    Comment from AutoGlym UK:
"The plan was to make something that was as "un-mess-up-able" as possible, but that still really delivered. Keep it off the rubbers and don't let it dry on and you will be fine. Even then, the preparation product will remove it from rubbers and if it dries during application, just add more Ceramic Coating to re-hydrate the product. No need to machine it off as with some other types of product."

      Erm, thanks I think 🤣
But remember, because I make it look easy, that's no excuse to get complacent 😉
Seriously though, it's all about the prep work. So as long as you're happy with the results of your polishing etc, and ready to "lock it in", then applying this should be fairly straight forward with a little patience.

I use to clean and polish cars in the mid 90s, a shame I didn't carry on with it, this video is great, makes me want to get back into it, the quality of products out there now is amazing, most improved formula's out there now, and I do know back in the 90s that most car manufacturers and showrooms used the Auto Glym Polish, probably use it in today's car markets. And I never ever used a motorized buffer. Interesting stuff out there now, and why the heck do people use the clay bar, just get a packet of low pH solutions when washing the car it takes off 100% of debris. Anyway, great video great solutions and simple methods.... Cheers fella.

A lot of people dis Auto Glym vs the quirkier, more boutique detailing brands but many of their products are very good. They seem to have effective R&D because I think this [ceramic] product is pretty strong, as well as being good value for money.

To me it seems pricey. £60 for 2 cloths an IPA and a bottle of ceramic. I'd be interested in the actual SIo2 solids content in this. Also it says you can top this with UHD wax at another £60 a pop.
This would not make me switch from TAC or Cquartz. Companies that have been doing coatings for a long while with a better price point.
The snow foam lance looks like a winner if you happy to pay twice the price as other Italian made PA lances with a wide mouth bottle.
I can see a theme developing...
If I'm Joe Bloggs, who this product is marketed at is lost looking at Halfrauds shelves marveling at the sheer amount of detaining products and looking for a ceramic product to schlep all over the paint, I'd probably pay the £90 for the TW ceramics range, based of the same amount of prep for each product, TW offers way move value the the end consumer as its a complete detailing system, rater than just 1 product. Polish, base coat, wet wax, shampoo and QD, (All ceramic, if a little bit is good, way more is way better) and offers similar results, and the packaging looks more desirable, and wont get lost in the other relatively expensive AG UHD product line.
On the upside, the video was well presented, useful tips and honest impressions of the product. I like what you do and you should keep it up.

Whats the weekly maintenance after a coating? I've got a coating applied to my car and appreciate the ceramic makes a protective layer but I've found road salt and traffic grime does build up and start sticking after 6 months.
I don't have a Karcher at home, so trying to find a suitable alternative maintenance method of cleaning would be good to understand?

    • @karlhulme8014
      @karlhulme8014 4 года назад +3

Liam Turner probably down to not enough preparation ( at a guess) . If you don’t have a machine polisher to really get the paint to a good standard I’d steer clear of most ceramic products. The turtle wax stuff will degrade over time ( one coat in maybe 3/4 months), so you could just wait and then go back to traditional waxing, it’s much more forgiving than ceramics.

I am looking forward to the AutoGlym anti-postman product to be released. I spent considerable time the other day polishing my car, and a couple of days later our postman - who has an IQ approaching 15 - merrily ran the buckles of his postbag along the length of the car - as he “brushed by”.
What particularly pissed me off was the fact he had no mail to deliver to us and he was just “running a shortcut” to my neighbour.
Yep, with all the best will in the world, there is always some careless arsehole out there who just doesn’t give a shit about other people’s property.

Does this product offer a similar result to Supagard? We had Supagard protected car several years ago, but I never realised what it was. The car always cleaned very well with dirt just dropping off with little effort. I then began working for a Nissan car dealer that tried to get us to sell a similar product for a minimum of £100 and up to £300! This was in 2000. I never sold one as it seemed to be a con to me. I then realised the significance of the small Supagard sticker on a rear window. I then worked for a Ford dealer that sold Supagard, but at a more reasonable price. I seem to recall they purchased a car polishing kit, including leather interior and carpet treatment for around £15. The valeters charged about £45 to treat the car, so we had to sell it for at least £60. I did sell a few as I thought that it was quite good.

You would still need to wash your car, but the protection will still be there. Please don't confuse these type of products with "never have to wash it again" nonsense you get from dealers. The car will still attract dirt, but this will make initial washing easier as more dirt should just rinse off with a pressure washer before you even touch the car with a mitt.

If using this ceramic, the preparation product will remove the fillers that SRP leaves behind, so kinda wasting time there. Really, you want to machine polish the car before applying this...
Otherwise, use SRP and then a wax product on top of that rather than this.

Even then, the preparation product will remove it from rubbers and if it dries during application, just add more Ceramic Coating to re-hydrate the product. No need to machine it off as with some other types of product.

I know what you mean in some ways, but I think you're thinking more of the "ceramic infused" or "Si02 infused" products. This - as far as I can tell - is a "proper" ceramic. Some of the infused products only offer a few months of protection and are usually wipe on wipe off (or even rinse off). This gives 12 months, and has to have time to cure.
