I was one of them saying it's repairable. Now I get your point. Go get that proper frame. Fingers crossed for a smooth bureaucratic process. Assembly will be a blast!
So glad you're doing this series on RUclips. I hate trying to follow long format projects on TikTok. Much better to see here in 20-30 minute chunks or so.
In 1997 I did the same thing with a 1966 SIIa109 with the same level of knowledge you started with - ie worked on stuff but never pulled and engine and I thought the gearbox was witchcraft - until I took it apart and realized how simple it was. The more manuals the better and you have you tube that I didn't have to help you see the tricks - one thought that helped me when ever I got stuck was the fact that this was built on an assembly line and to be taken apart under a tree in Africa!
Finally a full length cinematic video! Greetings and full support from another LR psycho on the other side of the Baltic sea. In our family, we have a D2, a D4 and a Puma. Next step - Series!
Really appreciate the glimpse into an amazing journey. Hoping for nothing but smooth sailing for you going forward in your restoration. Thanks for thinking of us, and taking the time to share.💞
Kasper, you’re filmmaking, aesthetic and personality is fantastic and I really enjoy watching your videos! I only discovered your channel 2 days ago and binge watched all your Land Rover Series videos. I’ve never been a Landy guy. I’m 23 my father has an Audi RS6 and I own an Audi S3 here in the UK however my uncle recently purchased his second series 3 with a V8 engine and I’ve now developed a want for these vehicles and have been researching and watching as many videos on them as I can! I’m thinking one day I’ll purchase one as a project like yourself hopefully 👌🏽
I just found your RUclips after stumbling over one of your videos on TikTok. I love your style of videos. I find them mentally very soothing, relaxing and engaging at the same time.
Yorkshire tea, nice. Not too much milk. Brilliant. However, there's only half a cup! Sad to hear about the 109 going, bit as a freelander owner, a little bit pleased to see how you get on with that.
Damn you 😂 now 1. I’m taking a space as a garage. 2. Get a series 3. Learn/experiment to take it apart and rebuild. Keep up the content 🙏🏽 a proper inspiration.
If you were to create a video shooting, editing and color grading course, I would definitely sign up for that regardless of its price! One can simply watch your content just for their aesthetic. Wishing you all the best from Istanbul, good luck with the restoration!
I love these videos as I am currently restoring a 1960 series 2 and I have had the same problems with rust but I would suggest upgrading the leaf springs to parabolic spring as they will give a smoother and comfier ride but keep up the good work 🎉
I drove my first 88 in 1986-87 my staff sergeant assumed I had a driving licence and I drove 100 miles on a round trip, after it he asked for a copy of my licence and was not best pleased to discover I couldn't drive,,, his mistake not mine 😂😂😂 I have loved the simplicity of them ever since
I've been following the restoration project and really it has been very interesting and loads of learning about the LR series. Bulkhead and chassis are already the main issues with those cars and you'd definitely replace them with new galvanised ones so you know you'll have a car for another 50 years. Oh lord! I'd never buy a Freelander! They're one of the worst cars ever made by LR. I have a fiat panda 4x4 and it is amazing on snow and if you just need a little car for shop runs that's the one I'd recommend.
And that reputation is why I can get one soo cheap that it doesn’t matter if it goes to the scrap yard 😂🤝 we had one when I grew up, so there’s some dumb nostalgia there as well haha
dang that looks cold. i thought we’ve had a cold January here in England but you win. Project looks like its really coming along! As always, keep it up dude. great vid (and ive enjoyed the shorts too)
Oh no, can't believe you're selling the Shrek, i thought you'd bring it to states and sell it to me :-) great vid again, great style, i love it. Sorry the frame is so fncked. I have '83 Ford Econoline van and discovering previous owners repairs is always fun... currently loving the rust popping up under that recent coat of paintthe last owner did. cheers from frozen Wisconsin, been as cold here now as by you. So cold my 5yo daughter lasts only 15 minutes sledding :) all the best!
Loving the video by far the best creator on car restoration and appreciation on the old landys. The film styles makes each episode feel like a mini movie. Also would love to know where you got the standing speakers from ?
If i were building the 88 series i would put a couch on one side in the back and a kitchen on the otherside so i could chill and cook in the back and sleep in the roof tent.
Roof tent for full time travel in norway is not plesant. Had a roof tent on my discovery but there’s just too much weather here. So a convertible bed inside is key 🤝
Okay so that's what you're going to do! Cool i was thinking about it because the back is too short to sleep in. So it would be like the ones you can see on the td5 defender campers? Love the series and the aesthetic./From sweden.@@kasperhoglund
Great part 1 Kasper, going to be an interesting restoration. How long do you anticipate it will take to get all the paperwork for the chassis and have you found a replacement yet
the green just strikes me as a more solid car and i dont get why you would rather invest in the crappier one but i dont know cars so im probably missing something
Wow, great video Kasper! I’m sorry but I hope you will make a lot (narrated) of videos about this project. Do you watch Jethro Bronner too? I you’ll like that type of videos as well.
Always wondered how dating worked out with your lifestyle lol. You live like a monk. I suppose your life is just this. Thats cool. Inspiring me to live a more simple life. I am 34 so I feel getting closer to 40 is the reason I feel the way I do but have decided to focus on school and building a brand. Just got my passport. Heading overseas to a place where it will be very Sharia law so the women and night life wont be as available like here in the states. Absolute focus and time for learning.
How do you find getting parts for these trucks in Norway? i count myself lucky as a Defender 110 owner that there are so many part sellers over here. Lots on marketplace and 2nd hand on ebay as well
@@kasperhoglund Yes, I can see that might be a problem. I love the format though as I have suitable screen for it. Actually I found your channel while searching for 21:9 content and have been following you since. :)
Makes it impossible to get the frame swap legally done because it’s not as original. Then I need to register is as a modified one with even more paper work and bills 😅🤝 all too complicated here
Kasper, can you get a new frame (good used or new) then just cut the section with the numbers off and weld that to the new one, then you would have a technically “repaired” frame🧐
@@kasperhoglund was a dumb thing to say but would a complete front to back rail be allowed on the worst side or would they not allow that either, and here am I thinking Australia had some draconian restrictions
@@makara51 if repaired, it’s not allowed to alter it in any way. And both the metal and the welder needs to be certified and correct for the frame at hand
Your style of creating videos is easily my favorite. Glad you make longer videos next to your IG stories. Really appreciate all the effort.
Thanks for that 🤝🤝
Watching this makes me want to pull apart a Land Rover.
Good thing your videos will help me put it back together 🙏😂
Two great minds together
This is why RUclips platform was created for... Thanks for Your storytelling
Appreciate that 🤝

love the restoration project ❤

I have the exact same wood stove in my kitchen. Sadly no Land Rover in my garage, but luckily I can enjoy watching you build yours.
The fire will keep you warm! The old Land Rover will not 😂🤝

I think the frame swap is doable in Norway too, may need some ”paper mill”, but should be quite straightforward progress. Go for it. Good luck.
It’s been done, just depends on what kind of mood the guy at the traffic station has that day. But will be a “brand new car” 🤝
Brilliant video, I'm in a very similar situation with my Landy and it's nice to see someone in a similar situation with new experiences as well
Keep it up, I have a 73 series 3 88 in the garage coming along with yours
Just a tad older then! Mine turns 50 in March 😎🤝
Great video to look at

That flapping rating tag on the spare wheel strap of the green '109' isn't distracting at all!!
Haven’t given it a thought, since it’s hidden down below the wiper from where I sit 😂🤌
