I may or may not have noticed my rear leaf plates being the wrong way around whilst editing this. The parabolic leafs was too high for me to even think about connecting the bottom end before now, so I’ll excuse myself 😂
What an effort, but if possible it's so good to take it slow and steady for the best results, especially when learning from new. Can't wait for more videos and your adventures!🎉
I watch this series restoration like once every few days. So relaxing and impressive! I also bought a 2012 Lr4 because of you and am now eyeing off a series 2a 88”
Exceptional restoration and attention to detail. I hope you have many years of enjoyment in the future with your stunning pride and joy. Congratulations to you sir.
I've been watching since your first series video. That kickstarted an obsession which has finally culminated in me buying a 1983 Series 3 Stage One that was fitted for radio, ex New Zealand army four weeks ago. About 10 years ago it had the 1PZ diesel engine, gearbox and axles swapped in from a 70 series Land Cruiser, as the original Rover V8 bent a few connecting rods. Thank you for introducing a new passion to me. I just got back from a 3 day trip into Northland to pick up a full length LWB top for it and this was the first video on my list to watch.
At this rate, it is a thoroughly brand new car now. Even with dents and imperfections I can't believe you will put this rolling artwork restoration piece - and you're talking about the next 50 years for keeps - on an actual dirt road before the 50 years expire. It's like taking your holiday china on random picnics jostled around in a shopping bag. Too nice and so special to be a daily.
Built to be used, back in 74’. So keeping the spirit alive and keeping it rolling for traveling. It’s like nice china, but can be fixed over and over. Never actually shattered 😎🤝
@@kasperhoglund There's good, as juxtaposed to good-enough for a rolling around adventurous rust bucket. You made it spectacular. That's entirely a different class of its own. It belongs into a Norwegian branch of the Petersen exposition.
beautiful job mate. you’ve just breathe a new life into something what was at the end of the journey. Hopefully now we will have more of your journey ahead :)
This has been an unbelievable series. I remeber showing my parents the first few videos so many months ago because I love old land rovers, and seeing the progress has been amazing!! Great stuff Kasper👍
i have watched your videos from the day of the discovery you had and really enjoyed those videos, but the rebuild you have done on this landrover and filmed it is first class, congratulations and can't wait to see you having the enjoyment of driving it and adventures ahead !!!!
Thanks Graham! Can’t wait to go back to traveling, and not just building. But all the time spent on this will be worth it on that first trip. Lots of more films coming when I’m not doing the same thing every other day as of now!😅
Dear Kasper, thank you so so much for sharing your passion for Land Rovers with us. It really keeps me going with my own project. Unfortunately I am far too clumsy to do the things you are doing and have to rely on external and expensive help. But at least I know now what I want the result to look like. Please keep it up and take us along your journey🙏👏❤️
Thank you for the kind words! We’ll both be left with a nice landy no matter how the process was done! Very much looking forward to finishing this one🤝
Absolutely great job Kasper, well done! You can be very proud of yourself! Looking forward to hit the road again! Hopefully seeing this Land Rover for atleast another 50 years on the road!
I cant believe how this series, and your channel have been such a big part of my life over the past 2 years. The time has gone by so quickly! I went back to see the age of some of your videos and I couldn’t believe the sale of your previous LR was over a year ago. Its been a really fun ride so far, and I will be here until the end!!! ✊
Great Update. You have dived in completely to precision assembly. Its quite the immersing thing. I spent 20 years in the trade. been a HotRodder my whole life. Youdone good Kasper, measure, hold tolerences, prepare an assembly process. lay out the area, keep things Clean , clean. Colder temps yield Accurate measurements. Metals grow above about 90F. I had lots of assemblies that were in Tenths .0001 , it become a feel. you learn how the measurement Feels👍👍. Be blessed , it will be a dream to drive. 🙏🙏🙏🔧🛠️🔧🏁🏁🏁
Thanks mate! Luckily the british has made this eith VERY high tolerances for “in spec” 😂 After all, it drove perfectly fine here with plenty of play in every single part. But a new and fresh breath of air for this car was needed!
I can't believe what a work you done. With all that rot all over the car including chassis you basically built a new car from scratch, and all the parts looks pristine now. This is some car porn level. I don't know how a one man with little to none experience with such a rebuild is able to do this kind of work in small garage by himself. Really like your videos. I was afraid you switched to shorts only, so I was excited when this 25 minutes clip dropped. Thank you for this content and wish you good luck. Want to see the car ready and loaded with gear at the end.
I'm really interested to see what you do about the interior. I remember you having a full bed, cooking table, solar panels and stuff in your old discovery. But that was a bigger car than this one. That's what makes me wonder what your plans are for the interior. I'm sure you have plans or you'll figure it out. This is turning out to be a beautiful project.
Actually! The discovery was smaller inside because it was registered as a van with a fixed wall separating the front and the rear. Will have a convertible bed setup in this, for the obvious reason considering the length of the car. But it will be and feel more spacious at the same time in other ways. Keeping it very simple and lightweight because it’s not as powerful and is trying to not bring unnecessary stuff in this build. Way too many people bring too much stuff for traveling just because they can 👍
Congratulations man you worked damn hard and the result it really speaking by itself! Amazing job and proof that a determined mind can achieve a great result in a lot of different stuff! Just beautifull
Looks awesome! Though, make sure the oil and water galleries are cleaned out. It's almost certain that some metal from machining got in there and it’d be a massive shame to grenade the engine due to a lack of cleaning. Unless the machine shop did that, but I wouldn’t necessarily trust them 100% (the tiniest fleck getting to any of the bearings could be catastrophic)
Thanks! I “could’ve” rushed and gone now, but winter is right around the corner. And I need to rig out the inside a bit, fix solar, heating and other bits. So I’m aiming at departing early spring or late late winter. Will have some pull out storage out the back, a foldable bed towards the front. But otherwise keep it very simple and lightweight for the sake of simplicity. And it having 70 horses and being 3,6m long 😂
Thank you for this great series of videos on your journey with the Land Rover. May I ask if you made any gearing improvements/modifications to the gearbox/transfer-box..? I have an original 1983 SIII 2¼ Petrol with only 29K miles and would like to explore the possibility of improving the high range gearing to give slightly taller ratio's....
Thanks! The gearbox had signs of being rebuilt at one point when it was in the UK. So internally it was in perfect shape. So I’ve replaced all bearings, springs and bushes. I also have an overdrive in this, so highway cruising is a bit better than just the plain LT76 box without any extra. Higher ratio is “constant”. But having the ability to throw in the overdrive gear is very satisfying. But, even more parts to look after ofc.
@kasperhoglund would you be willing to share some images of your whiteboard and check list? Maybe a video explaining how you stayed on track or pivoted when something got delayed? Would be appreciated and helpful!
@@elgrimio spray gun, 412l/min Compressor, regulator and water filter. And just painted in a closed off section of the garage. What a craftsmanship, thank you for taking us on this journey too! Looking forward seeing this in its comfort zone soon.

I really enjoyed the full length of the video, even if I have nothing to do with cars. Beautiful.
