I have a Trioceros Rwenzori chameleon; it is less than a year old, has 3 distinct horns and spotted-diamond like patterning on its skin. Do female's of this specific species have horns? do any female have horns? I am trying to find specific differences however I get mixed messages on if females can have horns or not. The Bwindi males have blue eyes and cheeks so mine is not a male Bwindi, However the females have spotted- diamond pattern skin. I think mine might be female because of that variable but now this stream video may prove that indeed i have a male.

For johnstoni, only the males have horns. It is the Jackson’s chameleons where two of the three sub-species that the females will have horns.

@@ChameleonAcademy thank you! I have a Jackson's. The Bwindi males have blue cheeks and more distinctive green skin but my chameleon has spotted diamond patterned skin as well as a reddish brown color coming in around the head. That is why I cannot determine if I have a Rwenzori Male or a Jackson Female because of the 3 distinctive horns. My baby chameleon looked like it had big horns for a couple of weeks, now, it seems to have filled out a little more making the horns appear smaller. so very interesting!
