Lagoon is my home park and I used to work there as a ride operator. I didn't work either Schwarzkopf, but I do remember having to be a test rider for Jet Star 2 on several occasions when I finished by morning inspections on the ride I would be working that day, since the toboggans need to be loaded with people to properly test the brakes. I used to love it as a kid, but nowadays it's very easy to get whiplash on it. Also, the middle seat can sit up to 3 people, and more of than not, the attendants will be yelling if there's a single rider available to fill an odd number of riders. Still, I have a ton of memories of it and glad you got to enjoy it!

My favorite Schwarzkopf coaster to ever operate was The Black Hole at Alton Towers, it was a Jet Star 2 covered in a large tent, nothing felt more intense at the time than going round those tight turns while in complete darkness. It unfortunately closed in 2005.

I’ve only ridden one Schwarzkopf so far, and that’s the other Mindbender in West Edmonton Mall. It’s a great coaster over all but the only downside is that the cars have over the shoulder restraints I find those to be really uncomfortable. Most of the coaster is left turns into sweeping drops. The max G force is 5 G’s at the end of the first loop.

Montezooma's Revenge is GREAT! I'm in the exact same boat, my first looping coaster was this as well! In 1994 my family visited family at Disneyland, and the last day we went to Knotts, and I worked up courage to ride this near the end of the night... we ended up marathoning it I loved it so much! Yeah I do 😅. I didn't really have much time to bring that up because I was on the clock and I had guests to serve. I knew I only had about a minute to chat and I just wasn't sure what to say in that amount of time. Your vlog of you at Magic Mountain hitting capacity was in my recommendations and that's how I found you. I showed that video to a few friends to show off how packed that place was. Then a few days went by and the next thing I know, I see you standing in line at the Churro Cart xD. My channel isn't necessarily related to theme parks, but I am an enthusiast. I've been visiting Magic Mountain ever since I was 11. Back then I used to visit several times a year. Just recently I visited Six Flags Great Adventure last October. Had a great time. El Toro was my favorite ride there. Hope to see you around again soon!

I´m from Germany in my mid 50ies and the Jet Star coaster often could be seen on travelling fun fairs throughout the country. The seating, while seemingly beeing uncomfortable for people who don´t know each other, was VERY popular among teen couples because they could come very close during the ride. You got the picture. 😉 Same with some carnival rides like Enterprise, Himalaya Ride/ Music Express. In my country teenage kids (15+) usually go to the fun faires without their parents but with their peer group.

I’m pretty much the ultimate fan of Mind Bender at 6 Flags over Georgia! Definitely my best anticipated 1978 Schwarzkopf double loop roller coaster with the tunnel towards the end after the second loop. Of course I did 2 pivot head POVs and the drop of the Mind Bender was not all that bad that I felt comfortable putting my 2 hands in the air. Also I did get a little bit of air time. But one of my favorite elements is the 45 degree angle helix sending you 45 degrees to the ground and another 45 degree angle upward helix going back up at the top speed of 50 mph in advance.

This video has such a nostalgic resonance for me. The Scorpion in Tampa's Busch Gardens is the very first roller coaster I rode on! I remember being so scared of coasters growing up... but the Scorpion was the perfect introduction to the coaster world for me! It not only dispelled my fears...but also helped to engender the love I have for them now! Sadly, I no longer reside in America...as I would have LOVED to ride this park's later addition of coasters (looking at you, Cheetah Run!!!!). Sigh.... thanks for posting this video! Well I’ve only been on 2 being sooper dooper looper and scorpion. I refuse to ride scorpion anymore and sooper dooper looper was my first coaster with an inversion so it holds a special place in my heart

idk if this will make it seem a little better, but mind bender at over georgia was my first real coaster when i was probably 5. most locals see it more as a starter coaster for children because of the pretty short height limit, but i can definitely understand the disappointment since the coaster is so raved about. i’d be disappointed too if i didn’t grow up with it lmao

If you ever make it to Europe, try to get a ride on "Nessie" in nothern Germany before it disappears.
It's a really old coaster, it was the first stationary vertical looping coaster in Europe IIRC.
It's being changed a little bit currently, getting new theming and a new station building, but they're not touching the track (which has been likened to a wooden coaster) or the brakes (in a tin metal tunnel, quite loud) and people keep saying that Nessie's days are numbered due to age, spare parts and also safety-concerns (inverting coaster with only lap bars)

but Olympia Looping is freakin insane omg.... the inversions are very intense and the whole thing feels very out of control and is amazing, I managed to get to ride it on accident in Vienna when it was at Prater

But it's no Schwarzkopf coaster. Sorry, man! (Yes, it follows the heritage of Schwarzkopf's coasters, and it looks like one, but it was built after Schwarzkopf went bankrupt and therefore was built by someone else.)

It would be really interesting to see what you think of Lisebergsbanan at Liseberg, which is said to have been the favorite Schwarzkopf designed roller coaster of none other than Anton Schwarzkopf himself.

Shockwave is at my home park sixflags over Texas and the park management maintain this ride to a T. Every other year they take section of the track and have it welded and reprofiled.

Hey Airtime thrills, so My #1 is the soooperdooperlooper at hershey park and my homepark is six flags america and It is not all that bad if you go on a day where it is a Little busy the rides won't be down. My last visit every thing was running realy well and the only ride Closure was the wild one for about 10 minutes .It depands on the day your there because some days a lot of rides are down but some days all the rides are open and running. But I agree. It needs a stand-out coaster. Also six flags america finally discovered a thing called running 2 trains!

Just rode Quimera at La Feria de Chapultepec Mágico in Mexico City and the addition of the cringy shoulder restraints was totally needed. Interesting how friction wheels are all lined up for the entire lift. You get crazy ejector airtime for most of the ride, and you will need to make a chiropractic appointment afterwards. Ouch.

Whizzer may have survived, but the Zambezi Zinger didn’t. I consider Zinger also being at number 7 since it shares the same layout. Perfect family coaster, just like you said.

Me I think Mindbender should first place Mindbender has a beautiful terrain one the most extreme helix and loops on a looping coaster and it park is better than six flags over texas. Come on and u put a flywheel one trick pony in front of Mindbender.

    • @AirtimeThrills
      @AirtimeThrills  5 лет назад +3

Mindbender does have a cool terrain layout but doesnt pull the forces that Shockwave does. Or even the forces that Montezooma does (tho Monte gets extra points for being a sentimental favorite)

Whizzer was my very first coaster (I think) so I definitely have a massive soft spot for it.
Shock Wave didn't make me grey out, but my arms actually were pulled down so hard I got a bruise on my elbow in the second to back row (SFOT has this weird rule where there have to be two people in the last row, it makes no sense).
