@@Doctor_dispatch Escape from Gringots hour and a half ish on a line saying it was only half an hour then 5 days later i found I had been tested positive for covid 😅
@@NoahGragsonFan629 I convinced everyone to single rider Velocicoster but my friends wanted to 'experience the line' for Escape from Gringots and Forbidden Journey. Now I think they are both fun but I may not suggest we go to Universal together again anytime soon if they arnt going to skip an hour in line.....
We don’t have anything that could really be considered smooth here, so it’s tolerable in comparison to rides like Roar and Mind Eraser. For that time period, I don’t think Six Flags could’ve done any better.
Video idea: something about coaster rivalries, as in pairs of coasters that are commonly compared against each other. Kingda Ka and TTD, Iron Gwazi and Velocicoaster, X2 and Eejanaika, etc.
Let’s hope the Cedar Fair influence can help Six Flags America and St. Louis. They need to RMC Roar and the Boss like, yesterday. That would do wonders for both parks.
Unfortunately, the merger may actually kill the chances of that happening. Cedar Fair refuses to work with RMC anymore. Six Flags was the one willing to work with RMC, so unless the Six Flags influence is far stronger, Roar & Boss won't be RMCd.
@OklahomaCoasterFan because being a Cedar Fair park has really helped Michigan's Adventure and Valleyfair! SFSTL has has several new coasters since Michigan's Adventure has gotten a new coaster....24 years! Not counting relocated SLC in 2008
@@Posirep I'm confused. I mentioned that Cedar Fair won't work with RMC again. That's not related to what you brought up, which is certainly true. Yes, those parks have been more neglected, but I don't see how that opens the door for Cedar Fair/Six Flags to do RMC Boss.
@@OklahomaCoasterFanIt's difficult to say which manufacturers are going to be frozen out or allowed back in after the merger; it's just too soon, and it's being presented as a "merger of equals" rather than a takeover by one side or the other. It could be that RMC gets frozen out because of Cedar Fair's bad experience, or they're given another chance because of the better experiences in the Six Flags chain. Similar things could be said for Gerstlauer and possibly even Intamin. We just don't know at this point, and we'll need to wait and see how this all shakes out.
I definitely think the RMC projects were more likely to happen prior to the merger than now given CF's relationship with RMC and their CEO being the CEO of this new company
Normally, I have trouble watching superlatives because so many go to places I haven't been. So in a way, it was "refreshing" to see so much 6 Flags America content here.
Agree with the Blue Streak honorable mention for PTC. I rode it for the first time in 2019 and found it incredibly charming and built it up in my mind. In 2023 … ouch, my partner thought I was crazy for hyping it up
Outlaw Run is actually running really good this year. The pothole at the bottom of the drop seriously needs new track this offseason and they need to retrack the twisted hill after that first large twisting element and the valleys before and after the twisted hill
Yesterday i went for the Coaster Christmas ACE event and i would say that is true it defiantly needs retrack if your not sitting on a wheel or far in the back you definitely get hurt on the drop due to the pothole
I would love to see you do a video of coasters that are standing but not operating. Like the B&M's in China, Do-Dodonpa, the coaster at the nürburgring, and others. I think you'd be the best guy to do it.
I haven't ridden a roller coaster in over ten years, but I can remember Anaconda at King's Dominion being a rough Arrow. Especially that random twisted section of track between the mid-course brake and the double corkscrew. It's kind of just "there" and I distinctly remember the part where it suddenly whips through a left-right turn that always knocked my head around.
Thunderhead isn't rough at all after a lot of retracking last off season. You can easily marathon it now, unlike last year where the first half jack hammered you.
Haven’t experienced any Topper Track or Single Rail RMCs yet, however, Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom threw me into the side of the train hard enough to bruise. Not rough technically but almost jerky like an Arrow corkscrew entrance.
I just rode thunderhead for the first time in September of this year and it was glassy smooth! I was curious if it had off-season work since it was so smooth and forceful.
I’ll say for Premier, as a KI local, our Flight of Fear has been running pretty badly both this and last year. I believe it’s moreso a train issue than a track issue since the roughness varies from ride to ride, I’ve had rides this year that were just kind of rattly and others that were brutally rough. Hoping they get new trains soon to fix that but as it stands, still a fun ride, just, not really worth the crazy long line it always has
@@cdnkartflight of fear at ki and KD is definitely the roughest premier coaster ever, with or without ots restraints, and definitely rougher than joker's Jinx, this coming from someone who lived in MD near six flags America for most of my life. The new six flags cedar fair behemoth needs to remove flight of fear and backlot from both ki and KD as soon as possible, along with anaconda from KD. Erase the ugly stain of the paramount era from two otherwise good parks ASAP!
@anthonyfinch8118 would you rather have nothing than those coasters? Sure, Backlot stunt is nothing exciting, but it attracts riders from other rides and is good for families, just like Goliath at sfmm reopening will pull (a few) people, and theoretically make other lines shorter. I don't know if KD needs the capacity, though as it was a ghost town the one day I was there. It's still a good bridge between family and thrill coasters.
I got a good ride on Firebird when I rode it. Batman at SFNE was the one that banged my head. I also found Joker’s Jinx to be smooth, but Flight of Fear (Kings Dominion) rough
People often talk about Outlaw Run’s roughness, but I didn’t really experience that so much. However, I was pleased to hear you say what DID make Outlaw Run painful for me: during the ride, the lapbar would slip down and clamp down, stapling me in a way that ruined the second half of the ride.
The lap bar is a big issue with Outlaw Run. Really wish they would change the train or the restraints on Outlaw Run to one of their new set-ups. Wheel seat (Row 12) can be difficult to marathon. I actually prefer row 11.
The bumpiness wasn't horrible, but it gave me a really bad headache every single time. I thought at first it was a fluke because it really wasn't that rough, but multiple times I tried and got the same bad headache
I just rerode Corkscrew at Cedar Point this past summer. It was not an enjoyable experience. Not headache inducing, but definitely not the smoothest track or transitions, even for an Arrow. It’s Cedar Point’s oldest steel coaster, and that’s saying something.
Should be removed ASAP along with iron dragon. Put a much better coaster in such a high traffic high visibility area at the split in the middle of the park!
@@TheBolligerMabillardLoverI think Iron Dragon should stay. It's the oldest and longest operating suspended rollercoaster, and it's the park's second best family rollercoaster. (#1 would be Wild Mouse and #3 would be Woodstock Express, and those are all the good family rollercoasters that the rollercoaster capital of the world has. But tear Corkscrew down.
Corkscrew at Nagashima Spa Land (the usual layout for an old Arrow corkscrew model) is definitely the roughest Arrow I’ve ever been on. It gave me such a headache that I had to go take a break before I got on Hakugei to avoid it being ruined for me. Good thing I waited, since Hakugei was excellent. Also, pleased to inform you that TMNT’s clone (or original, rather), Takabisha, does not have that pothole to my knowledge. Or I just didn’t notice it. Staying at Fuji-Q, I think it has the one Togo you might actually like - Fujiyama.
I haven't ridden Desperado but defunct coasters Drachen Fire and Steel Phantom deserve shout outs. Drachen Fire was just an endurance contest of violent elements, while Steel Phantom's amazing first half would get mind erased out of you in the inversions.
I've ridden it a few times. It's been SBNO for a while now. As with any Arrow you already know it's gonna be rough...but just HOW rough it will be is always the crapshoot. Of the CLASSIC Arrow Design, Viper at SFMM is one of those Arrows that looks like you will need a chiropractor at the end but surprisingly it's smooth. Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood is a PRIME example of what Arrow Coasters COULD have been but too little too late. Not to add to the echo chamber but Tennessee Tornado is probably the smoothest Arrow you will EVER Ride due to the move from Scaffolding Support Structure to a B&M Emulated Support Structure as well as one of the first Computer Sided Designed Arrows. Alan Schilke did an interview and TT was brought up and he explained how they went about designing and building it
I remember Vortex at Kings Island being horribly rough the last year or two before becoming defunct. It’s one of the only coasters to give me an all day headache
I don't think Steel Curtain is bad at all. It is just a personal thing for Chris 😄 I was really surpised, I rode Velicoaster in September and it had a pronounced rattle the entire ride. I had ridden it about 5 times prior on three different occassions and it was nothing but glass smooth. I was almost afraid something was wrong as it was such a different feel from all the other times 😬
Steel Curtain was perfectly smooth on my day. Velocicoaster was almost my pick for Intamin. It's the elevated seating that causes it to rattle. But, Skyrush was easily rougher for me. Those are both still top 20 coasters for me.
Yeah, Veloci has that weird rattle but it still is one of the best coasters in the world. Gotham City Escape was glossy smooth tho, I wonder what may have happened at Veloci... Anyway, GCE > VC
@@OklahomaCoasterFan Skyrush is only rough of youre on the wings. I think the rough bouncing is unavoidable with wings. Even the B&M wings have a bounce to them
@@Posirep I've only really gotten that bouncing on X Flight. I get the strong rattle on Skyrush, even in the middle seats, probably because those are elevated. But it is tolerable for me.
For me so far: Arrow - Carolina Cyclone (not terrible, but pretty rough) B&M - Kumba (fun, but rattles like crazy. Kraken is close) CCI - Cheetah (also the #1 roughest coaster I've ridden) E&F - Hurricane (basically everything you said) GCI - Thunderhead (not too bad) Gerstlauer - Mystery Mine (never found it rough, just janky) Gravity Group - Mine Blower (haven't ridden it with the retrack yet) Intamin - haven't found a rough one yet Mack Rides - same here Maurer - Rip Ride Rockit (most of my rides have been smooth, but one was shaky) Premier - Flight of Fear (both are very shaky) PTC - Scream Machine (haven't ridden it with the retrack, but I'd imagine it's still rougher than the other PTC's I've ridden) RMC - haven't found a rough one S&S - same here Schwarzkoph - Mindbender (yeah it's quite smooth but I don't have anything else lol) Vekoma - Twisted Typhoon (ouch, used to be smooth, but I heard they put a "new" train on so now it hurts. Same story with their Boomerang.) Wiegand - Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster (was pretty shaky) Zamperla - don't have anything Zierer - Super Grover SWO (rattled a little)
Screamin' Eagle has been an interesting one. When I last rode it, I made the mistake of picking a wheel seat (the last seat on a car, where you sit directly on top of the wheel). Do not recommend. But my friends sat in the seat behind me and said it was awesome. So that makes a major difference I guess. It was great on my first visit to the park in 2022 though, so I didn't knock it down considering it was my fault for choosing the row I did lol
I traveled from Germany (my home country) to the UK about two weeks ago for the first time to ride coasters. I went to Drayton Manor, Alton Towers and Blackpool Pleasure Beach. If you would have included Designers as well, for Charles Paige the Grand National at BPB would've been an obvious choice I assume. I rode the left side (when entering the queue I queued in the left line) in the very last row (next to a ride engineer) while riding their other woodies in the second to last row (except for Blue Flyer which I rode twice and I tried it in the last row). It's the first woodie I would call brutal, especially the valley after the double down. At one point it felt like there was a jump downwards in the track and the train just dropped down. I still rode the right side right after that experience, but I went back to the second to last row. But, I don't have many credits yet, for the longest time my only wooden credit was Colossos at Heide Park ( I got those other BPB woodies and Wicker Man at Alton during the same trip). So I didn't experience RCCA's Bandit at Movie Park yet.
I’ve ridden the Grand National twice and both times I wondered if it was going to kill me 😂 It’s ridiculously rough, definitely up there with the worst I’ve ridden - although I also rode Great American Scream Machine at Six Flags Over Georgia before the retrack which was extreme rough too (but I felt less of a death threat!)
@@edbrown2998 What I forgot to mention, my lap bar came down multiple notches in that valley. I left myself some room but after that I was nearly stapled. There wasn't much airtime, even before the valley. But it was quite cold and a bit moist. I want to go back in the summer, but I don't know if I would ride the last row again 😁
I went to King's Dominion a few months back. My idiotic self made the incredible decision to ride the Anaconda in the back row. Worst mistake of my life. My head was getting beaten and bruised by the hard over the shoulder restraint the whole time, and out of all 31 different coasters I've ridden (yes I know I'm a noob) Anaconda places 32nd. Roughest arrow coaster by far. On the bright side of my KD trip, I-305 is the goat and ranks #1 for me
Next time, do Anaconda in an odd-numbered row, the front row of any car. Wheel seats (even-numbered rows) are bad on it, but non-wheel seats are tolerable. Also, grab the restraints and keep your head forward.
Wicked at Lagoon was almost A LOT worse. During testing it was determined that the manufacturer welds were inefficient and had to be replaced on the whole coaster. Plus the ride is supposed to have a water feature that has never been used because the cars were not manufactured for water exposure
4:43 It was running super smooth this year 5:36 I also didn’t think it was that rough if you stick your head out 8:11 Id pick Sand Serpent it wasn’t even the restraints it was literally teeth chattering 12:05 I have been on it a ton and it’s not rough except for the helix. Not a bad choice. However I found Scorpion to be much rougher and jankier.
For some reason, I tend to bang my head on the corkscrew on great bear. It might have to do with unknowingly sitting in the bigger seat (row 7?) as a short dude but it’s the only moment I ever brace myself on a steel coaster let alone a B&M 😂
Arrow: Corkscrew at MichAdv rode quite smooth on my July rides. Having not ridden Desperado, I'd say Thunderation edges out Steamin Demon. B&M: Totally agree! I've ridden it 3x, front & back, terrible. CCI: Based on my July rides, I now say Shivering Timbers is rougher than Boss. Chance: I was fine with Swiss Toboggan, but it probably is the roughest by default. Dinn: Wolverine Wildcat was running like a dream in July, so smooth except some bouncing at the end. Timber Wolf was great this year on a non-wheel seat. My active pick would be Thunder Run, but including defuncts, Texas Giant was easily the roughest. GCI: It was Roar, but now, their roughest is easily Zambezi Zinger. Gerstlauer: Iron Shark was rougher for me, but the lap bars make it okay. Gravity Group: Mine Blower was rougher than Hades 360 for me, but probably not anymore. Intamin: In my experience, I pick Batman the Escape at Astroworld. For current ones, easily Skyrush. Mack: I guess Manta at SWSD would be my default pick. Maurer: Tolerable, but yep. Morgan: Wild Thing for the figure 8 section. Premier: Flight of Fear KI PTC: I haven't ridden Screamin Eagle in awhile. Wilde Beast is my pick, barely over Lake Compounce's Wildcat. RMC: I love that ride, but I agree. RCCA: I only rode one, Rattler, and it was my 2nd roughest coaster ever behind Mine Blower. S&S: Steel Curtain was one of my smoothest coasters ever. Hellcat was closed on me, so my pick is easily GaleForce. Schwarzkopf: Mind Bender's helix was brutal for me, so that's my pick. Skyline: No experience. Togo: My only one was the glossy smooth Ultra Twister at Astroworld. Vekoma: Lost Island's SLC is easily my pick. T3 was one of my smoothest SLCs. Zamperla: I didn't think Rollin Thunder was bad, but it was the roughest. Zierer: Haven't done Wicked. Verbolten is my pick.
With temps pushing 115° during its final years, the back car of Texas Giant was Brutal! But epic. Got to ride four times in one afternoon (very lucky), and I was sore the next couple of days and in my young twenties 😂
The European's pick: Arrow: Vampire at Chessington, great ride though. B&M: Never rode a rough one. GCI: Troy gets faster and rougher every year. Still great. Gerstlauer: Typhoon at Bobbejaanland. Intamin: Hyperion at Energylandia. I only got the outside seats, I hear it's better on an inside seat. Still rougher than it should be. Mack: Lost Gravity at Walibi Holland. Glass smooth in its opening year, got record rough in record time. Maurer: Insider at Wiener Prater stands out as the only rough spinner. Their mice in general are horrible. RCCA: Bandit at Movie Park. I came off seriously worried about my ability to procreate. RMC: Untamed is not rough, but the unforgiving lap brick, shin guards and constant ejector makes for an uncomfortable ride. SBF Visa: Viking at Energylandia. Spinning mouse. OTS restraints. What were they thinking? Schwarzkopf: Olympia Looping, mostly due to tightening accordion restraints. Vekoma: Take your pick, but El Condor, the prototype SLC, stands out. I've yet to try the new trains. Zampera: Any Volare. Nuff said. Zierer: The brand-new Farmyard Flyer at Paultons Park stood out for being much rougher than the older Zierer kiddie coasters at the same park.
Chris, I won't hate on you for having three coasters from my home park (Six Flags America) there. Roar is somewhat tolerable in colder weather; Joker's Jinx if you get stapled by the lapbars or (like me) have 'thunder thighs' it can be painful. Firebird i just don't have my head back.
I found El Toro very rough in 2018 and haven't ridden it since. Only ridden Coaster Express and I found the front to be forceless and the back to be about as bad as HellCat's first half in 2018-but its second half was smooth and had good forces. I rode a traveling Toboggan, and it was just okay besides hitting my head. Firebird might be the worst B&M, but its the best B&M in Maryland-you don't have to ride it to know that
GCI - Apocalypse SFMM PTC - Great American Scream Machine SFOG. Schwartzkopf - Zonga SFDK. Similar to mindbender in Edmonton Mall Zonga is obsolete thank God... Think intamin space diver type ride experience..Apocalypse and GASM i rode this year and both of them are still rough as hell.... Even though both coasters have had EXTENSIVE work done to them it hasn't gotten any better. Honorable Mention for PTC would be Cannon Ball at Lake Winnepesaukah. I've heard square wheels over pothole laden tracks would improve the ride quality but it's the one coaster i don't have any personal experience with
What’s funny is when you mentioned B&M my head went straight to Iron Wolf. Even back in the early 2000’s when I last rode it before it was moved and switched to a floorless I was so rough. I guess it makes sense that it didn’t really get much better when it moved to Maryland.
There’s definitely a few defunct coasters that would’ve made this list if they were still around. Great American Scream Machine at Great Adventure for one comes to mind.
I've always gotten a good ride on Scream. I did get a rough ride on Viper at Magic Mountain the last time I rode it. The last time I rode it was around 15 years ago and it banged my head around so much that I am still convinced to this day that it cleared out my sinuses.
Vortex at my home park, Kings Island, still haunts me to this day. a year or two before they demolished it, the 180 degree transition just before the corkscrews unironically felt like a car crash, especially with the over the shoulder restraints.
I haven't ridden Helix yet but I personally think Trace du Hourra at Parc Asterix is the least smooth coaster of MACK, and so are all their bobsled models. it constantly shakes from start to finish and it can hurt a bit for people who aren't tolerable with it
My pick for CCI HAS to be Stampedia at Portaventura. Granted it’s been a long while since I rode it, but i remember it being really rough in its valleys and that first drop feels like a car crash. It’s not for lack of trying either, Portaventura has done some serious maintenance work over the years, but to this day Ive seen bad reviews of the ride post refurbishment that back up my experiences before the Maintenance. It’s a shame because it’s the only dud in Portaventuras coaster list (hell the little kids woodie that runs through the thrill woodie runs 10X better)
The Riddler ride at Six Flags Over Georgia used to be rusty red and it was named the Mind Bender. It was fairly rough the first couple of times I rode it. First time, I mostly blame myself. It was the first upside down coaster I ever rode, and I was a little chicken shit, so I leaned forward and ducked my head in the loops, which totally jams your head/neck. I was limber enough as a kid to not get hurt, but man it didn't feel good. It was also a very creaky sounding ride, but maybe that was intentional? Now, I miss that old look. At the time, I feared it.
@@ChibiProwl 80s and 90s yeah it was a rusty red color. If you google Mindbender Six Flags Over Georgia 1980s you can see a few low res pics, probably from someone's old basic 35mm camera from the days where you'd drop rolls of film off at the drug store.
From a European enthusiast: For a rough Mack coaster you probably will have to go to Europa-Park to go on Euro-Mir, the spinning cars make this even worse as you cannot see where you are going when you are backwards on top of the overall roughness in the big drops. Maybe Poseidon in EP as well, fortunately the rollercoaster section is not too long because that coaster likes to bruise your knees like no other. Probably one of the roughest coasters I’ve ever done (maybe even rougher than Bandit) are both Stampida tracks from CCI at PortAventura, might be one of the worst coasters out there… Like you already mentioned, Bandit is crazy rough and uncomfortable… not a fun ride. However, I rode Coaster Express for the first time last week and it was… comically bad? It wasn’t painful or uncomfortable, it bounces like crazy which was kinda funny to us. Dragon Khan, B&M, once again at PortAventura was hit or miss for me. First time riding it I absolutely hated it, swearing I wouldn’t do it again because the head banging was absolutely insane. But there we are one day later and I wanted to give it a second chance and thank god we did as it was a great ride and the forces it pulls were insane, knowing how to sit in that rollercoaster is a must though. For me Gerstlauer’s roughest has to be Typhoon in Bobbejaanland, an old Euro-Fighter. Absolutely loved this thing as a kid, but I’ve absolutely stayed away from this thing in my last 5/6 visits. This thing is insanely rough and encourages a lot of headbanging… not enjoyable. Personally I thought Goudurix was quite enjoyable! It has a rattle but I was actually surprised that I was able to enjoy my ride! For roughest GCI my (controversial) pick goes to Troy in Toverland. Even though this coaster has a great layout and has given me some great rides, more often than not it gave me a bad headache due to the insane rattle.. Lastly, Roughest Intamin has to go to either Furious Baco at PortAventura or Indiana Jones at Disneyland Paris. Furious Baco has in its favor that it’s a very short ride, but that rattle is insane. Indiana Jones is once again hit or miss, like at Windjammer Surf Racers it has bulky restraints and you absolutely cannot see what’s happening in front of you. Put that in the mixer with jerky transitions and handbanging and yeah… you have a rough Intamin.
Airtime Thrills ..... Have you ever done a video detailing how you do your lists??? I mean do you take an audio recorder or pen and paper with you when visiting an amusement park for taking notes. I can imagine riding that many roller coasters it would be difficult remembering your experiences.🤔🤔🤔. just wondering
The roughest coaster I went on ended up having a name change...along the lines of Top Thrill 2 (Twister 2 -> Twister 3 at Elitch's). Though, it's more of a change like Space Mountain in Disneyland (Retracking with a new audio video package) instead of a change like TT2 (which went to a Strata swing launch coaster). So I find the number increase for Twister 3 a bit weird (though not as weird as putting so much money into a coaster while you're shopping around for land, but what do I know?). It's still funny that the year after your visit to elitch's the land ended up being sold right out from under the park's nose, but it's still a rougher situation than Windjammer's
I don’t think they put ANY money into that coaster except for the scenery changes. I live next to the coaster and saw it every day. Not once did I see anyone working on the track…
@@marchingbandtakemebythehan1887 The owners did make it run as rough as it did for the longest time (after Herchend stepped down) and I remember their last attempt to make it less rough during the land seeking: making both trains only 3 cars long. Though, thanks for that info...even if it's bad info
B&M has a rough ride at sea world Orlando. My son got his head hit against the shoulder restraints on the final inversion on Kraken (it didn’t do damage thankfully).
Mine blowers 208 retrack had really helped it when it gets to the steel parts its glossy smooth and i really like mineblower now. And the bonus is the roar that the 208 has and it spunds so aggressive
I forget the name of it, but the small coaster at the now defunct Six Gun City in Jefferson NH was super rough, only saving grace was it was a kiddie coaster so despite the roughness, it wasnt super forceful in the rough spots
I got a great ride on Timberwolf early in the season and a torturous ride a couple months later. I'm pretty good at riding a coaster defensively and I know this coaster better than any other, but the pooch beat me up like I owed it money.
I went to Nevada/Vegas in 2017 in November, it was so windy they couldn’t run desperado, I didn’t realize that was a blessing in disguise, sounds like I saved myself a lot of pain, and some unexpected dizziness that year saved me from experiencing big apple coaster, but it also unfortunately prevented me from experiencing el loco and canyon blaster
The Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens is literally the roughest coaster I have ever been on. I learned to make it tolerable by removing my earrings and forcing my head against the headrest to keep from banging around.
For each manufacturer's roughest coasters, as of October 2024, here is mine (In order of how many I've ridden from each manufacturer): - Vekoma (4 coasters total): Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens. - Intamin (4 coasters total): Half Pipe at Elitch Gardens. - Mack (4 coasters total): Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld San Diego. - Premier (3 coasters total): West Coast Racers. - B&M (3 coasters total): Emperor. - Gerstlauer (3 coasters total): Adrenaline Peak. - S.D.C (2 coasters total): Olympic Bobsleds (S.D.C Galaxi layout) - Wiegand (2 coasters total): Alpine Coaster at Glenwood Caverns. - Hopkins (2 coasters total): Desert Storm. - Layouts from John Pierce (1 coaster total): Twister 3: Storm Chaser. - Schwarzkopf (1 coaster total): New Revolution. - GCI (1 coaster total): Apocalypse the Ride - Morgan (1 coaster total): West Coaster. - Fredrick Church Layout (1 coaster total): Belmont Dipper. - Skyline Attractions (1 coaster total): Tidal Twister. -Arrow (1 coaster total): Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Manufacturers that didn't have sufficient information to be included: - RMC (2 coasters total): Twisted Colossus and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage I didn't see any roughness, any notable differences, nor any potential discomfort moments, along with Wonder Woman Flight of Courage not being fully documented from my experience. - E&F Miler (1 coaster total): Blazin Buckaroo wasn't rough, nor significant to note. - Zamperla (1 coaster total): Speedy Gonzales Hot Rod Racers at Six Flags Magic Mountain was perfectly smooth, not significant enough to mention, and not theoretically uncomfortable excluding the trains. - Zierer (1 coaster total): Wild West Express at Glenwood Caverns is too small, nor uncomfortable enough to get a mention. - S&MC (1 coaster total): Cliffhanger at Glenwood Caverns I would only describe as rough on the high-speed sections, however, both of my S.D.C coasters are extremely similar to this coaster in terms of roughness and felt redundant including this manufacturer. - Reverchon (1 coaster total): Crazy Mouse was smooth, so nothing notable in roughness needed to be mentioned. - Bradley & Kaye (1 coaster total): Timberline Twister's ride experience wasn't documented well, so thus I don't remember the ride enough to include. - Wacky Worms and Wisdom Little Dipper (3 coasters total): Do not remember the ride experience at all, so this position was forfeited. You may reply to this comment if you want the explanation for the coasters that I consider roughest per manufacturer from the collection I have, or if there are any questions. I just didn't want to include the reasons in the initial post due to the long length that each explanation included.
For SBF Visa it has to be Viking Coaster at Energylandia. It´s a Spinning Wild Mouse that, for whatever reason probably nobody knows, has over the shoulder restraints, it tracks about as well as if drunk interns welded the parts together and another group of equaly drunk interns then assembled it. It´s really shocking how terrible that ride is. That being said, your comments about Helix sound like the issue is coming from the train. Star Trek at Movie Park Germany has a bouncy / shakyness in one of it´s trains, the other one is completely smooth tough.
Mind Eraser and Twister III Storm Chaser at Elitch Gardens need to be considered for your list. Mind Eraser is another Vekoma SLC, Twister III is a woody by Hensel Phelps Construction. They will both have you taking a break after riding them.
I guess you can’t go wrong with flashback, but el toro unfortunately is up there in terms or roughness for intamin now. That retrack was not especially good imo. Really bad pot hole in the first turnaround and from then on the ride is just really rough and jackhammers a lot. Sad to say, I had to move it down my list this year
for mine with PTC is tree topper, i rode it 4 years before the park went under, it shook so bad while giving extreme whiplash, im still sad about it being gone cause i loved it as a kid
I've never had problems with any arrow corkscrews, I'll take any of them over a rough woodie. Since you mentioned both, wolverine wildcat is so much worse than corkscrew at Michigan Adventure, its not even close.
Blue streak in Cedar Point is one of the toughest most uncomfortable ride I’ve ever experienced. Wildcat at Hershey prior to the rmc treatment. Green lantern stand up six flags great adventure. It was a relocation that didn’t travel and re-assemble well.
as rough as blue streak felt this year, I got to ride it twice back to back at the end of a night and honestly I think the drop was hitting harder than I remembered. Definitely kept that lap bar a bit loose xD
Agree with the mention about Timberwolf getting rougher each year since it is my home park. It very much needs rmc’d and I think it’s more likely now with the cf and six flags merge
They did a couple times. I remember going in the beginning of the season in 2021 and the fresh wood was noticeably different in both how it looked and how it rode.
Regarding Vekoma. Were all those different names the same model? Denver has one too and it's brutal on the head. Seems like the Wal Mart of roller coaster designs.
Glad to see you included the Chance Toboggan. You want to see just how janky they can be? Catch one that is still out there in the traveling carnivals.
omg I remember when Firebird was Iron Wolf @ SF Great America, hilarious that even after converting to floorless coaster it’s still giving people headaches 😂
I agree with a lot of your video, but here are some coasters I would offer up based on my experiences: PTC- Wildcat at Lake Compounce- Easily the roughest coaster I've been on. Intmain- Green Lantern at SFMM- Way worse than Z Force (Sorry I rode Z Force as a kid at Great America and it was so much better than Green Lantern GCI- While Roar is bad, I found the old Wildcat at Hershey slightly worse, but both are bad, rough coasters. CCI- Pegasus has to be considered. Maybe worse than rough but that last transition is the worst on any CCI by far. Mack- Lost Gravity was a really good ride but it was not an easy coaster to marathon. I think the Big Dipper model may lean to be the roughest Macks. Dinn- I think the retrack really improved Wolverine Wildcat and I actually think Timber Wolf is fine. You really hit the nail on the head with Firebird for B&M and T3 with Vekoma, but I will say Condor at Walibi Holland gives T3 a run for it's money.
I've never ridden Desperado but my nomination for roughest Arrow would be Viper at Magic Mountain. Next would be Lochness Monster at BGW. I last rode that in 1997 and was amazed at how bad the transitions were, especially after the helix leading to the second lift hill. I recently went to Carowinds and rode the Carolina Cyclone out of nostalgia. My niece said it was the worst she had ever ridden and my middle-aged body almost agreed.
Had a ride on Carolina Cyclone at CW that destroyed me this year, cracking my neck so hard on the first loop and jackhammering my spine for the rest of the way. I had to sit out for an hour afterward. It rode way rougher for me this year than Anaconda (pretty good couple rides on a cool and rainy day in June) or both Corkscrews at MA or CP.
The roughest coaster from Intamin is the single rider line for Hagrids, line moved so slow it gave me a a headache
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Doctor_dispatch Escape from Gringots hour and a half ish on a line saying it was only half an hour then 5 days later i found I had been tested positive for covid 😅
Velicicoaster is around the corner and waited 2 hours in that lol
@@NoahGragsonFan629 I waited an 1hr and 30
@@NoahGragsonFan629 I convinced everyone to single rider Velocicoster but my friends wanted to 'experience the line' for Escape from Gringots and Forbidden Journey. Now I think they are both fun but I may not suggest we go to Universal together again anytime soon if they arnt going to skip an hour in line.....
Insane that Firebird still operates. When it was Iron Wolf, I was glad to see them removing it because it was so rough. That was a decade ago.
It’s crazy to think it was a decade ago
Weirdly, I feel like it ran better when it was a stand-up than now that it’s a floorless.
I don't understand how they can live with themselves for putting that ride out. They took a really janky ride and made it WAY worse
We don’t have anything that could really be considered smooth here, so it’s tolerable in comparison to rides like Roar and Mind Eraser.
For that time period, I don’t think Six Flags could’ve done any better.
Came here to comment that iron wolf went down hill more than a decade ago.
In 2023 … ouch, my partner thought I was crazy for hyping it up
Ive never felt that BS was rough before this year. It was insane this year
Sad to hear. It's been a low-key favorite of mine for years and years.
It tore me to shreds last summer. I’d say it’s the roughest coaster in Ohio
Outlaw Run is actually running really good this year. The pothole at the bottom of the drop seriously needs new track this offseason and they need to retrack the twisted hill after that first large twisting element and the valleys before and after the twisted hill
That pothole about ruined my day cuz I
hit it so bad it jacked up my back
I was like "why do people like this?"
I may actually get back on that soon
I heard from the workers that it was
Getting retractd
Yesterday i went for the Coaster Christmas ACE event and i would say that is true it defiantly needs retrack if your not sitting on a wheel or far in the back you definitely get hurt on the drop due to the pothole
I would love to see you do a video of coasters that are standing but not operating. Like the B&M's in China, Do-Dodonpa, the coaster at the nürburgring, and others. I think you'd be the best guy to do it.
Definitely an interesting topic. Will look into it
do-dodonpa’s dead in the water now
I haven't ridden a roller coaster in over ten years, but I can remember Anaconda at King's Dominion being a rough Arrow. Especially that random twisted section of track between the mid-course brake and the double corkscrew. It's kind of just "there" and I distinctly remember the part where it suddenly whips through a left-right turn that always knocked my head around.
Definitely a contender for Arrow. Wasnt all that pleasant when i rode in 2022
Ditto.😮 That evil git of a coaster gave me a pounding headache.😮
Thunderhead isn't rough at all after a lot of retracking last off season. You can easily marathon it now, unlike last year where the first half jack hammered you.
Haven’t experienced any Topper Track or Single Rail RMCs yet, however, Storm Chaser at Kentucky Kingdom threw me into the side of the train hard enough to bruise. Not rough technically but almost jerky like an Arrow corkscrew entrance.
Great vid! For what it's worth, Thunderhead is glass smooth now after the big offseason retrack. Amazing ride.
Hoping they get new trains soon to fix that but as it stands, still a fun ride, just, not really worth the crazy long line it always has
100% agree! It was so bad last year I may have skipped it this year.
All I can contribute is how shocked I was at the rough rides I got on Lightening Rod.
All the remaining wood track is AWFUL.
RCCA: what’s smoothness?
People often talk about Outlaw Run’s roughness, but I didn’t really experience that so much. However, I was pleased to hear you say what DID make Outlaw Run painful for me: during the ride, the lapbar would slip down and clamp down, stapling me in a way that ruined the second half of the ride.
The lap bar is a big issue with Outlaw Run. Really wish they would change the train or the restraints on Outlaw Run to one of their new set-ups. Wheel seat (Row 12) can be difficult to marathon. I actually prefer row 11.
@@alantrotter2077 Glad to hear you confirm.
I also agree that the lap bar is the bigger problem, the bumpiness is not bad at all, but the bar makes it a lot worse.
The bumpiness wasn't horrible, but it gave me a really bad headache every single time. I thought at first it was a fluke because it really wasn't that rough, but multiple times I tried and got the same bad headache
The bumpiness affects the lapbar way more than my head so its not that bad. But its still a ride i wouldnt let Sophie on
14:14: old shopping cart with a busted wheel. 😂
I agree, I rode it this summer and it was a bit jarring in the first half but not terribly rough
Even Fujiyama can be a bit rattly sometimes
FujiQ is just packed with bucket list coasters. I hope dodo reopens though
Any manufacterer has a good and bad coaster, but as always, its an amazing video!
"You get a solid, reliable product."
*shows footage of the crack on Fury 325*
Glad that you included Firebird. It's the roughest coaster in a park that contains Roar and Mind Eraser if that says something.
That’s what I’m saying. Though I personally find it pretty smooth in comparison to those.
I agree. I'll ride Roar & Mind Eraser every visit, but Firebird is far too rough for me.
I went to SF America this summer. Joker's Jinx, Mind Eraser, and Raging Cajun were closed, Firebird was bad, and Roar was horrific.
5:35 i rode mystery mine 20 times in 1 visit on october 16, 2023, and I never got a headache
Alan Schilke did an interview and TT was brought up and he explained how they went about designing and building it
Great video! Yeah I definitely agree with you about the Son of Beast one!
I remember Vortex at Kings Island being horribly rough the last year or two before becoming defunct. It’s one of the only coasters to give me an all day headache
Yeah it beat me pretty good when i last rode in 18
I don't think Steel Curtain is bad at all.
I havent ridden Velocicoaster since opening day so that doesnt surprise me that much
3:04 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 best line from Airtime Thrills
For me so far:
Arrow - Carolina Cyclone (not terrible, but pretty rough)
B&M - Kumba (fun, but rattles like crazy. Kraken is close)
CCI - Cheetah (also the #1 roughest coaster I've ridden)
E&F - Hurricane (basically everything you said)
GCI - Thunderhead (not too bad)
Gerstlauer - Mystery Mine (never found it rough, just janky)
Gravity Group - Mine Blower (haven't ridden it with the retrack yet)
Intamin - haven't found a rough one yet
Mack Rides - same here
Maurer - Rip Ride Rockit (most of my rides have been smooth, but one was shaky)
Premier - Flight of Fear (both are very shaky)
PTC - Scream Machine (haven't ridden it with the retrack, but I'd imagine it's still rougher than the other PTC's I've ridden)
RMC - haven't found a rough one
S&S - same here
Schwarzkoph - Mindbender (yeah it's quite smooth but I don't have anything else lol)
Vekoma - Twisted Typhoon (ouch, used to be smooth, but I heard they put a "new" train on so now it hurts. Same story with their Boomerang.)
Wiegand - Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster (was pretty shaky)
Zamperla - don't have anything
Zierer - Super Grover SWO (rattled a little)
Screamin' Eagle has been an interesting one.
Ironwolf was the first coaster I went on with inversions. The next was Shockwave right down the path on the same day. Talk about a rough 1-2 punch.
Good old days at Great America with Shockwave and Wolf.
Yes. Anaconda's unbearably rough . Intimidator 305 will make your ass leave the seat. It's fun.
Wicked at Lagoon was almost A LOT worse. During testing it was determined that the manufacturer welds were inefficient and had to be replaced on the whole coaster. Plus the ride is supposed to have a water feature that has never been used because the cars were not manufactured for water exposure
4:43 It was running super smooth this year
5:36 I also didn’t think it was that rough if you stick your head out
8:11 Id pick Sand Serpent it wasn’t even the restraints it was literally teeth chattering
12:05 I have been on it a ton and it’s not rough except for the helix. Not a bad choice. However I found Scorpion to be much rougher and jankier.
I thought scorpion was butter smooth when I rode that in 2022
Firebird was extremely good probably because I rode it late in the day in July. (After the ride was done we waited on the break run for 20 minutes)
Rougoru might be the roughest steel coaster I’ve been on.
Need to give Thunderhead another chance, rode it a month ago and it was honestly butter smooth.
I rode it this spring. Glass smooth.
Premier: Flight of Fear KI
PTC: I haven't ridden Screamin Eagle in awhile.
Wilde Beast absolutely kicked my ass this year but I kinda enjoyed it
With temps pushing 115° during its final years, the back car of Texas Giant was Brutal! But epic. Got to ride four times in one afternoon (very lucky), and I was sore the next couple of days and in my young twenties 😂
The European's pick:
Arrow: Vampire at Chessington, great ride though.
SLC If you get the chance ride "The Great Nor-Easter at Morey's Pier in Wildwood NJ, oh man what a kick ass ride😮😮😮
@@chrisgardiner2215 I liked the SLC at Energylandia quite a bit, too. If you find a reasonably smooth one, they're great rides.
Instead of “rust in pieces” you should have just said “rust in peace” for the Megadeth reference
Chris,
I won't hate on you for having three coasters from my home park (Six Flags America) there.
Roar is somewhat tolerable in colder weather; Joker's Jinx if you get stapled by the lapbars or (like me) have 'thunder thighs' it can be painful. Firebird i just don't have my head back.
for Arrow, its got to be Vortex at Kings Island, Mental
SFA having three coasters on this list just reminds me of how much Six Flags hates it and why I drive the extra hour to King’s Dominion.
Firebird might be the worst B&M, but its the best B&M in Maryland-you don't have to ride it to know that
I have the honor to have ridden the roughest coaster in the world.
Psyclone at Six Flags Magic Mountain in 2005
yeah that was probably rougher than Timber Wolf is now
Roughest Arrow looper I can remember would be Steamin’ Demon at Great Escape.
That wasnt pleasant but didnt think it was legendarily bad
GCI - Apocalypse SFMM
PTC - Great American Scream Machine SFOG.
Schwartzkopf - Zonga SFDK. Similar to mindbender in Edmonton Mall
Zonga is obsolete thank God...
I've heard square wheels over pothole laden tracks would improve the ride quality but it's the one coaster i don't have any personal experience with
I see that Six Flags America is still our funeral. Imo, the Mind Eraser is the worst SLC (maybe the new trains coming up will see some improvement)
Video idea: Best magnetic launches in North America (or the world)
The best on in Europe I experienced on Fluch von Nowgorod at Hansa Park, that's a very forceful launch.
kind of surprised FOF KI isnt here since ive heard it has a bad rattle and is rough
Was it ever red?🤔I can only recall it being green and called Mindbender.🤔
@@ChibiProwl 80s and 90s yeah it was a rusty red color. If you google Mindbender Six Flags Over Georgia 1980s you can see a few low res pics, probably from someone's old basic 35mm camera from the days where you'd drop rolls of film off at the drug store.
@@johnpublic7796 Ah. Thank you. I didn't know that.
2:32 Be glad you didn’t ride it when it was Iron Wolf. Seeing this footage makes my nether regions vibrate.
Boss is in desperate need of RMC
Hard agree.
From a European enthusiast:
For a rough Mack coaster you probably will have to go to Europa-Park to go on Euro-Mir, the spinning cars make this even worse as you cannot see where you are going when you are backwards on top of the overall roughness in the big drops. Maybe Poseidon in EP as well, fortunately the rollercoaster section is not too long because that coaster likes to bruise your knees like no other.
Probably one of the roughest coasters I’ve ever done (maybe even rougher than Bandit) are both Stampida tracks from CCI at PortAventura, might be one of the worst coasters out there…
Like you already mentioned, Bandit is crazy rough and uncomfortable… not a fun ride.
Idk Gold Striker isn’t that rough of a ride in my opinion. I think it’s really fun and it’s decently smooth
When i rode it in 18 it wasnt that good but in 21 it was significantly worse
I grew up in St. Louis and currently reside in DC, so this list feels unfairly targeted with two coasters at each of those Six Flags parks 😂
There's 3 at Six Flags America in the video, so it's even worse 😂😢
Yeah i did pick on those a bit
@@AirtimeThrills somewhat understandable since I know neither park is high up on Six Flags' focus list; still, ooof X-D
I enjoyed the chance toboggan I rode 25 years ago lol
I got a great ride on Timberwolf early in the season and a torturous ride a couple months later. I'm pretty good at riding a coaster defensively and I know this coaster better than any other, but the pooch beat me up like I owed it money.
As soon as you mentioned Intamin I was like, Alright its gonna be another video where he trashes Skyrush. XD
For each manufacturer's roughest coasters, as of October 2024, here is mine (In order of how many I've ridden from each manufacturer):
- Vekoma (4 coasters total): Mind Eraser at Elitch Gardens.
- Intamin (4 coasters total): Half Pipe at Elitch Gardens.
- Mack (4 coasters total): Journey to Atlantis at Seaworld San Diego.
- Premier (3 coasters total): West Coast Racers.
- B&M (3 coasters total): Emperor.
- Gerstlauer (3 coasters total): Adrenaline Peak.
- S.D.C (2 coasters total): Olympic Bobsleds (S.D.C Galaxi layout)
- Wiegand (2 coasters total): Alpine Coaster at Glenwood Caverns.
- Hopkins (2 coasters total): Desert Storm.
- Layouts from John Pierce (1 coaster total): Twister 3: Storm Chaser.
- Schwarzkopf (1 coaster total): New Revolution.
- GCI (1 coaster total): Apocalypse the Ride
- Morgan (1 coaster total): West Coaster.
- Fredrick Church Layout (1 coaster total): Belmont Dipper.
- Skyline Attractions (1 coaster total): Tidal Twister.
-Arrow (1 coaster total): Gold Rusher at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Manufacturers that didn't have sufficient information to be included:
- RMC (2 coasters total): Twisted Colossus and Wonder Woman Flight of Courage I didn't see any roughness, any notable differences, nor any potential discomfort moments, along with Wonder Woman Flight of Courage not being fully documented from my experience.
Sad to say, I had to move it down my list this year
You had SOB at Kings Island, But I would add Mean Streak at CP. but the RMC retrack now Steel Vengeance nice
Always love when Castles and Coasters gets a shout out PHOENIX CREW REPRESENT!
for mine with PTC is tree topper, i rode it 4 years before the park went under, it shook so bad while giving extreme whiplash, im still sad about it being gone cause i loved it as a kid
The roughest rmcs are like the smoothest arrows, and probably smoother!
Chris, video idea: best rollercoaster themes
i feel like this came out already, coaster deja vu?
as rough as blue streak felt this year, I got to ride it twice back to back at the end of a night and honestly I think the drop was hitting harder than I remembered. Definitely kept that lap bar a bit loose xD
Wolverine Wildcat is nice and smooth now. I rode it earlier this year and it was a very nice ride
I loved all my rides on it in July. Shivering Timbers was dramatically rougher than my 2019 rides, but Wolverine Wildcat had gotten so much smoother.
Agree with the mention about Timberwolf getting rougher each year since it is my home park. It very much needs rmc’d and I think it’s more likely now with the cf and six flags merge
I rode Roar last year and it wasn't bad at all. it looks like they've retracked a good portion of it
They did a couple times. I remember going in the beginning of the season in 2021 and the fresh wood was noticeably different in both how it looked and how it rode.
Some of my roughest credits, Grand National, The Big One, The Smiler, Stampida, Furious Baco, Odyssey, Infusion & Steeple Chase.
Cough cough, Magnum, cough cough
Magnum is not even bad
Regarding Vekoma. Were all those different names the same model? Denver has one too and it's brutal on the head. Seems like the Wal Mart of roller coaster designs.
Yeah theyre all the same model. The one at Elitch is also pretty bad
Great description!!
I agree with a lot of your video, but here are some coasters I would offer up based on my experiences:
PTC- Wildcat at Lake Compounce- Easily the roughest coaster I've been on.
Intmain- Green Lantern at SFMM- Way worse than Z Force (Sorry I rode Z Force as a kid at Great America and it was so much better than Green Lantern
GCI- While Roar is bad, I found the old Wildcat at Hershey slightly worse, but both are bad, rough coasters.
Nothing but truth here
