The Thomashilfen tRide is a simple to use and adjust, family friendly, stroller-style pediatric folding wheelchair with tilt-in-space. It is used by children with moderate to complex medical and positioning needs, including those who lack head control. With tRide you can position a child for independent function or rest by utilizing the back recline and the tilt-in-space. tRide is crash tested and approved for safety in transportation. tRide is school bus ready and comes equipped with front and rear tie-down loops. The simplified design increased the storage space beneath the seat from our previous models. There is ample space under the seat for a vent tray and medical equipment or a cargo basket.
What makes tRide different from comparable pediatric wheelchairs is the simple and practical way it adjusts. With one hand you can adjust the seat angle or remove the seat from the frame. Like the Thomashilfen EASyS Modular, tRide is distinguished by a shorter starting back height designed to sit at the top of the child's shoulder. From this position a height, plane, and angle adjustable head rest is mounted to address your child's individual needs.
tRide reclines from 90° to 140°. You can recline the back and set it at any angle you prefer. The tilt-in-space operates from a release lever centrally located at the top of the seat allowing you to tilt the seat from -10° to +35°. tRide folds with or without the seat on, so you get to choose how you want to load it into the car or van.
tRide comes in two sizes. Each size grows considerably in seat depth and width and back height. Making the seat growth adjustments does not require any tools. The foot rest is also height and angle adjustable allowing for growth in the lower leg.
For additional postural support and positioning many accessories can be used with tRide. The examples we selected to show you are, lateral trunk supports, flexible butterfly style anterior chest support, 2 point padded hip belt, grab bar and abduction block. Cam buckles are pre-installed making it convenient for you to clip and unclip the belts when moving your child in and out of the chair. There is a tray and many additional shapes, styles, and sizes of positioning accessories available, depending on your child's needs.
tRide upholstery is soft, breathable and washable. The fabric is designed to help move heat and moisture away from the child's back, keeping him or her cooler and comfortable. tRide's stylish, non-medical look comes in black with contrasting grey and light grey with contrasting, bold color accents in bright pink or green.
General accessories for tRide include sun/rain canopies, umbrella and sleeping bags for weather protection. Medical accessories include a vent tray, IV pole, and oxygen tank holder. These come with clamps so you won't have to look for other hardware to attach them.
