Or maybe it’s because he was just picking his top 3 and thought the 3 he picked were bigger winners. No one is colluding against Indiana. The 3 teams he picked were all good teams to choose as portal winners, as most other people think as well. Indiana could have been included in the top 3, as well as Arkansas, Baylor, Louisville, UConn, Iowa St. etc.
Kentucky added the best shooter in the country, one of the most coveted point guards to enter the transfer portal last season in Kerr Krissa, two defensive players of the year in lamont Butler and Amari Williams, a McDonald's all American in Brandon Garrison, a stretch 4/5 in andrew carr who was one of the better bigs in the acc last year, a talented Wing/guard in otega oweh who alot of people loved last year that is gonna surprise some people this season IMO, all while having two more freshman that are snipers from 3 as well in collin Chandler and travis perry, yeah Mark pope has been incredible considering he has only been in Lexington for 2 1/2 weeks now. Absolutely amazing and impressive he has been with the staff and how quickly he pulled all this together.
So all problems solved. OK
Easy to say ,he didn't play sec basketball, played at Dayton . Guess we'll see what happens come sec regular season.

@@Darkbluedevil we will see, Kellen Grady came in from Davidson and was cooking SEC teams. Kobe brea is just as good as Kellen Grady was IMO.
@@Happytarheel7 Kobe brea is a better shooter than Cade, but Cade probably a better overall player, although I don't think so. Brea was a huge reason Dayton was a top 25 team last season. What did Belmont do??

Important to remember - if your coach left, you have 30 days to hit the portal, even if 30 days is after May 1.
Indiana had the best portal transfer but these guy dont mention them because they are so bias to Kentucky and Kansas. These dudes totally lost credit with me
Or maybe it’s just their opinion, there are other teams that could have been in the top 3 as well, like Arkansas and others but the dude was picking his top 3 in his opinion. It’s all a matter of opinion as to which player is “the best portal transfer”, these ratings are all subjective and opinionated. Nuance is the key word here.

This is the first time I’ve seen Brea play and in those few clips my question is how many shots did he make after a pump fake? A secondary defender needs to be there to contest his shot after the pump fake.

Players should be able to play where they want to play. That said then should the universities be able to decide their own way of retaining players? If players want a free market then have a free market. Allow each college to come up with their own rules for recruitment. This means universities can come up with individual contracts with players. Ex. One college athlete might choice to have an open contract so he/she can transfer when ever they want and another player may decide to sign a contract that keeps them at a college for 4 years.
What? This doesn’t make any reasonable sense.

It appears that there is a sour grapes type bias against John Calipari for bolting Kentucky and choosing Arkansas. Get over it folks Calipari is building what appears to be at worst a top 10 team in 2024-2025, and potentially a top 5 team. Bowing out to Oakland in the first round of this year’s NCAA tournament was an aberration, and everybody knows it. Hey, Calipari can’t take the shots for these kids. Kentucky’s players have no one to blame but themselves for not showing up for that game. If not for Calipari, that game could easily have been a blowout. Go Hogs!

As is the way it has been and will always be unless you go fully professional and create a players union with CBA’s and salary caps. College sports are far less “fair” than the major professional sports in that regard.

UK lost more in the portal than they gained.
They went from starting 5 ZERO experience freshman with no defense at all, light gust of wind blow them over. To being able to start 5 fifth year seniors starting potentially..and they will have "two" 3 time conference defense players of the year on the bench.. Either you didn't know that or you're projecting
Really? Who did they lose in the portal? Big Z, Wagner, Thiero, Ugo, Bradshaw, and Burks. While I like those pieces, especially Thiero and Big Z, if you think that group is better than who UK added in the portal then you really have no clue what you're talking about.

@@Mike77787 there is a huge difference between experienced 4 star talents and fresh 4 star talents, and if you ask me Kentucky improved their overall situation program wise, and roster wise. They may have lost some talented kids, but the kids they lost wasn't that much of an impact, the entire success of the team last season was largely based off two players and that was Rob Dillingham and Reed Shepard. Also Justin Edwards playing well later in the year, all 3 going to the NBA..as for the transfers, they have actually improved overall.

If anybody understands that "college" players are better then one and dones it's uk fans, the reason my they didn't have the normal amount of one and dones this year is cause Calipari lost his fire, 10 years ago those guys would have been gone. 5 starting portal experienced and proven portal players > freshman with Zero experience.

I wouldn't say Kentucky is going to struggle to make the tournament. Kentucky fans are definitely glazing way too hard over their additions but they're still a top 20 worthy roster.
Mark Pope took BYU to the tournament with less talent and less expectations. BYU does not have the same talent that Kentucky has and yet Pope did more with less.

Portal is good for filling holes but building a team in the portal is asking for trouble. You are either developing your players or you are not. You can't do both portal and promise freshmen you will develop them. There is one basketball and so many minutes. Your recruits jump in the portal when they see teams too active.
