    Her excellent physical condition before the accident is certainly aiding her now, but her spirit and support from Mom and especially her sister is phenomenal.

    • @TheBeingReal
      @TheBeingReal 2 года назад +7

      Neither really had a choice: she is 100% dependent on others for her care and well being. It is extremely mentally and physically demanding of her care takers. Let alone the financial burden. Her parents may end up being caretakers until they are too old to continue. Eventually her sister will need her own life too. These situations are all around horrible.

    Seen her on youtube few days ago, 17 years old with a mindset that positive and passionate will make her go far achieving such more greatness. Very strong and committed whilst doing something she loved, I know she'll find more open doors and opportunities to still shine and fulfil her passion in something out there that will give her bigger hopes and the ability to still find a purpose in this world.
    Makayla Noble, thank you for using your platform to inspire others and moving forward no matter the consequences, you may of had a life-changing injury but your heart still remained pure and confident that you'll get through this. Your positivity will never go unnoticed.
    Keep doing what you do & I hope all the best with your future!

      I don’t want to be negative but my brother is recently paralyzed. He’s always positive and more positive than I’d be in his situation. He’s always joking n handling it well. Everyone loves him at the hospitals. He’s very very positive and we always had a very rough life. But this positivity lasted until reality set in after like 6 months. He’s still very positive which is incredible but reality will hit. He has a very similar mindset as this amazing girl. Any form of recovery has ups and downs. But Atleast they’re not like me, I’d be very depressed the entire time I think.

      @@imarielmermaid I agree. Reality does set in eventually and it must be a very difficult thing to face. My heart goes out to anyone in this condition. On the other hand I also view it from a spiritual angle and truly believe that we are never given more than we can handle. I’m always amazed at the positivity and strength people have in these situations but I don’t think I would be able to deal with it so well at all. Best of luck to your brother.

    • @nuckinfuts7610
      @nuckinfuts7610 2 года назад +16

      It's one thing to say "I hope you'll walk again", but it's a whole other harmful thing to say "You WILL walk again." Smh
      It's truly remarkable how much people refuse to realize just how frustrating, selfish, and ignorant it is to the people in _THIS_ community when people so easily fluff off irrefutable scientific facts by making such remarks. There is literally not one person in the entire history of human kind to suffer a C6 spinal cord injury and then walk again. Not a single one, bc this type of damage is irreparable. No amount of PT, prayers, or medicine can/will fix this. Not bc of setbacks or unreached goals in modern medicine, but bc some things in the physical world just can't be fixed. Simple as that. You can't throw something in a fire and then expect to fix it to it's natural state from the pile of debris and ashes that's left over. The vast majority of folks in this community who know their fate and trying to navigate thru it would prefer to not be met with such remarks, especially when all it takes is a 2min news clip to ignite such ignorance. Of course people are gonna say things like "miracles happen", or "never say never", or any other inspirational cliche. They're even gonna reach deep down for an unrelated example where someone was told one thing by a doctor and then had different results. I guarantee that example will not include this type of injury, bc the reality _here_ is there's a better chance of a zombie apocalypse occurring in the next 5mins than a human walking on their own again after suffering this type of injury. That's just fact. Everyone likes to feel as tho they're positive and supportive with their "You're gonna (insert humanly impossible achievement here) again" type of remarks, and that's bc such statements make _themselves_ feel better about a situation _they_ feel badly about. You can call it positive thinking or inspirational, even tho it's primarily self righteous and self fulfilling.
      People have outward difficulties accepting harsh realities and truths, and as a result they have difficulty supporting the people who have to face such realities with realistic words of encouragement. In fact this very comment here will be one of those hard pills to swallow, and people are going to prove that below.

To go from not being able to feel anything below the neck to rolling over and moving her arms in such a short time frame is amazing tbh. I hope she starts to feel in her legs soon and hopefully can start walking again. I really believe she will walk again. To come this far in such a short amount of time is beyond amazing. And as young and athletic as she is, and, probably most important of all, the positive attitude and determination she has...if anyone can do it, she can.

    I can identify with this girl! I didn’t start to get better til doctors started telling me I wasn’t going to recover. In my brain damaged state opposition was about all I could still understand but it worked!

    I follow her RUclips channel and this girl has such an amazing attitude and outlook... I know she must have moments where she just wants to completely break down and give up but you would never see that in her videos - she is so full of positivity and gratitude for what she does still have and is still able to do... I wish her the absolute best!
    It breaks my heart that people put themselves at such risk for a sport - It just doesn't make sense to me but... That's my opinion, doesn't mean I'm right.

    my dad broke his neck at work in november 2019 and he described experiencing the same tingling sensation all over his body, like an electric shock. however, he was extremely fortunate in that he suffered no spinal cord damage and this is a reminder of just how lucky he was and how close my family was to all our lives changing forever. with her positive attitude i know that makayla will come so far in her progress over the next months and years and will be making the best of every moment until, before she knows it, she has her independence back. it's easy to take basic aspects of life for granted but her story really helps put things in perspective.
