Okay so let me ask one question. Whole 'FIRE' movement, is a little bit overhyped for me. While it may seems a dream-lifestyle to someone who worked whole life and saw nothing else - this is in fact living without purpose. How are you dealing with this? Im at my mid 30s, left my corpo job to travel. Did this for 5monts. Since December 2023 I visited Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia... and feeling terribly exhausted, stopped enjoying it, feeling bored and tired. Need to get back to home right now. How you maintaining this kind of lifestyle? Maybe you can make one video about that? Thanks

This is exactly the info i was looking for. Hotel tips, dental tips. As we age dental issues pop up also and the cost in the U.S. will kill you. In any country it is in the dentist's hands not always the diploma from a well known university. For molars best to go with gold and no computer. Also key is a good lab with good technicians. With cad-cam these days a dentist can do things anywhere. I presume things are sanitary where you go. These days how to keep things sanitary is common knowledge and most dentists train in well known centers. Sometimes pain comes up and just goes away. They did right. Food tips are always good. I like the room at the food restaurant . I could live there long term no prob. Do you have a card from the healthcare company i presume? They repay you after you pay with the Visa? Too many questions. That is a very good price for healthcare. Thanks!
I didnt watch you videos while traveling to Bangkok; Now I am back to California, i really love to watch your shows. Two thumbs up for your videos especially those about Thailand.

I will Never get another Root Canal, as my old one became infected (terrible pain) dumb dentist didn't even prescribe Anti-Niotics, she then said $4k to do a new root canal Via a specialist, so went somewhere else and had it removed and a bridge put in, Do your own research on root canals and the Anaerobic bacteria that can exist in dead tissue/teeth.
Ouch! I totally understand Pain and expensive I have gone with the crown only so far I’m praying I don’t need to go root canal Thank you for sharing this experience
Forgive me I stumbled on your channel if my maths is correct your paying 25k to stay at Sutus court ? is this a sort term accommodation or have you been there for a while ? If long term why are you not going the condo route
There are cheaper condos for sure if you extend your visas out With a 30 day visa I stay at two sometimes three hotels in different areas and head to the next country Then return the following year :-) Long term you can save money!
Can anyone suggest a good health insurance that covers SE Asia and also US? Plan to be in SE Asia long term, but needs to comeback to the US about one month per year.
True, no argument from me there haha I had shoulder surgery from government work I was not supposed to even do them but heck yes I’m going to I can do ten straight :-)
The spelling of Phratamnak is very frustrating, there seems to be about 4 different ways! But one thing is for sure, it’s my favourite area to live long term 😊. If your over 50 years old, it’s very easy to get a yearly Non O visa, once your in Thailand on a 30 day entry just visit a reputable visa agent!
I really enjoy your Vlogs and have been a subscriber for a while. I am in a position to retire soon. With investments and lifestyle what do you believe is the benchmark for cash to travel South East Asia. What should you have as a minimum? I understand that is open ended - interested in your view.
I would shoot for 2000 a month income to be ready for south east Asia That will not only cover your monthly expenses but give you a few hundred a month to keep buying more dividend stocks That way you build your retirement in retirement
I don’t live in Thailand I’m using the visitor visa That way I can go to any country any time More flexibility Make sure you set up social security before you live overseas and it should all be online like your banking No wiring money or mail
People who are thinking of living full time in Bangkok should seek the option of those who live (and have been living for years) in Bangkok. You can't live comfortably for less than $1600 per month. Sure it's doable for less but not really sustainable. Most expats who live full time in Bangkok are on $2000 budget (or more ) per month.. Please note that 2k does not offer a high living standard but rather a very decent one.
2000 is a very comfortable life in Southeast Asia in general. Other than Singapore haha Otherwise 2000 a month is a pleasant and wonderful life. I’m proving it for my third year now :-)
I have been living in thailand for over 26+ years. working on my 27th year now. I live on less than 1000 dollars a month all this time. and I assure you I live a good life. eat out daily. all-you-can-eat breakfast buffets for 199 baht. even 179 baht. a better one 219 baht. many around. I even hangout on walking street twice a week. easy on 1000 dollars a month.
That’s interesting! I don’t know I’ll have to look I go to Pattaya international dental center now They are incredible More dental information coming in future videos
Speaking of living in different countries, I see a lot of russia in the news. I heard once that Moscow is better ran cleaner safer city than USA cities lol.
Isn't me, based on observation that part of Thailand is no longer Thailand anymore last year when I was there. It has become more and more like western playground hardly any cultures left.
Thanks for the info. I'dlike to tell you, kindly, that your diet contains way too much sugar. Coke, yogurt & noodles spike your glucose levels greatly. Good luck out there.
Great question! An expat legally gets a visitor visa in the country and an exit requirement An immigrant applies for citizenship That is possible but very hard in Asia
@@RetireandGo There are lots of long-term immigrants with residency permits. I dunno.. I think they're loaded terms. The first time I came across this was an article about British "expats" in Spain.. they'd retired and been living there for years and then Brexit came, suddenly they became subject to rules that applied to non-EU citizens and were complaining vociferously about it. The writer of the article pointed out that expats and immigrants were essentially the same thing, but the term "immigrant" was usually (at least in Europe) applied to people from poorer countries like Syria and Poland living in richer countries like the UK, while those from richer countries moving to poorer ones (even Spain!) were "expats", and the reason the expats in Spain were complaining so much was they had a sense of entitlement that, say, a Polish truck driver in Britain would never feel.
@@RetireandGo I don't think that's true - there are lots of immigrants that live for years on resident visas, even to the extent of having children and raising families. Perhaps you might call these people "expats", but again, what's the difference? Some years ago I came across an article about British "expats" who were living in Spain - they were very upset because the rules had changed due to Brexit, to them that wasn't fair, because they'd been working or had been retired, living in Spain under EU residency laws, and now they had to fill in extra paperwork to remain there. The writer of the article was of the opinion that the term "expat" was just a euphemism, to differentiate people like this from, say, a Polish lorry driver in Britain, or one of the thousands of people from Syria or Africa trying to get into, or already in, the EU. So the term "immigrant" has negative connotations - they're people from poorer countries (even such as Poland) who move to richer countries, while "expats" are those who move from richer countries to poorer ones (such as Spain). As you are probably aware, there are thousands of Burmese immigrants in Thailand - maybe we should call them "expats" too.
Thailand is not the place to retire anymore. Great to visit or live and work there, but not for retirees. Starting 1 Jan 2024 Thailand now taxes the income of retired Expats (including Pensions), if you live in Thailand 180 days or more in a year, while all the other countries in SEAsia do not. Hopefully Thailand will change their mind, but as it is now, starting on Jan 2025 Expats have been told to pay income taxes on the money they brought to Thailand from 1 Jan 2024 onwards. Thailand also wants to implement worldwide taxation, so even if you dont remit the money to Thailand they want to tax it . No matter how good their Visas are or the country is - for retired Expats Thailand is not the best option (we are leaving).
I understand The tax situation is crazy Please look at the new digital nomads visa in Indonesia It’s one year No taxes Just renew it annually I’m looking at it for 2026 and beyond
Taxes in Thailand 35% and you cannot deduct loses from your gains. Make Thailand not a cheap country to retire to. Ontop of that pensions now also taxed as well as savings also taxed when brought into Thailand. Thailand is finished for foreigners wishing to live there.
Thailand hospitals are better run than anything I visited in the US The costs … I mean a tenth of western prices for procedures I would rethink it Thailand healthcare is incredible

Thanks!
Great questions
Check the first link in the description for healthcare answers ok?
I will have to look up cad cam I appreciate this information
I didnt watch you videos while traveling to Bangkok; Now I am back to California, i really love to watch your shows. Two thumbs up for your videos especially those about Thailand.
Thank you and I will
Be in Thailand Malaysia Indonesia and others this year :-)

RUclips is very strict in music choices
I licensed some peaceful guitar tracks , about three or four of them
I will Never get another Root Canal, as my old one became infected (terrible pain) dumb dentist didn't even prescribe Anti-Niotics, she then said $4k to do a new root canal Via a specialist, so went somewhere else and had it removed and a bridge put in, Do your own research on root canals and the Anaerobic bacteria that can exist in dead tissue/teeth.
Ouch! I totally understand
Pain and expensive
I have gone with the crown only so far
I’m praying I don’t need to go root canal
Thank you for sharing this experience
Forgive me I stumbled on your channel if my maths is correct your paying 25k to stay at Sutus court ? is this a sort term accommodation or have you been there for a while ? If long term why are you not going the condo route
There are cheaper condos for sure if you extend your visas out
With a 30 day visa I stay at two sometimes three hotels in different areas and head to the next country
Then return the following year :-)
Long term you can save money!
Can anyone suggest a good health insurance that covers SE Asia and also US? Plan to be in SE Asia long term, but needs to comeback to the US about one month per year.
I googled “top 5” when I was looking for insurance companies
I found many are great! Top reviews!
Have you considered Malasia, I've heard thats way cheeper. I'm not sure how it is culture.
I love Malaysia
I will be making videos from there this year for sure
Great prices for dental
I’m getting crown work done as well, I will show prices in future videos :-)
Nice!!!!

I living in Thailand for 20 years……everything now start expensive in Thailand. I think after 3 years no body can say about Thailand is cheaper
It’s getting pricey for sure
You should ditch the COKE for fresh coconut water...
True
I can’t argue with that
@@RetireandGo In my case no COKE since august last year... No sugar, soft drinks nor processed food since new year... Plenty of fresh greens
00:30 They're not proper pullups. 😆🤣
True, no argument from me there haha
I had shoulder surgery from government work
I was not supposed to even do them but heck yes I’m going to
I can do ten straight :-)
The spelling of Phratamnak is very frustrating, there seems to be about 4 different ways! But one thing is for sure, it’s my favourite area to live long term 😊. If your over 50 years old, it’s very easy to get a yearly Non O visa, once your in Thailand on a 30 day entry just visit a reputable visa agent!
Also Soi boukough haha , I have no idea the actual spelling
There is only one spelling of Phradtamnak พระตำหนัก
Nice!❤
Thank you :-)
All the best to you
What are we looking at my boy single person all in (Accommodation, costs, food, entertainment, health ins ) in baht per month my boy ????
I keep my monthly costs under 2000
Including airfares
Hello, Can I ask you if it's normal dream to move to Pattaya if you have only 1100 USD per month, and have a family also ?)
Pattaya and Thailand in general will be tight on that budget
Philippines more possible
I really enjoy your Vlogs and have been a subscriber for a while. I am in a position to retire soon. With investments and lifestyle what do you believe is the benchmark for cash to travel South East Asia. What should you have as a minimum? I understand that is open ended - interested in your view.
I would shoot for 2000 a month income to be ready for south east Asia
That will not only cover your monthly expenses but give you a few hundred a month to keep buying more dividend stocks
That way you build your retirement in retirement
Will SSA in US accept your Thailand address?
I don’t live in Thailand I’m using the visitor visa
That way I can go to any country any time
More flexibility
Make sure you set up social security before you live overseas and it should all be online like your banking
No wiring money or mail
they do not need to know. keep a US address.
plenty of mail forwarding services on the internet.
full US mailing address.
Other than Singapore haha
Otherwise 2000 a month is a pleasant and wonderful life.

You may enjoy Chiang Mai :-)
Cool jazz club there too

Thanks for the info. I'dlike to tell you, kindly, that your diet contains way too much sugar. Coke, yogurt & noodles spike your glucose levels greatly. Good luck out there.

Well, do 30, then 90 in Malaysia on arrival!! Then back to Thailand for 30
What's the difference between a n expat and an immigrant? 😁
Great question!
An expat legally gets a visitor visa in the country and an exit requirement
An immigrant applies for citizenship
That is possible but very hard in Asia
@@iskandartaib interesting thoughts for sure !
Thailand is no longer cheap, in fact it's more expensive then Sydney
It’s pricey in some ways
I have found rooms for $16 a day and meals for $4 or $5
Pretty good!
I understand
The tax situation is crazy
Please look at the new digital nomads visa in Indonesia
It’s one year
No taxes
Just renew it annually
I’m looking at it for 2026 and beyond

Taxes in Thailand 35% and you cannot deduct loses from your gains. Make Thailand not a cheap country to retire to. Ontop of that pensions now also taxed as well as savings also taxed when brought into Thailand. Thailand is finished for foreigners wishing to live there.
Just go to Kuala Lumpur every six months and enjoy the city then return
