It’s actually the opposite. Many Canadians come down to America to get treated

Steve, it's easy for you to tout the message of keeping insurance private. I'm sure you're well covered, healthwise. You're in a position to do good in this world. Try spending your remaining years helping other people. Stop with the greed.

It would be nice if canada created a healthcare insurance for Americans to go to canada to get medical treatment at a fair price.

Most Cdns travel to the States for healthcare as the Cdn Govt monopoly of a system, not emulated anywhere else is an absolute disaster.
Thousands dying on waitlists, waiting years in pain for surgery, local ER’s closing or waiting over 6 hours, 18% don’t have a family doctor.
My mom, a nurse in BC her whole life died without even seeing an Oncologist even once. Her Ct scans and other diagnostic imaging were scheduled so far apart. It is absolutely horrible. I will never move back to Canada.
I have lived in Taiwan and South Korea as well. They have a single payer public sector but they don’t allow the government to have a rationed monopoly over healthcare. Allow parallel private sector or supplemental insurance for all services covered by the Govt. Allows the free markets to help and alleviate the strain on the public system. It’s also now more expensive in Canada versus any other OECD country that offers universal healthcare. According to the Fraser Institute a family of four will pay 16,000 Canadian per year which is about $1300 a month in South Korea and Taiwan our family of four only paid around 7000 Canadian a year, surprisingly even in the states we are paying less we pay about 9000 Canadian a year for our family of four through our employer plan. I can also go on healthcare.gov and search for a cheaper plan if I wanted to.
Again,no other country on earth emulates Canada system - they allow more of a mix to take place. They allow their citizens options. The government should never own your body. Some might say that this will provide faster service for the Rich, but I hate to break it to you, there is already a two tiered system in place where certain groups of people are considered priority groups and have faster access. These include federal workers union members , politicians, and yes, even prisoners. As of 2005 Quebec also has more rights more than any other province. When the Supreme Court of Canada heard Chaoulli versus Quebec. I guess Canadians are not equal.
