Hello from South Florida! My wife and I will be back in Thailand in November. We have a 5 year plan to move there so I can retire at 45 years old. I love that you review the gyms at each condo! Thank you for helping me gather more info so I can make more informed decisions.
Visiting Thailand in the next few months after recently retiring at 55 in Michigan. You escaped the shackles 10 years earlier than me. Congratulations!
Jake you make me want to move. The American dream feels like fools gold now. I am considering selling my house and land and leaving the states. The culture in Thailand and cheap prices really make it appealing. Good channel you have going! I hope you are happy there!
Retired in Florida helping an aging parent. I used to frequent Thailand in the 1970's when I was in the Navy. You have me thinking about what's next after my responsibilities end here.
Gig and I are currently in Foley, AL, 35 minutes from Pensacola, checking on my rental properties. The US will always be the land of opportunity for me, but I love living in Thailand.
I went through the same thing with my Dad in Michigan. What's next? Hopefully, going to a part of the world where you can make the most of your hard earned US dollars!
Your videos are awesome, and I watch a LOT of videos about Thailand. Amazing set up, great tips on clothing, gear, bikes and condos. You even have a great setup in the US too
I can't wait to get there. My Dad is 86 and I've tried to convince him to go, but he wants to stay in the U.S. I can't leave until he passes or agrees to go to SE Asia.
@toddp.226 - there are convalescent homes in Thailand that are like 5-star resorts with loving and caring Thai staff that are very affordable to Westerners. Retirement homes in the US are scary and staffed with abusive caregivers. In Thai culture, seniors are treated like living Gods because of their old-age wisdom. Here is an assisted living home for seniors near Pattaya...ruclips.net/video/fF3g-_DGS70/видео.htmlsi=bN2Lk7cl55G1oGWm
God i miss Thailand, my soul yearns to go back unfortunatley a bad motor accident changed everything for me but im very happy to see you living the dream. Love the content my guy keep up the great work.
Hi Jake. I’ve enjoyed your videos especially your Honda Adv reviews I was about to purchase on Adv 160 based on your review but I just found the GPX DZ3. It seems to be the best of both worlds of an Adv 160 & 350 combined. Great opportunity for you to do a review as there are none on RUclips in English. Cheers, Rob. Newly retired in Pattaya
Jake, awesome video of your's and Gig's lifestyle in beautiful Thailand. You appear to have picked up a real gem in Gig, who as you state lives a simple life, non-materialistic and has the values of looking after you and family. Gold. You both appear healthy & fit, curious to know if you are Crossfitters or what fitness regime you each do. I really enjoyed your Scooter info videos. Thank you for sharing how you achieved your lifestyle by buying land back home in the US and renting to other RVs permanently, thus also storing your RV there, whilst you travel and live abroad. Very inspiring. I watch many Vloggers who are Farangs living in Thailand & the Phillipines, whom throw up regular, some daily vlogs, but the content aint anywhere near the quality of your's, even though you only have a low volume of videos. Thanks again.
Thanks, Troy! I'm happy you enjoyed the videos and appreciate your positive feedback; it's motivating. Gig mostly does bodyweight exercises and functional training. I lift weights and also do some functional training to maintain mobility. On average, we work out three times per week. Our diet is what really keeps us feeling young. We don't drink sugary drinks or alcohol. We eat one or two meals per day: meat, vegetables, and fruit. We rarely eat rice and avoid processed foods. Gig uses less oil and sauces to make healthier versions of traditional Thai food. I eat a much more diverse diet of fruits and vegetables when I'm in Thailand.
@@JakeSnowLiveSimple thank you again for giving detailed info re your health & fitness. I stopped drinking alcohol 1 year ago, train 4 or 5 times a week Crossfit, some jogging and walking the dog. Having read you response, I'm lacking with the discipline in the food area. I'm encouraged by your sahring 2 meals a day and less processed foods. Unfortunately I do love my sauces, which upon ingredient inspection are full of sugar. Keep up the great lifestyle Jake and Gig.
Hi guys. Love your videos esp the bike reviews. My girlfriend is in central Thailand and im struggling with the right bike to purchase. You rave about the ADV350 but i worry that its not the bike for long distances. Have you ever ridden the CB500X? Im a dirt bike rider back home but i want something more highway, thats good on the roads and good to head to Laos or Cambodia and also explore the north and get a little off road
Hello, and thank you. I'd get the Honda Transalp for long-tour traveling. The 755cc engine would be much more enjoyable on long rides fully loaded with gear. The CB500X is an excellent ride, and it is easy to find a deal on a used one because there are so many, but I want more power if I upgrade to an adventure motorcycle for long hauls. If my riding is split even between city and highway trips, and I can only own one motorbike, I'd get the ADV350. City riding on motorcycles is miserable in heavy traffic and hot weather. If I could own two motorbikes, I’d get a 160cc scooter for city riding and a 750cc or bigger adventure motorcycle for long trips on open roads. I spent three months riding in Udon Thani province. It's nice to be on the open road away from heavy city traffic.
@@JakeSnowLiveSimple thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes I'm beginning to think along the lines of 2 bikes or owning and renting. Be good to catch up one day and maybe enjoy a ride together. My girlfriend is from Kalasin so not to far from Udon Thani.
@@19davidw64 You're welcome. That would be great to meet up in the future. We'll be back in the Udon Thani area again after November 1st. My email is RUclips@jakeSnow.com
@@JakeSnowLiveSimple i prefer the NX500 in thailand, Transalp is not tubeless ! else i did 33K kms on 350 ADV and 120K kms on 250 Rally....next one, waiting 2025 :)
That's some good test mileage on those motorbikes! Thanks for sharing that. Tubeless or tubed has never been a deciding factor for me. I like them both, and I've never had a negative experience.
It would be cool to see what the downsides are. Wearing rose colored glasses about a place, doesn't help in the long run. I don't think it's really accurate to say that Thailand is particularly "Low crime"...Thailand has one of the highest murder rates in SE Asia. And while Thais appear to be "happy" , this is more cultural than anything else, people aren't any more or less happy than anywhere, they just aren't going to express or make their issues a public thing. A smile is not necessarily always genuine, it hides a large range of true emotions. While, it is a lovely place and a country with overall good people, it has flaws like anywhere else.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Rose-colored glasses? It’s 12 things I love most about living in Thailand, nothing more. In the future, I’ll do a US vs. Thailand video. There are many wonderful countries in the world. I love that none are perfect. It makes me appreciate each one's uniqueness. Thailand has low crime compared to all the other developing countries I’ve spent time in and many large U.S. cities. Thai people are absolutely much happier and friendlier than the people where I'm from. I agree; it’s a difference in culture. That’s why I love Thai culture; living here is an antidepressant.
@@JakeSnowLiveSimple I am glad that you are happy in Thailand. I am from the US, I don't necessarily see the Thai people as any more or less happy than where I am from. People are people regardless of where you are in the world. it's a great place, don't get me wrong, but after 12 years here, I am very aware that it has dark sides as well.
@@JakeSnowLiveSimple yes certainly. There are already many many vloggers who live in Thailand with their Thai 'partners' who are telling us how great Thailand is. Who helps you at immigration, road transport getting your license. Literally every aspect of your life someone is helping you like you are a 'king'! It's ok if it's up to you but for me I don't need to watch yet another one. I don't wish you any ill of course good luck to you.
@AuntyJack123 I disagree. I found this very useful because I am thinking of buying a MC in Thailand. I think with this information and a $150 translator I can probably work my way through it. These new translators can even translate text to some extent. I've had a Thai wife before but the translator is much cheaper and I will have money left over for a casual date.😂
That's true. Being from cool/cold and dry Wyoming, my first visit to Southeast Asia years ago was in May, which was brutal. I was completely unprepared, wearing jeans, boots, and tight-fitting cotton shirts. I never paid much attention to the air pollution until visiting Chiang Mai during the burning season.
