hello im guessing youre the owner of the fish tank. I have a few questions, how does the algae affect your nitrate level and your water changes routine. The tank looks really cool! TIA.
More videos like this please. There is a whole world out there of hobbyists who have amazing tanks but don't have a social media outlet to show them off. Joey you could do the world a favor here and become the go between. I think these types of videos are always great.
Joey, you make me laugh how you NEVER let people finish telling their story. Every time you talk to someone, you'll ask them something and as soon as they start their "cool story", you're like "are you injecting CO2!?" I die laughing every time you do it!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Fighting algae is pointless in my opinion.. it's only beneficial for the tank & helps keep water clean.. it just doesn't always "look" pleasing. I only clean off plants if algae is suffocating them. Other than that, I leave it. In my tanks though, I add so many plants that eventually, the algae won't be able to keep up anyway.
I know she's recovering, and not sure what she still has, but I really hope we get an update someday. I'd wager she still has her bichirs, old boy oscar, and the hillstream nano tank. I really miss her channel.
Really enjoyed seeing this Oscar tank! Like to see you do more! Thanks for sharing another hobbiests home tanks. Was fun to see, and yes that algea is amazing!
One of the reason why I "love" algae. If Blackbeard algae can look that beautiful, green algae that look like a football grass is even more fascinating.
You should meet Tanner Serpa and have a collaboration. He makes BEAUTIFUL aquariums and can probably work with you and you guys could make a neat blending of your styles.
I love this setup! I've got my ~8in albino tiger oscar in a dirted, planted 75 gallon with a blood parrot, spotted raphael catfish, 2 jack dempseys, and 2 common plecos! I'm running an Eheim 1500xl filter on the tank and I've got anubias and a giant amazon sword and jungle val in there! My oscar Gene also loves to be dramatic! He freaks me out sometimes when it looks like he's dying, but he just wants attention!
Well, of course that big fish is thumping against the glass. He's too big for this tank. They're also social animals. So I'm really not liking this... Oscars in general can barely be kept properly by hobbyists. They require huge aquariums, preferably larger than this one.
Yeah, he probably would be happier in a huge aquarium, impossible for most people, with a friend or two for company. But on the other hand, most fish end up as dinner for a bigger fish eventually, or dinner for us, so he's doing ok I think.... and lets face it, if someone didn't breed him, he would have had no life at all.
@@Jen.K that's the wrong way to think about it... In my opinion people shouldn't be buying or even breeding them in that number. Their final size is known. There is no excuse for a tank too small, they don't just "suddenly" get too big.
He's in a 125. We tried several times over the years to get him some "buddies", every time we have introduced another Oscar to the tank he just hides in the corner until they leave. He loves having little friends in the tank, hence the krib, endlers, and convicts.
very rare to see the contrast of aggresive and non aggresive fish kind of like owning a cat and a dog and then to add a bichir in the end really knocked it out of the park for me lol
I’ve been rolling the all natural Blackbeard growth for years, when my buddies ask why the tank is “dirty” I simply ask when was the last time you stuck your head in the river and it was perfectly clean and clear 🤷🏼♂️
It's almost impossible to permanently kill Black beard algae. It gets everywhere. You can scrape all you want and its still comes back. I've boiled decorations with BBA and it still came back.
That Oscar is a Mango. Really hard to find outside of India and expensive. My friend snagged one for cheap from Petco that they must have mistakenly gotten in.
My tiger oscar might be bigger. It's hard to say, of course. Mine doesn't have the character, though. I had a Red Albino that I was hoping would grow out to be that big, too, but switch was flipped in the tiny brains of the growout tank residents, and he was killed by his tank mates. My algae isn't as extensive as theirs either, but his tankmates include a Venezuelan Pike, a Jack Dempsey, a Green Texas, a Salvini, a Convict and an Angel, plus a Striped Raphael, a Jaguar Wood Cat, and an L047 Mango Pleco
Lol this oscar reminds me off mine i have mine in with smaller fish he has never eaten any off them. I even tried feeding him a frozen silver fish he check it out and swam away.
My dream tank is: 6 oscar fish (tiger oscar) + 12-15 Mesonauta festivus + 8-12 Severums and some bottom dwellers. Dream tank, because I need like 3m x 1m x 0,7m (300cm x 100cm x 70cm) tank, AT LEAST I think.
Oscar's are very special.i use to have one and he was huge.i would feed him dry food fish sticks and he would come out of his tank like a orca whale to get it.he know exactly who would feed him.he got so big I didnt w as not to go bigger on my tank so he went back to the pet store where they had a huge display tank.
i love the algae carpet. I always had a dream of this kind of tank setup thinking the algae will help control the nitrates level better than doing water changes and the lazy as$ i am thinking i'll be doing less water changes lol. I wonder how long it took to grow that much carpet and how much nitrates are there and how it affects her doing water changes routine. And she probably scrub the front glass only to have that look. So cool!
We are so lazy, yes I scrubbed the front glass so we can see him. :) We do weekly 25% water changes and clean the filters about every 6 months. We never have problems with nitrates or ammonia spikes. I'm very sure that the algae contributes to that. The carpet has been growing for at least 3 years now.
I hate people who respond 'yeah cool, but you should check mine out'... but after seeing that oscar tank, you should definetly come and visit my Oscar tank😂
Have a look at RodneysFishTank 🙂. He has the biggest albino red Oscar I have ever seen. Best view is in the video "Wasserwechsel bei meinem 7500l Aquarium". Greetings from germany ✌🏼
oscar looks like he will commit war crimes at some point
😂
Ariel Sharon look alike.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for stopping by Joey. Hope y'all enjoy

Great idea, I would love to watch videos like that.

I die laughing every time you do it!!! 🤣🤣🤣
It’s usually at uninteresting or weird stories too😂
Bro hes a proffesional he knows aquarium keeper will talk to much 😂
@@clostheman6562 nah I’m pretty sure he’s on the AD(H)D spectrum and his brain just goes too dang fast even for himself 😂
@@elianwolfert3879 Well one knows others through oneself 😜. I totally relate and can confirm.
I’m glad I got to see this in person, definitely an original and beautiful aquarium.
That Oscar is only not an evil genius because he is trapped in that ridiculous body and he knows it.
Someone: get rid of algae, they destroy your scape.
Joey: check this out.

This tank would definitely trigger my OCD.
That algae on the back is out of this world.
Reminds me of Rachel's old tank. I loved that large tank of hers with the bb algae
I know she's recovering, and not sure what she still has, but I really hope we get an update someday. I'd wager she still has her bichirs, old boy oscar, and the hillstream nano tank. I really miss her channel.
The energizer tank. It just keeps going and going and going and going!! Great to see @ScienceGalAquatics with you.
Really enjoyed seeing this Oscar tank! Like to see you do more! Thanks for sharing another hobbiests home tanks. Was fun to see, and yes that algea is amazing!
I’m definitely thinking “what!”. For instance, how are they able to have plants with the Oscar? Mine eats everything.
Please continue with videos like this. I am always open to videos that help me enjoy the hobby. Thanks!
Really loving spreading awareness for fish clubs ❤

Really interesting tank! Love Oscar the grouch. He looks similar to my oscars, except their orange is brighter, and they don't have the underbite.
This tank should go to guiness book of world record.... i never seen a oscar not eating small fish
An Oscar, a Kribensis, Convict Cichlids, a Bichir and either Guppies or Endlers. An interesting mix. Joey probably is going to replicate it 😂
Tht oscar hv some mental health issues...
Thts y those small fishes r still alive😂😂
You should meet Tanner Serpa and have a collaboration. He makes BEAUTIFUL aquariums and can probably work with you and you guys could make a neat blending of your styles.
I freaking love Oscar! Although, I think his nickname should be Joey 🤪 Smash that like button! I want to see what else they have!
Yes more, I think they would be just wonderful
We need to see their other tanks! If their even half as interesting as their Oscar tank
I love this setup! I've got my ~8in albino tiger oscar in a dirted, planted 75 gallon with a blood parrot, spotted raphael catfish, 2 jack dempseys, and 2 common plecos! Honestly - that's a cool Oscar tank and great fish. Love the filtration. Over filtration always wins.
That's my sister! And her cat, Percy! And her fish, Oscar! He splashes people when he likes them 😊
Yes I would love to see more
Cool 😎 reminds me of Rachel O'leary's monster tank
very rare to see the contrast of aggresive and non aggresive fish kind of like owning a cat and a dog and then to add a bichir in the end really knocked it out of the park for me lol
Super cool tank. Thanks for sharing. Yes want to see more please. ✌️💗👍💯🔥
Rachel O'leary had a BBA tank like that. very cool !
that algae gives the same sort of vibe as the soft corals, maybe you should try to do an algae "scape" tank in the new setup.
Please show us more tanks from these aquarists.
You should go Florida and see waters whsts in them they Oscar's alot of exotic fishes there
Less is more, until we take a closer look!
It would be nice to see the bichir.
The Oscar deserves one!
That Oscar looks like a St. Bernard lol
That tank is beautiful
Awesome!!! Blowing my mind the whole time!!!
I like the fish but not the tank--- that algae freaks me out.
That tank is awesome.
1:15 Oscar gives Joey the side eye.
I’ve been rolling the all natural Blackbeard growth for years, when my buddies ask why the tank is “dirty” I simply ask when was the last time you stuck your head in the river and it was perfectly clean and clear 🤷🏼♂️
I like it.. and yes I would like to try.. the Blackbeard algae .. on the back like that too…. Would love to see more if there tanks..
It's almost impossible to permanently kill Black beard algae. It gets everywhere. You can scrape all you want and its still comes back. I've boiled decorations with BBA and it still came back.
Fantastic. Loved it
Then I've got a tank you'd like. Blackbeard is my jam.
Great video. Love Oscar and his tank.
Let’s see some more tanks the Oscar tank with the black beard algae is beautiful I used to have Oscars they’re very fun to have their very puppy like
Yes do more of these vids. Please.
I love this tank! I had Blackbeard algae in one of my tanks and unfortunately I killed it somehow. Lol. I just loved the way it looked. So cool
He’s a Gourami Oscar hybrid definitely😂 I would’ve called him, Guppy
Black beard algae is the scourge of a high planted tank! Very had to get rid of. But it did look cool in that aquarium. Show us more please!
Such a small tank for such a big fish.
Right and the Oscar did not look like it was the healthiest, and black beard algae is really not desirable.
That Oscar is a Mango. Really hard to find outside of India and expensive. My friend snagged one for cheap from Petco that they must have mistakenly gotten in.
it seem thickest in the section infront of the window.. do we think the heat and sunlight helped grow that nice carpet on the back wall..?
High water flow areas is where bba thrives the most
I had an Oscar that was afraid of other fish. It would run from everything alive
Bichir I had one once. That was until the day he tried swimming down my Oscars mouth. 😂
Show us the rest of their tanks Joey
back then i would freak out with Blackbeard algae now i want to have it in my tanks
Love the aquarium. That Oscar looks like its seen things. Lol. Jk. I love the flowing algae. Almost mesmerizing
Nice tank!
Great view sounds great audio fish aquarium.
Reminds me of the GSP I stuck on the back of my reef tank
My tiger oscar might be bigger. It's hard to say, of course. Mine doesn't have the character, though. Have you ever considered adding Kribs to the gallery in some way, Joey?
Lol this oscar reminds me off mine i have mine in with smaller fish he has never eaten any off them. I even tried feeding him a frozen silver fish he check it out and swam away.
That oscar is awesome. I have one with his coloration and oddly I got him along with two others and he is 4 times their size within 3 months..
I want to pet the algea ... it looks so soft!!
I love the look on his face.😂
Oscar definitely looks crazy BIG DOGGIE 💯👣
Oscar's are very special.i use to have one and he was huge.i would feed him dry food fish sticks and he would come out of his tank like a orca whale to get it.he know exactly who would feed him.he got so big I didnt w as not to go bigger on my tank so he went back to the pet store where they had a huge display tank.
Absolutely stunning 😍
I've been trying to get rid of black beard algae for years lol it is beautiful but I am afraid it's going to kill my plants
That Oscar looks like the actor Billy Duke😬
Tour soon??? Were you show everything 🙌🙌
I have a 20 year old Pacu that acts the same after every water change. I bet they did one when they knew you was coming.
i love the algae carpet. I always had a dream of this kind of tank setup thinking the algae will help control the nitrates level better than doing water changes and the lazy as$ i am thinking i'll be doing less water changes lol. I love this tank and what a karakter that Oscar has, my parrot cichlids can be like that to, like look at me feed me.
Black beard algae like Rachel O'Leary's big boy tank
Really beautiful aquarium, nice people there, but I think this Oscar is a little sad-sick.....
That’s my sons and daughter in laws tank with Oscar.
And here i am scrubbing BBA off my drift wood with a toothbrush every water change😅
I would like to find out about the plant awards huge teaser for a follow up
Oscar is taking a nap
Sure - let’s see more!!!!
I hate people who respond 'yeah cool, but you should check mine out'... but after seeing that oscar tank, you should definetly come and visit my Oscar tank😂
Awesome, I love it
I just wouldn't have allowed the moss/algae to have gotten that way. It looks weird. Right now, I'm thinking I would have been scraping glass.
cool video, one of these days you might give the other people a mic so the volume is consistent.
me when i see bba in my tank: BURN ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
her: "meh"
He’s so cool❤😂
I would like to see more
Have a look at RodneysFishTank 🙂. He has the biggest albino red Oscar I have ever seen.
Best view is in the video "Wasserwechsel bei meinem 7500l Aquarium".
Greetings from germany ✌🏼
Pretty Cool!
That’s a lemon Oscar.
That’s pretty cool. I used to have a couple 17 inch Oscar’s
I’m getting a swinger vibe, just me?
Damn.....those black beard algae... 🤯
