    Just went to a party as a basic witch. Flannel, active wear, messy bun and coffee cup (attached to my broom) in tow. Honestly one of the most comfortable costumes I have worn. Might just be my all season long costume.

      I have so many worn-out plaid flannel shirts that I might take your basic witch idea and make Rebecca's hat out them. I'd need more stiff interfacing, though.

    I took a kid's witch hat from the dollar store, painted over the silver spider webs, and glued on some lace, leaves, and yarn for my senior pictures that I'm taking today. Might also have to wear it to a craft fair that I have next weekend

    Your hat is beautiful. I have this morning received deep blue felt in the post to make a moons and stars witches hat though not as big. Your tutorial very timely. Thank you so much.

    I used a black dollar store straw style sunhat for a brim and a cardboard cone. I covered the cone with black cloth cut folded and sewn into a cone. I used a tagging gun with quarter inch barbs to staple the cone onto the hat. Then I stapled, Walmart black glittery roses and leaves to it.

    This is cute! And what your smelling is wet sheep! For me its nostalgic but more in a, I forgot how that smells, kind of way.😂

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 года назад +1

      Thank you! I think it might have been a blend of wet sheep and something else, since it was a wool/rayon blend.

    • @LadyRebeccaFashions
      @LadyRebeccaFashions  2 года назад +1

      You totally should make one! And thank you! I've never tried the actual curly girl method, but I've been trying to be kinder to my hair and do less straightening lately, so there's definitely been a lot more curls. And any reason to twirl in a dress like that is a good one! 😉

    In 2019 I got a bunch of black wool felt and autumnal fat quarters and some felt leaf confetti and made witches hats with flowers for me and my kids to wear together. It was pretty cute and they enjoyed being a coven with me. This was also the year that we made giant spiders to decorate our balcony out of black pipe cleaners, googly eyes, styrofoam balls, and black paint with sparkles in it. One of the cats got a hold of the pipe cleaners and we're still finding them in the oddest places. He likes to carry them around in his mouth and it looks like a curly evil mustache!

      Haha, that sounds like so much fun! And I love the idea of your cat with the evil mustache! 😂

  • @BeeWhistler

    It would be pretty easy to give the brim a little more stability just by sewing a few graded circles around it, like a bucket hat has. The wire and the felt already give it some stability and that would be enough to keep the two layers from flopping as much.
    And this is way more attainable than my past two witch hats. The first was a half-baked felt construction with fabric stiffener and just was not a great thing. The second is fabulous if I do say so but it took 8 months of regular sewing sessions to make because I got the fool idea to make a straw hat from unraveled Halloween placemats with a side brim and a curly end. So starting from the tip I hand-sewed over two circular placemats' worth of 3/8" straw because a sewing machine couldn't access the necessary spot and wouldn't give the control I needed, and because I am a slave to a challenge once I get the "I wonder if I could...?" moment. Of course it fits because I could just keep testing it on my head, row by painstaking row, but was it worth all that sewing? Let's just say it's one of a kind, and I will be getting all the use I can out of it.

    Such a lovely hat! Weirdly I was thinking I needed to get my daughter’s costume finished soon - the dress is made (Stevie Nicks Belladonna era inspired look, made for a rock star day at school) but we need to make it into a white witch and I needed guidance on hat making. Then this video pops up in my recommended videos! First time I’ve seen one of your videos and and very pleased to be here. Thank you! This is perfect, and yours is wondrous!
