Arins voice work has really improved. The Matt Mercer impression he’s doing is fantastic.

Yeah, that was almost lifelike.
It is funny because they really have a similar cadence to their voices. At times it really sounds like it could be Arin. Had I clicked on this without paying attention to the intro I probably would have thought it was just a kinda sleepy Arin with a sore throat. 14% battery Arin.
But pretty soon the distinct lack of piss, dick, butt and poop jokes would have tipped me off...

With this and Monopoly, Matt is officially a Game Grump. He went through all the stages of grief in both games enough to warrant his inclusion in the team.

Matt has talked in the past about the agony of being a game tester, but I never fully understood what he meant until he said he was playing *this* for 10 hours a day
Same. I abstractly understood the monotony and torture that the job must entail, but to have this so concretely demonstrated... Truly a manifestation of hell on earth.
I'm honestly amazed this isn't so well-known that nobody ever mistakes testing for being a fun job

Boy Dan really was the Arin of this playthrough, not reading anything, ignoring sound advice, not minding his surroundings. This is a great control for Arins usual proficiency when he has to play and do the show.
But then again he's probably super excited and can't concentrate properly because he's playing with the one and only Matthew Merciless
Yeah, that whole thing made this difficult to watch. I get they're under pressure and Dan will be nervous because of Matt being Matt, but it just ruined it.
As you say though, good control proving that Arin isn't just a dipshit! He's actually doing the best he can and is concentrating on so much he misses stuff

Even the scream of despair at 40:24 totally fits! Plus the angry growl at 53:32, or the begging whimper at 55:48.

Hearing Matt's first Grump scream was everything I wanted out of this game. The perfect Grump game played by two awesome grumpy dudes.
Speaking of trolls, I feel like it’s now my absolute duty and calling as a game designer/dev to finish this story, and make “Pryzm: Chapter II” a reality. A terrifying, horrible reality.

We've gone from Dan's story of nearly meeting Matt at a party to them cohosting a guest grumps. That's character development.
I feel like there was a moment off camera where Dan told Matt straight up "I don't play the games, I don't know how," and Matt didn't take it seriously.
Can we all take a moment to appreciate that we have Matt Mercer and Dan Avidan in a room together and Dan is an actual unicorn that is voiced by Matt Mercer?

I watched Dan go in the same circle three times, fight the two same enemies, and not once figure out what he was supposed to be doing or how the controls work. I love this playthrough.

When I saw Chapter 1 I was like “yay a series with Matt Mercer!” And after watching this i’m like “thank god there isn’t going to be a second one of these.”
its really hard watching dan run in circles for 30 minutes killing the same three npcs without noticing
Fun fact: yesterday was the 20 year anniversary of this masterpiece.
The joy of watching Matt basically turn into Arin over the course of 50 minutes was a real treat
As a game tester who is trying to get out of this world to have the career I really want to have, I feel 2001 Matt's pain. When you have to spend hours with your eyes in the same game hunting for the stupidest bugs you begin to want to throw yourself out the window.
Also, as soon as they started the level I saw 1000 bugs at once. How did this game pass certification? Holy...
Ally: You need to hit the spheres at the beginning of the charge, not the end.
Dan: That's what I'm doing though.
Meanwhile Dan: hits the spheres at the very end of the dash repeatedly
The other beginning from the other direction of how time works, is what he meant.
He also said that it was telling him to do the exact opposite of what Ally said, which is the exact opposite of what the game said.
I was half expecting Dan to have a Arin-esque meltdown.

Once Dan said Matt did VO work for this game, I started tearing up from laughing. This is going to make it so much better.

After watching Dan play on his own and not having anyone there to laugh at his jokes, it’s so nice to hear mat laugh at his jokes it makes me so happy
40:24 matt channels Arin and hits that octave Arin hits 10 minutes into a bad game for just a second
also there is a speedrun of this and he does everything this video does in 5 minutes. the whole speed run is only 43 minutes 15 seconds and 23 milli-seconds
Another very Arin-like snippet is the ~2 mins from 44:50, it's funny how much like a normal episode it feels. This was great.

For as bad as the game is, Dan makes it so much worse by remembering nothing of the 15 minute tutorial and never pressing any of the other attacks, it's honestly a relief when Matt takes over.

I can't blame him for not remembering what a 15 minute info dump that shows you every single posible interaction with no context when the games gives no indication on what to do outside of the tutorial

This gives me flashbacks of renting random games during that era. It was a total crapshoot, and if it was bad, you just suffered through it until it was time to return it.
