimately i just like to use a polish every now and again and thats what counts. Thanks for the useful comparison review.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for a great vid..
I have been "washing" cars since I was knee high to a grasshopper.. but only recently after buying a new car got into detailing..
I have watched tons of RUclips vids on detailing but only subscribed to a few.. I have found all of your videos very informative and helpful..
This video was particularly interesting because buying a wax I've always gone for Turtle wax but after watching this vid I will now be buying Meguiars 3 in 1..
It seems like I am becoming a big Meguiars fan has I've bought and love their Ultimate All wheel cleaner and also their detailing spray.. So yes.. Maguire's 3 in 1 Wax for me..
Thanks again Mat.
Thank you. Glad you like the video and the channel overall 👍
I still use SRP as a base coat for the UHD wax. It's a white car but it does help to make it blindingly white. I "fondly" remember over applying SRP to my first car in the baking sun. That car was black, and riddled with swirls. It did make the black pop though as well as giving me forearms as big as Hulk Hogans when came to buffing it off
haha, I remember doing similar on my second car when I was 18/19. Black car, too much product and buffing off for what felt like an eternity.
I would go for the Autoglym because of the value and quality of this product. Meguiars is obviously a good polish, but would I pay nearly 3 times as much as my selection ... not a chance!
But, at the same time, you'd be waxing. So save on extra products and save on time.
Autoglym SRP, consistently good.
👍
Great video as usual, the best on RUclips that everyone can relate too.I would and do flip between Autoglym and Meguiar’s, I’m a Marketing company’s dream, always looking for the newest and best. I’ve recently tried Meguiar’s and Turtle Wax’s ceramic range but I quite often return to Autoglym Super Resin Polish, mainly became it is so,so easy to apply and remove.
Thanks for sharing!
SRP is one of those products that we all have in our garages for years then when all the fancy 'scene' products have run out we use it and marvel at how good the car looks after application before putting the bottle back on the shelf for another two years. 😁
👍
Sorry whats SRP
Used autoglym for years and its never let me down, BUT meguiars is good stuff.
turtlewax is really great if you want to give it a quick going over. as you said great for working in direct sunlight
👍
Awesome video great production as always! I’d go autoglym for myself a trusted brand in my household and very nostalgic for me back when I was a weekend warrior before I started detailing! Keep giving the awesome content! Fingers crossed for the prize
Thank you 👍
Out of the four SRP for me Matt, been using it for nearly 30 years and always pleased with its ease of use and results.👍🏻
👍
Thanks Mat, another great review that leaves the viewer to make their own mind up depending on their budget and performance required. I’d probably buy the Autoglym as the Meguiars seems quite expensive.
My pleasure!
Autoglym SRP is just a classic yes not the best these days with so many other readily availible products but will always be my off the shelf go to brand for any of the range.
👍
I remember when Mer was very popular and I loved it. Till the day I did a "wash and rinse" using it and found I couldn't get the water spots off without serious work. But as a neat polish it was great. Seems to have fallen out of favour though,
Yeah, I remember those days.... We stock it at work (in the new black packaging). Still grab a bottle now and again.
Awesome video, appreciate the thorough review. I didn't know about the Meguiars wax at all, so very intrigued to test it. Also I'm a size Medium so perfect for the giveaway 👌🏼😂
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid Mat , any chance of doing other polishes like ,Mer, Greased lightning showroom shine , Simoniz ect just to see if they are actually any good.👍
Possibly. I had planned on doing something like a "boutique" polishing video - someone you'd usually only buy online such as Dodo Juice, Stjarnagloss, Detailed Online etc.
Hi Mat, brilliant video, great review on the polishes, the polish I'm using at the moment is the 3 in1 by Meguiars,I do find this amazing stuff.
Thanks for the info!
Cool video mate, I’d go for the meguiars! I like the idea of removing some imperfections while applying some protection 👌🏼
Thanks 👍
Another great video Mat. It would be between Autoglym & Meguiars for me. If I had to chose then it would probably be Autoglym, simply because I like to apply a wax separate.
👍
I'd buy Turtle Wax, and some form of wax protection over the top of that. It might work out more cost effective than the others. Interesting review, nicely balanced and informative.
Great idea
Very professional video, autoglym all the way as my friend demonstrated it to me and it removed a big scuff mark on my newish Yaris. Was amazing. Would love any freebie in theses sad times 🙄
Ah, but did he remove it or fill it? 😉
Check this video out showing the effect of SRP on scuffs
ruclips.net/video/u5ciK0MZgM0/видео.html
Nothing wrong if he filled, but just expect it to appear again after a few washes.
@@TheDetailingSpace he only used the polish, it must of only been a light scratch as I've washed it twice and it's not appeared 😎
It would have to be Autoglym for me but I would give Maguires 3/1 a go and keep up the good work through these hard times and keep safe to you and your family
Thanks for voting
I've never used that turtle wax but in my experience abrasive products leaving hazing can be a sign of them not being worked in enough. Normally I will work a product in until it breaks down into an oily residue to ensure that the abrasives have been broken down as much as possible. Just some food for thought!
Cheers. TBH, I used it as the average user would. Very rare I do any hand polishing these days, usually grab the machine to remove swirls etc
@@TheDetailingSpace no worries mate, wasn't having a go at you! Just something that I've noticed. So often with these kind of products it's about how you use them as much as anything and I'm always a big proponent of trying different techniques with a product before writing it off, but that is from a consumers perspective and appreciate theres no easy way you could put all the different factors into one test and have the video be under an hour long!
If I needed to give a car a quick polish by hand it would have to be Meguires as it offers cleaning and protection. If I wanted to get rid of swirls and defects I would want to use a DA and a compound followed by refining with a polish and then protection with wax or coating But the need to sometimes do a quick job means you have to try something like 3 in 1
👍
Brought back to this video as Ive just seen triplewax in asda for £3! I really enjoy the triplewax. It's not dissimilar to autoglym SRP in my experience, fills well and perfectly reasonable to apply and remove. Like most products, if you use it like you would an expensive product, it will perform like one. Madness to think that for that price you'd buy 3 bottles for the price of 1 SRP, and probably about 10 for one bottle of the Megs. When you factor that in, surely it must be the winner overall as it performs similarly to the others but is so much less expensive!
I have a 16 plate Ranger Wildtrak in metallic black ,my wife has a shadow black Focus and my daughter has a metallic black Fiesta so you can imagine what it's like for myself to keep them looking lush as all 3 do ,I tryed a few different brands but hand on heart I find Autoglym works the best for me ,not had to use polish as the paint work on them are great but they do look dirtier faster,I only use snow foam then jet wash followed by a blast with shampoo and a 5 mit contact wash method and then a aqua wax treatment ,the only bucket I use is to put all my dirty mitts and cloths in ready to pop them in the washing machine, takes up to 4 hours per vehicle inside and out, but when all the neighbours heads turn you know it's worth owning a black vehicle and worth the hard work 🤙
glutton for punishment having all those black cars 🤣
@@TheDetailingSpace best looking car to have when clean ,only lazy pp say they hate black cars lol stay safe😂
My second car was black and had an amazing flake to it. Always said I'd never have another black car, mainly because I do love a bright coloured car.... Now and again though, I do wish I had one to have looking binging.... For 5 seconds until it gets covered in dust again 😂
Another great video Mat. I would get Autoglym, I think Meguiars is good just a bit expensive for most people's budget.
Fair enough!
Autoglym srp and topped off with egp probably one of the best combos out there for the average diyer.
Nice 👍
Great vid I would have the meguiars as I have hardly any meguiars compound or polish left in my bottles due to covid👍
👍
Ive been using Turtle wax on my black car and im not impressed with it. Ill go for the AutomGlym next for sure.. good video.
Give it a try 👍
I remember helping my brother polish his turd brown montego in 89 with ag srp I have used it lots over the years. Would try a cheaper polish with a wax on top. So ag for me but would try oathers!!!!!!
"turd brown".... Ah, the colour pallete of the 80s
It did polish up well, so I guess you can polish a turd!!!!
Awesome video, loved the comparison of them all especially if you've got a low budget to keep the car clean and shiny.
It'd be SRP for me, been using it for about 14 years now (not the same bottle tho ;-) I'm a bit stuck in my ways but wouldn't mind trying something new :-)
👍
Hi Matt, good video with an interesting approach, thankyou and well done.
Out of the four products you tested, it's got to be Auto Glym's SRP based on value and overall performance. As you say it needs something on top but that can add some gloss.
I wouldn't always choose Auto Glym for other types of product though.
Next up, a similar video or tyre dressings?
Stay safe.
Thanks for the info!
SRP would be my choice out of the 4 and actually have a bottle in the garage for doing the caravan. Might try it out on the car and see how it gets on.
👍
Another good video Mat. Thank You for taking time out to do them. Cool hat too, where ya get it from? Just got my Obsessed K7 tst kit. luv it :))))))
I got it from Kranzle 😁
Cheers mate
Whilst I've got some SRP on my shelf I think I'd like to try the Meguiars product the most out of these! Keep it up!
Will do 👍
Out of the four I would buy Autoglym as it performs well and is reasonably priced.
👍
Probably the Autogylm ; kind of in the middle Matt ,
Nothing wrong with the budget products not every 1 has money
To throw at there car but still would like it looking good ✨cheers mark 🍺🇬🇧👍🏻
Totally agreed, for £6, they still do a decent job.
It’s been about 4 years since I hand polished, but it of the ones featured I’d go with the meguairs. For me I used to use sap, but was always cashing my tail on the dust. The less dust and not needing to wax after just clinches it for me, as well as the buff off. The new abrasives from Tw and Megs would be better for hand polishing swirls out, with a 50 quid Argos polisher would be better imho
👍
I just wish there was Tripple from AF in there too.. big fan of that.. second only bilt hamber cleanser polish which is my favourite..
TBH, it did cross my mind, but these 4 are the most common brands on the high street really. AF is still a little bit niche, even though they are in Halfords.
Great video, very interesting to see and appreciated the real world test. I've allways been a Meg man but can't fault the SRP. Toss up between the two for me but the SRP is half the price so for me that's the one to get. Especially considering you are nearly allways going to apply a wax over it anyway.
👍
Always liked Megs stuff . NXT was my goto for years . Got some AG here but rare I use it
Cool!
interesting video Mat srp for me evertime tried and tested for years top off with a good wax great
Glad you enjoyed it. Other than recording a video on the bonnet last year, and one on the neighbour's car, I haven't properly used SRP for abut 10 years. I might have to give a full car some AG treatment.
Great video, for me has to be auto glym, used it before never any trouble with it
👍
Autoglym looks kool always wanted to try the meguires
👍
SRP for the best price versus performance. Not much more gained by the more expensive Megs.
👍
Have tried SRP many years ago and quite liked it (never waxed after mind you) so I'd be trying the Megs 3 in 1. That price though - Ouch!
Yup, it is expensive. I did see it on Amazon for £25 yesterday though. Check the link in the description 👍
Hello. I would choose the Turtle Wax for the defect removal, followed by the Autoglym SRP for gloss and protection or the Meg's, if I wanted to pay double. Although I doubt if I'll ever do a hand polish again. Machine is much more effective.
Oh btw: Keep the clothes, just send me the Meg's polish to try out. 😋
Thanks for sharing!
I’d personally go for the AutoGlym as it’s way cheaper than the meguiars and a lot closer to the so called budget ones, as swirls is terrible on black cars would be perfect for my Black Polo GTI and the beading/sheeting was spot on close enough to the meguiars which is a wax anyway. And with the price difference between this and the meguiars you could pick yourself up a decent wax for protection that would be more than just the 3in1 wax by itself.... so AutoGlym wins for me. Meguiars still very good though
👍
I used to use SRP and and it was pretty decent
but not tried any of the others yet.
It is good TBH (along with the rest). Not sure why some give them a bad rep...
Would try most likely the Auto Glym.
👍
nice test but i would use the meguiars ultimate polish instead of the 3in 1 wax, i think it’s something more available at high street shops and also more similar to the other polishes in the test, and also use the same applicator, no problem for me but i’m sure someone will be mentioning it.
Thanks.... I almost did use the same applicator, but the reason I didn't is because realistically, if you bought that kit, that's the applicator you'd use.
Detailing World like i said i do get why you used it and it doesn’t make big difference to me, just to others i’m sure for what i’ve seen in comparison tests. thanks for the video and all the time and dedication you put in the each one of them. 👍🏼
Not at the end of the video yet but thinking turtle wax followed by ag srp might be a decent little combo by hand
👍
What did you think by the end?
@@TheDetailingSpace enjoyed the video, took me back to early days of cleaning my car. I'd still likely choose ag srp out of the 4 if had to pick one. Still keep a bottle in and its a very good glaze
Autoglym SRP for me; has been my go to for years.
No t-cut for comparison? That would have been interesting to see for the wire wool test.
Out of curiosity Matt, polishes tend to suggest not in direct sunlight. The downsides you observed seemed to be dust and ease of removal but not damage to the paint. Are those the only factors for applying in direct sunlight or is there any other negatives?
I think the instructions for direct sunlight are due to work time more than anything else.
I would probably go fo the SRP, however, I think Lime Prime is probably the best product in this category overall.
👍
I love a giveaway lol, As I said on the dodo polish one I’ve just ran out of super resin polish after having it for years so looking to add a new one! Willing to give meguires 3 in 1 a go!
👍
I've got the triple wax polish on hand and some ultimate compound. Would the triplewax be enough to remove the haze from using the compound?
Possibly. If in doubt, try in a small inconspicuous area
Hey dear turtle wax renew polish works it?
Hey?
do you use a resin polish before you wax? I'm clueless? So, AG super resin isnt a wax? Its a prep to wax? Help me out u guys? Tx
Yes, always polish before wax
if or i in the intro the Autoglym makes the pannel slick the bottle slide of the panel in no time
i would like to buy renew polish of turtle wax
and am aware of apply to much how hard it is to remove in turtle wax hot wax
and under Meguiars had ultimate wax and also want to buy 3 in one
👍
Great vid pal. Am I ok using colinite 845 insulator wax over srp. Also what's your advice on removing the dusty residue from srp that may have found itself on rubber and plastics such as scuttle panel?
I lambswool duster, or a blower if you have one. Failing that, I guess you could rinse the car again afterwards (does mean having to dry again etc).
Great Video Mat, Do you recomend me only use autoglym, or first autoglym and after son wax? Sorry for my inglish I'm spanish
Use whichever you like.... Autoglym seems to give the best swirl filling qualitie. After that, was with any shampoo you have.
@@TheDetailingSpace Ok, Thank you very much 👍🏻
No worries 👍
I have used AG for years, never had the cap fail (that means the bottle in the garage will now break), the AG SRP and some wax afterwards is less than the price of the Meguiars 3in1 other than only going over the car once are there any other benefits of getting Meguiars over Autoglym?
Thank you 👍
Over a year old video and still helping out :) out of curiosity how often should you polish your car ? Is there like a rule of thumb etc or after every car wash weekly etc ? Thank you 😊
Hand polishing? Twice a year maybe, 3 if you want...
Polish at the start of spring
Polish at the end of summer (ready for winter)
Polish half way between if you like
@@TheDetailingSpace Thank you for your reply Sir. Yes that’s correct for Hand Polishing.
Hope your day goes well.
No problem 👍
Let me just get something straight... 😌
Is the Turtle Wax Renew more of a compound than a polish?
And doesn't the Autoglym SRP add some shortterm protection or just fillers and silicone?
It would appear that the TW does have a touch of compound, and yes, the SRP may have some protection....
That was the point of this test, see how they differ. They are all sold as similar hand polishes
@@TheDetailingSpace Thanks. It all makes sense then. 😊
Poor old Turtle Wax. Think they will always have a bit of a poor rap. Autoglym for me on this one, but my go to at the moment is Auto finesse Triple3. Nice link to Jon on Forensics, btw 😉
Funnily enough, I went into this totally unbiased, but can only say what I experience on the day.... Seems like I gave them a hard time, but TBH, it did do ok in some cases, such as removing the wire wool marks (looked better than the camera shows).
I've got a question. What would be the best product to use to remove any old wax and or polish from my car. Also in your experience what is the best polish and wax products for black paint?
IPA or Panel Wipe will remove any existing wax/polish from your car. Or simply doing some decon with tar and iron removal will usually strip it./
Hi Mat..👍👋 hope your keeping well & safe.
Autoglym...❤️
Whats wrong with autoglym
I am!
Nothing 👍
Detailing World good 👍 thank you for all your videos.
The purdy channel absolutely nothing...one of the best if not the best..
Well done great job mate from Australia 🇦🇺 . Great page just discover it . What about Nu Finish . Reply please.
Thank you 👍
Hi Mat..
Great info and well presented channel 👍🏻..
I've always used G3 body prep shampoo, followed by Demon foam snow foam which I apply with a pressure washer snow Lance then wash this with a microfibre cloth then rinse with clean water. I then dry it off with a lather and polish it with G3 resin superwax. The car looks superb after this is carried out. Can I improve my technique and what are your opinions of the products listed?
Thanks
Thank you.... Nothing wrong with the G3 Shampoo, never used Demon Shine snow foam, but have used the Quick Detailer or whatever they sell it as (pink stuff).
Hi, Micky.
I don't know your products, but generally speaking, I would do this:
- Rinse
- Pretreat and/or foam
- Rinse
- Shampoo handwash
- Rinse
- Dry/Protect
At the very least I would get a microfibre washmitt for the handwash and a bucket of water to clean it after each panel. 😊
👍
If I had to use one probably be the turtle wax with no protection because I like to go polish then wax
Nice shout
What's your opinion of Williams waterless wash & wax as it always looks good on the shopping channel
Never used it, sorry.
Ok thanks for the reply
I used autoglym super resin polish found it easy to apply but didn’t think it improved the paint much, I applied the extra gloss after and that brought it up a bit more and the beading was sensational but it was a ball ache to take off! I used auto finesse tripple and I’d say the was better overall weighing up the results vs the effort to take on and off (not lazy 😂)
👍
Autoglym tried and tested for years...
👍
If it’s good enough for turtles it’s good enough for me. You never see a rusty Turtle
haha, that's true 🤣
Autoglym for me. Megs is far too expensive
👍
Can the auto glym be used on gloss painted plastics, body kit trim? Also do you need to put another coat of something after applying the auto glym?? Thanks.
Yes, it can be used on most painted surfaces... Afterwards, look at applying AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection or their UHD Wax or something similar
Autoglym for polish then mothers canuba wax premium or polish angel sealent on top mint
Nice 👍
At the end.... same story, normal wax, no one make the difference. Anyway... real durability in street?
I use triple wax on my car cones up looking brand new £5
Nice 👍
I would choose Auto Glym as better Value
👍
Autoglym every time
👍
Hard to get car wash gear and chemicals with the lockdown
Ah, but that's the beauty of these, supermarkets are still open, so are motor factors 👍
Or there's always Amazon
@@TheDetailingSpace oh
Thanks to a discount coupon I could buy the Meguiars 3in1 for 18 euros with free shipping. Is it worth it?
Alternatively, does anyone have experience with Liqui Moly 1467 polish & wax? It sounds interesting and is not expensive. Anyone have experience with Liqui Moly polish?
I'm sorry but your comparison of feed products is not well done, so it is of little use....
How are you going to remove the swirls by gently wiping a sponge just a couple of times that looks like you're spreading cream on a baby's face?
I'm sorry but it doesn't work for me and it wasted my time.
anyway, thanks for the effort
Think Autoglym srp for me 👍

Autoglym sent you something for free ..your lucky
