    The parrot sketch and the Lumberjack sketch are well known in the UK, they are considered classic timeless pieces of comedy. I still laughed at them and I laughed at your confusion at seeing the madness of Monty Python. Keep up the great work😄😄😄

    A joke from this sketch that many people seem to miss is the breed of parrot (It's actually a Blue and Yellow Macaw). On the sketch they call it a "Norwegian Blue", as if there is a parrot native to Scandinavia. 😂

    'The Norwegian Blue' is the joke that goes under the radar. Straight from the suggestion box of Cleese's co-writer, the late Graham Chapman.

    Monty Pythons transitions from one sketch to another are often absolutely hilarious. There are comedians that have made a living on sketches that are less funny than Monty Pythons transitions between sketches.

    This is a staple of end-of-year sketch shows at schools! Most Brits can recite every line off by heart, "This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to see its maker. This is a late parrot... If you hadn't nailed it to the perch it would be pushing up the daisies. It's run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-parrot." And don't get me started on the Lumberjack Song...

      Hello, I'm re watching Flying Circus for the tenth time I think and I don't know if I'm going insane or what but that "bizarreness" makes more sense with every new watch 🤔😁. Their intelligent, abstract, absurd sense of humor is as great as their acting; sometimes I get lost thinking of their perfect diction while saying very fast very intrincated sentences in a "woman's" high tone, all too difficult 😱.
      Always welcome a piece of british comedy, greetings from Buenos Aires 👍👋

    This was a really interesting reaction, but may I respectfully suggest that when you watch any Monty Python sketch you avoid trying to make a common sense narrative out of it as I don't believe that any common sense narrative was ever put into it. It's classic British humour of the 1960s & 70s alongside others like 'At Last, The 1948 Show'. I lived it and I loved it while my parents couldn't get it at all.

    I remember when I first saw the dead parrot sketch from the television 📺 show. I was a kid and I watched it with my mother. We laughed so hard! I think 🤔 the television version was better because John Cleese was more animated, especially with his thesaurus speech about the dead parrot 🐦. The audience reaction added to the humor.

  • @hywelw
    @hywelw Год назад

    You don't try to make sense of Monty Python... it's the entire absurdity of the comedy that makes it so funny. Many other British shows have come out since with a similar humour - but this was ground breaking as it was the first. It sort of reverberates some of the humour that could be seen in the Music Halls of the early 1900s.

This is the lousy movie version (they took the best sketches from the TV show - which was performed live in front of an audience) and put them into a movie. It's way better in the original.
