Vekoma and Togo don't entirely deserve their reputation. Japanese Togos are actually pretty good, it's their export models that are excessively rough and I have no clue why that is. As for Vekoma, it's the SLC's fault that they have such a bad reputation.
He mentioned basically every single roller coaster in Las Vegas except for canyon blaster at the adventuredome. Which is one of the most painful rides I’ve ever been on! It’s probably because i am only 5’4.

Gtccoasters That sounds really unfortunate 😭 some people really gotta ruin the fun for others huh? I know it was just a kid but damn....... this is taking safety a bit too far, I understand the park has good intent but I absolutely loathe shin guards so I can only imagine how painful it must be now

@@markvolpe2305 Im a light guy but those shin guards are the worst. i haven't rode skyrush but there pretty uncomfortable at sfne i imagine skyrush to be even worse.
My niece dragged me on Predator last Sunday (I usually refuse to go on that) only if we rode near the front of the train, and I was surprised how good it ran and actually had airtime on it, also the New section of Titan track was glass smooth! Now if Six Flags does the rest of the coaster with Titan track, it would be a great coaster again.
Roar is so rough! I rode it twice thinking I could get airtime. Nope just my leg workout for the next few days. I had to brace myself with my legs and engage my abs to hold myself steady. Same on Wild One.
I'm glad you mentioned the wooden coasters at Holiday World! They are awesome coasters for a park like that but you will get a little bruised experiencing the fun on a couple of them.
I’ve gotta say, comet is one of the smoothest “classic” woodies out there. It’s super smooth and you get a LOT of airtime on the hills. Great coaster for enthusiasts young and old. Try to catch a night ride, it’s spectacular!!!
Skyrush restraints seriously suck. No, they do not hurt every single time. My first painful experience started fine. I didn't think anything was wrong at the station. By the time we got to the top of drop hill I knew this was going to be painful. This was at night, so I didn't know when the next turn was coming. Every motion simply increased the pain and reduced my blood flow. When the ride ended I stumbled off the ride because my entire right leg was completely numb. I am not exaggerating. The ride staff did not blink either, so I believe this is way more common than it should ever be.
cant be worse than goliaths walabi holland megacoaster latbar, its the metal seatbelt latches, inbetween, but the latbar, hydrolic just locks, being pushed cheked at the station by staff.
I laughed when I saw Steel Eel in the intro! I just rode that a couple days ago and agree with what you said about it -- even though I find the rough valleying to be a bit more bothersome than you seem to. And it seemed to happen after every hill when I rode it! Each time I rode it, though, I rode towards the back, so that very well may have been an influence towards my experience. The coaster DOES have good airtime, though! That first drop, especially, is surprisingly good!!
Before even watching: I just discovered okcoasters and the scripts to his videos are very artistic. I love the passion he brings to the coaster enthusiast community.
In 1988, at a mere 4 years old, I rode Shockwave at (Six Flags Over Texas) for the first time (back in the 80s the height restrictions were rarely, if ever, adhered to. Additionally, my mom was made to pay an adult ticket for me, which she later argued had made me eligible to ride). It was my first coaster and the one that made me fall in love! A short two years later (1990) I rode the Texas Giant. Nearly died. I was so small -in age and size- that the lap bar didn't even touch my legs. After the first drop while ascending the second hill, I went airborne, literally. Had my mom not quickly reacted and jerked me down, Lord knows what might have happened. Turns out, the rest of the ride was more likely to kill me from a neck-breaking whiplash than my superman trick...talk about painful. I've not rode it since it was re-done.
I must’ve ridden Scream on a real good day. I rode front row and it’s in my top 30. Everybody I talk to seems to hate the ride but I personally thought it was one of the better B&M’s I’ve ridden, especially because of the amazing zero g roll.
Coaster Limits i agree, i ride scream on every visit to six flags and imo it’s getting better every time, it’s very smooth, i love all the b&m’s at magic mountain, but riddler is getting rough, still a good ride though
I would say the most painful ride I’ve been on by B&M is Vortex at Carowinds. That was a god awful ride. I didn’t like Riddler’s Revenge either, but Georgia Scorcher is the best stand up imo.
Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion back in the day when it still had OTSR. The final inversions before the brake run caused the most violent head banging I have ever experienced.
I rode FoF at KI for the first time over last summer, and ride attendants were assigning seats and my sister and I got the back row. Usually not a bad thing, but you would have thought I was on Vortex with the amount of headbanging I experienced, even while keeping my head back for the launch. And strangely enough, my one ride on Vortex had no headbanging AFAIK.
@@slaughteredwolf Not sure what restraints it had but I rode it quite a few times over a 1 week period and it was fine every time... about 10+ years ago
I'm a wood coaster and traditional amusement park guy, but some steel coasters I like. Thank you for giving Shock Wave some much-needed love! This 42 year-old Schwartzkopf is smooth as glass and one of the most intense and thrilling steelies among the 300+ I've ridden. The airtime is unreal and, yes, the single lap bar can cause discomfort on it's powerful hills. Master Anton knew how to get it right. I don't even bother riding Vekoma SLCs anymore, even if I don't have the credit. They're too miserable. However, I was shocked at a Vekoma loop/corkscrew at Beijing Amusement Park, China because it was actually smooth. Same with free spins. One and done...I rode the one at SFOT and decided never again, I don't even want them on my list.
I haven't found many others who feel this way, but my most painful experience from B&M is the bottom of pretzel rolls. I love flying coasters in almost every other way, but at the bottom of the pretzel roll I always get this dull pain from getting flattened by the positive Gs.
My most painful moments: -marathoning Millennium Force in heavy rain at night. Looked amazing going up the lift hill against the lights of the ride and then it felt like being stung by 1000 bees the rest of the ride. Still did it four times though. -riding Steel Vengeance behind a lady with really long hair and getting whipped in the face the entire ride -on the Beast when we entered the last tunnel for the first time and that turn comes, my friend’s head smashed into my shoulder. I now brace myself every time we start tearing down that hill.
Well, some things you do to yourself! You can't go that fast in the rain and not have it hurt! I did one ride like that on Magnum and could barely open my eyes. My most memorable was waiting for first car on Millennium and getting on around sunset when all the Lake Erie bugs start swarming. It wasn't painful...suspiciously so....until we exited the ride and I had to pick numerous pieces of bug guts off my partners face. We went this last weekend and I was SO ok with wearing a mask! The first time I rode the beast, I was young and probably around 4 foot. I was trying to be brave and hold my hands up when we hit the helixes and I smashed my cheek right into the side of the train and got some light whiplash and a good headache before declaring it THE BEST!
My first go on Rip Ride Rocket was one of my most painful coaster experiences ever. My daughter loved it and forced me to go again. Then I discovered the trick is to force my head forwards and anticipate the turns and I quite enjoyed it from then on...
For Gravity Group, it is by long and far Hades 360, but i bet your ride in it made that fact known. It is quite imfamous for how rough that ride is. Light trains, long high speed sections, and terrible matinence make it the perfect storm. In fact it gets so bad in the tunnel I have a theory they keep it rough in there to earn it's name, makes that tunnel feel like the god itself is shaking the train as you run through that pitch black, deafeningly loud tunnel
Just rode The Scream machine at SFOG for the first time in eighteen years last weekend. It is borderline unrideable in the back right now. I literally have bruises from it. Took three rides on it (front, back, middle). I remember crying in line for it when I first rode it as a four year old in 1982, because it was massive and I was scared. I remember crying in line for it at 42 years old last weekend for my third ride through because I knew it was going to hurt me more, lol. I hope by all that is good they retrack that thing completely for it's 50-year in 2023. P.S. Honorable mention to Blue Hawk in it's former life as Ninja before they put the new trains on it several years ago. It USED to be the roughest ride in the park and that is saying something considering it was next door to the Scream Machine. Now it is an absolute joy to ride over and over.
Great American Scream Machine may be rough it but it will always be one of my favorites. I never found it too rough to bear, but the experience with the buzz bars was honestly insane with a ride that unpredictable. The former cyclone trains really don't do it justice
I’m very surprised on how rough you find Roar. It definitely shakes a bit, but I find it still a great ride and hop on a couple times every visit (SFA is my home park)
Major props for so enthusiastically endorsing a fellow coaster content creator. Recently discovered his work and it is indeed excellent. Great video overall as always, Airtime Thrills. I agreed with much of your analysis. For those looking to check out okaycoasters for the first time should look up his video on Iron Gwazi. It will get you freaking siked for Busch Gardens Tampa as a whole.
For Maurer, a very rough back-row ride on Spinball Whizzer; at Alton Towers, on July 3rd, left me with a bit of unexpected pain in my upper-legs and lower-stomach!
Yeah Silverwood has both the old arror corkscrew prototype from Knotts and the aftershock boomerang from vecoma. I actually found aftershock smooth compared to corkscrew banging my head
I have chronic migraines, so being able to ride the roller coasters with head banging and STILL have fun is a blessing. Those head banging add little to nothing since I already have my head aching prior, so I learned to simply enjoy the rides even if my head is about to explode. This will trigger a bunch of enthusiasts, but i had fun at my one ride at the Manhattan express in Vegas (or whatever it is called).
The roughest arrow of all time is Steel Phanrom. When you came down the first drop you instantly started the head banging. It became so intense of head bang in loops after second drop you prayed for death
Interesting, Scream at SFMM was very smooth for me when I was there in 2018; really loved that ride for being a parking lot coaster. Figured you might’ve gone with one of the stand-ups as roughest for B&M
maybe an honorable mention for arrow could be the matterhorn. I know it's the oldest arrow and it's a great ride but in the back row it REALLY bangs you up
If Mean Streak isnt on here as atleast a cliffnote I will riot. Had a migrane after riding that thing and coasters people call *rough I generally find to be fine.
Most painful coaster I have been on: Flight of the Hippogriff at Universal Studios Hollywood (manufactured by MACK Rides) Reason: the same reason Airtime Thrills gave to Knotts' Coast Rider- THOSE DAMN SHIN GAURDS!
The most painful coaster I’ve done is grand National at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, I sat in the middle of the train, I came off and I genuinely thought I had died it was that rough, the first drop is horrible as well it’s a double down but it happens right at the very bottom and with the bad restraints it bruised my thigh
Coaster Countdowns when I was at Blackpool I couldn’t build up the courage to ride infusion but I did blue Flyer, Nickelodeon streak, grand National, avalanche, revolution, steeplechase, Big Dipper and icon but now I’ve also done galactica, wicker man and nemesis at Alton towers
I was terrified of coasters for most of my life and only started riding them a few years ago. Skyrush was my fifth ever coaster and it nearly put me off of coasters immediately after getting back into them. Glad to know I wasn't being a pissbaby and it actually does suck to others too lmao
I will forever believe Magnum is the most painful Arrow. No where else in the world can you ride a rollercoaster that feels like you are constantly traveling over speed bumps
Thank you! Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket is so intensely rough! I rode it in October 2020, unassuming and excited. I left thinking there is no way I didn’t get some brain damage from that. Never again!
I agree that the restraints on Gatekeeper can make it hard to breathe, especially when trying to take a deep breath. Magnum's lap bars were painful on the thighs when going over the bunny hops, though I didn't notice that so much last year when they put extra padding on the bars. The pretzel turn, however, shook my head so much I got a headache. And when I rode the Vortex at Kings Island, going down the first drop my head got slammed into the restraint so hard I had an intermittent headache for the rest of the day, so I don't even remember much else about my visit (other than a vague recollection of riding Son of Beast when it still had the loop). Not surprisingly, I wasn't sad to see Vortex go.
Do you have a head man, with ears attached?, I'll still go on this now and then but dang those shoulder harnesses suck; major head banging and ear smashing at least two or three times on every ride.
The first rollercoaster I ever rode was the Legand at Holidayworld.... thought I would never want to ride one again until I was drug onto the Raven, thats the one that made me realize my love for rollercoasters.
At minimum its like half a dozen times a day😂😂😂 i swear 90% of the time i approach the entrance they are closing off the line. Sometimes it breaks down multiple times before I can even get on. Still worth the wait though. That launch and drop are awesome.
The B&M wing coaster at thorpe park England (the swarm) has the same vest restraints but seem to be quite comfortable and still allow for a reasonable amount of movement.
I actually don't find Magnum or American Eagle to be that bad, especially the more I ride them. X-Flight restraints totally kill the ride - I like the layout better than Gatekeeper but the vest tightening on X-Flight puts it well below Gatekeeper for me.
I really thought I was the only one with that issue considering I barely weigh anything. I love the ride itself but the restraints prevent me from wanting to ride it ever. I just don't ride it lol
I’d say American Eagle is the perfect amount of roughness. The 3 roughest I’ve ever ridden were all at Cedar Point: Mean Streak (duh), Magnum (major thigh bruising), and Maverick (idk why but I got stapled in so hard that I was in pain for what should’ve been a good ride. It was sad and I think I need to go back and reride).
Firebird at Six Flags America is B&Ms first coaster and it has some pretty bad head banging. The transition from standup to floorless didn’t help it , unfortunately.. I felt great same way about Rougarou at Cedar Point.
When you ride Hades 360 get the front 2 rows. 3 and 4 are ok. Anything behind that is excruciatingly painful. I rode in row six and was crying afterwards because of how much back pain I had, and I'm a healthy 18 year old. It took me a solid minute to be able to even walk off the platform
B&M: Vortex (Carowinds) CCI: Hoosier Hurricane (Indiana Beach) Arrow: Corkscrew (Cedar Point)- Yeah it's small but it is quite painful. Togo: Manhattan Express Vekoma: T3 (WORST COASTER)- try sitting on the break run for 10 minutes. It was HORRIBLE!!!! Gerstlauer: Mystery Mine Coast Rider was a great choice. Intamin: Green Lantern (Close second for Worst coaster)
2:07. I have had that exact experience courtesy the 2019 kiwanis ralley. Considering the hornet themed ride the raindrops stinging your face was especially appropriate
I was planning to go to Energylandia in Poland this april. Well. Nope. I want to ride a coaster so badly but I'll probably stay at home for the next weeks/months. All from second-hand batsoup. Thanks Obama

In fact it gets so bad in the tunnel I have a theory they keep it rough in there to earn it's name, makes that tunnel feel like the god itself is shaking the train as you run through that pitch black, deafeningly loud tunnel
I'm sitting and watching this and waiting for Intamin and I was like, "It's gonna be Skyrush" and surprise surprise I was right.
Yes I’ve been watching okay coasters. Seriously underrated
15:03 I ABSOLUTELY LOST IT when he said "Skyline."
Aww, I was so sure you were gonna open with “Why do we ride Coaster’s, just to suffer?”
Okaycoasters & Airtime together?!? Damn man, the two GOATS, I'd love to catch a coaster train with you two maniacs sometime! 👍🤘🎢
0:19 Dude I was literally about to comment, "dang this sounds like an OkayCoasters video" lol
Arrow and Vekoma: *Nervous sweats*
Yeah Silverwood has both the old arror corkscrew prototype from Knotts and the aftershock boomerang from vecoma. I actually found aftershock smooth compared to corkscrew banging my head
16:00 you have officially pissed of every coaster enthusiast on this great planet
Some fanboys could be REALLY frustrated...
Jk he’s one of the greatest coaster channels on this website👍
Skyrush Fanboy I agree
Sorry, but I agree, Skyrush is AWFUL. I wanted to love this coaster but I just HATE IT. And Hershey is my home park. 🙁
@@mkmartin559 I’m jealous my home park is Canada’s wonderland lol
The funny thing about Outlaw Run is that I find the shakiness actually contributes to the experience when you learn about the ride’s story
okaycoaster + Airtime Thrills for a full video would be the collab of the century
TheRandom ikr
I have chronic migraines, so being able to ride the roller coasters with head banging and STILL have fun is a blessing. Those head banging add little to nothing since I already have my head aching prior, so I learned to simply enjoy the rides even if my head is about to explode. This will trigger a bunch of enthusiasts, but i had fun at my one ride at the Manhattan express in Vegas (or whatever it is called).
The roughest arrow of all time is Steel Phanrom. When you came down the first drop you instantly started the head banging. It became so intense of head bang in loops after second drop you prayed for death
I never thought Vortex at King's Island was uncomfortable. Used to ride it nonstop when there was no line. Was one of my favorites back in the day.
When you mention Dinn
Me now getting flashbacks to their most painful coaster
I’m guessing Mean Streak (before becoming Steel Vengeance)
@@Metalhead_Coaster_Fan or Texas Giant towards the end of life
Traindude70 Trust me. You haven’t felt true pain until you ride Predator. That thing has given me substantial bruises
Schmippy Scrahahooie Predator: Ride of Pain
Top 3.
1. Voyage
2. Skyrush
3. Legend
How have we had such different experiences on these rides? The aren’t rough. They are all fantastic rides.
Interesting, Scream at SFMM was very smooth for me when I was there in 2018; really loved that ride for being a parking lot coaster. Figured you might’ve gone with one of the stand-ups as roughest for B&M
Scream can be hit or miss, probably depending on the seat
maybe an honorable mention for arrow could be the matterhorn. I know it's the oldest arrow and it's a great ride but in the back row it REALLY bangs you up
If Mean Streak isnt on here as atleast a cliffnote I will riot.
Had a migrane after riding that thing and coasters people call *rough I generally find to be fine.
I definitely think Predator is wayyy worse than Mean Streak. My 2016 Mean Streak ride was bumpy but not painful
I agree spider I live near cedar point and been riding the mean streak since it came out back in the day it was always a bumpy and rough ride
When I heard the music and "Why do we ride roller coasters?" My first thought to respond with is "JUST TO SUFFER????"
I want Skyrush to get B&M clamshells
Duuuude
ikr
I want buzzbars lol
Best thing ever!!!!!
@@florianmartin75 damn bro u got a death wish
Nevada resident here, I love that 3 out of our 4 adult coasters in the entire state were on this list 😂
This is what happens when your coaster boom comes in the 90s lol
@@AirtimeThrills lol true but even then, El Loco, our newest coaster (2014) just didn’t really stand a chance compared to other s&s coasters.
Most painful coaster I have been on: Flight of the Hippogriff at Universal Studios Hollywood (manufactured by MACK Rides)
Reason: the same reason Airtime Thrills gave to Knotts' Coast Rider- THOSE DAMN SHIN GAURDS!
Also the original Gwazi was a pretty rough GCI before it closed at Busch Gardens Tamp
“That’s the price you gotta pay for good ejector,” he says right after complaining about how Skyrush’s ejector hurts
The slight discomfort from the RMC OTSR doesnt compare to the thigh crushing
I work at holiday world, they finally fixed the legend, replaced a bunch of track last offseason and its now smoother than the voyage.
McScottish how many coasters have you been on?
Coaster Countdowns I’m just really starting actually riding them so at the moment 19 but I do design coasters on no limits so yeah 😅
Nash is a lot smoother if you sit on a non wheel seat. ie in the middle of each car/carriage
McScottish Fair enough, did you not think that Infusion was more rough?
Yeah, it’s not very good
It’s 50/50 for me.
Thank you! Hollywood Rip Ride Rocket is so intensely rough! I rode it in October 2020, unassuming and excited. I left thinking there is no way I didn’t get some brain damage from that. Never again!
I usually loves roller coasters but the one is so rough I only rode it once .
Intamin: I can be your angle (El Toro) or yuor Devil (Skyrush). God I despise Skyrush, my only personal one and done modern Intamin.
Steel eel at sea world from Morgan is one of my favorites
Nah the most painful arrow coaster is every arrow coaster
Vekoma's most painful coaster has to be Thunder Coaster in Tusenfryd, Norway. Like for real. It's a torture device made of wood!
Please also make a smoothest coaster from each manufactuer video, that should be nice
I don't know who manufactured it, but the Grizzly at Kings Dominion is a real neck breaker.
Just got my ride in. 4 days later and I've still got a kink in my neck and left shoulder
Taft Broadcasting Conpany built. No idea wtf they are
omg yes!!!! Roughest rollercoaster I have been on.
no wonder it’s rough, it was made by a damn broadcasting company
Anaconda at Kings Dominion can get pretty nasty with those constant loops as well. Great video!
Gave me a pounding headache.🤕🤬
Mamba is pretty smooth, except there’s a hard lateral right before the final brake run.
I LOVED the run in by Okaycoasters
2020: these are so painful
2025: top ten most painful rollercoasters number 1 iron gwazi
I discovered okaycoasters about a month ago, and totally agree he - and you - produce some of the best coaster content period. ☺️
I never really found roughness or a rattle on Scream
it's the only ride i wont go on at Six Flags Magic Mountain because it hurts and I'm not that young anymore.
Ka breaks down every other millisecond
It was sad and I think I need to go back and reride).
being a 5'5 male, getting in and out of Riddler's Revenge was a hellhole
same lol i got stuck
;-;
Nice pfp
Firebird at Six Flags America is B&Ms first coaster and it has some pretty bad head banging. The transition from standup to floorless didn’t help it , unfortunately.. I felt great same way about Rougarou at Cedar Point.
So glad to see someone else who doesn’t like scream
I have ridden alot of rides but for some weird reason I always feel sick after riding scream.
I love your channel bro thanks for the work you do
PAIN MEANS FUN PAIN MEANS FUNPAIN MEANS FUNPAIN MEANS FUN
No.
Ternedo yes 😏
Did I just stroke out?
When you ride Hades 360 get the front 2 rows. 3 and 4 are ok. Anything behind that is excruciatingly painful. I rode in row six and was crying afterwards because of how much back pain I had, and I'm a healthy 18 year old. It took me a solid minute to be able to even walk off the platform
Gerstlauer: the smiler cos it literally tears your limbs off

I like how on the short fears list scene, it says airtime thrills.
B&M: Vortex (Carowinds)
CCI: Hoosier Hurricane (Indiana Beach)
Arrow: Corkscrew (Cedar Point)- Yeah it's small but it is quite painful.
Togo: Manhattan Express
Vekoma: T3 (WORST COASTER)- try sitting on the break run for 10 minutes. It was HORRIBLE!!!!
Gerstlauer: Mystery Mine
Coast Rider was a great choice.
Intamin: Green Lantern (Close second for Worst coaster)
Solid list
Alan Trotter RIP Hoosier Hurricane!
Did you mamage by now? I've added my first RMC to my list this year (untamed), despite covid.
Just subscribed! I have had emotional roller coaster rides only very few times in my life.
