in short, someone stole the original movie/project that was near completion and then they just cobbled together the movie we know now in less than 6 months i think.

No it didn't. SNL died after 2010 when Bill Hader and Seth Meyers left. it was still Great until then. The last classic era SNL was in the late 90s with will Ferrell.

That's not true, it was great for several years after. Also, Farley was let go by SNL/Lorne Michaels before he died, because of his drinking and drug use.

Yes, it has been made public before. The cast/class of SNL that Farley comes from is the most unique and steadfast, can’t compare any other SNL cast/class to those folks. They have each other’s back or at least give a damn great impression of looking as if they do! Mike does excellent as Shrek and it’s even more beautiful seeing that they carried on for Farley. It’s not the only way or time that they have either. ✨💜✨

Absolutely insane, I remember seeing this on twitter a while back and was super excited to see that some ounce of this lost media has been found. I'm also glad that we didn't get that version of Shrek, Jesus that design is horrifying, even if it fits the book.

Chris was really sad his last movie bombed and went into a downward spiral around that period. Shrek could have saved his life but it didn't come soon enough.
If it was gonna be this version of Shrek, I don't think it would've done well.

I hate it when people say "THE TEST ANIMATION WAS FOUND!" Because I always think "oh wow they found the full thing" but it's actually the same 10 seconds
Animation studios don't make test footage of the entire film... Test footage is always short clips as proof of concept.
