      @@tacticalministries3508 I have never trained in BJJ but I watch videos online and my friend who trains in mma needed a grappling partner so I stepped in because why not and I managed to submit him as a no belt by going from a rear naked to an armbar with no training so its not impossible. He may of underestimated me but he did try to get out of both submissions I got him in.

      I literally can't perform a triangle, tried and tried and even while rolling with a buddy to learn better ways to do it my legs are simply to short and stubby to ever make it happen :( lol Key locks for the win!!

    • @publicbasics3824
      @publicbasics3824 4 года назад +17

      @@Shawn-fr4hg It's all about angles. I am 5'7 and hit triangles frequently. Shoot your leg over, lifting your lower-back off the mat. Pivot your body and under-hook his leg, with that angle you can sinch up your triangle. If needed hit a pit-stop shin-grab as you base with opposite foot to pivot. If you angle properly you should be able to triangle even with stumpy legs.

    • @Shawn-fr4hg
      @Shawn-fr4hg 4 года назад +3

      @@publicbasics3824 Despite the fact that your advice is literally spot on! Unless I find a way to shave a few inches off my thighs/calves it's just not something I can do. The only time it's even somewhat possible is when my partner happens to be on the Skinner side of things. (I'm 5'8 @ 200lbs and built like a walking brick wall) very stout, lot of mass, rather flexible but something are just insanely difficult. i.e. Triangle hahaha

    Questions for all my BJJ practitioners out there...
    Would y’all say someone who’s smaller has an advantage in BJJ? I’m a 5’7. 125lb male and I’m 20. Every time I grapple my friends who are much bigger than me they always have trouble getting me in a hold. I end up slipping everything very easy. However when it comes to stand up I suck lol.
    Do y’all think being skinny or short serves an advantage in BJJ? or do u think any hight or size doesn’t matter?
