- I've been really excited about the new line, and so far, they're fitting the bill of my expectations on scout cruisers. By popular demand, we're starting at tier 10, to see if it's worth it, and we'll be looking at more ships in the coming weeks.

Although frankly speaking, I guessed that you would compare her torpedo capability to a Zao instead of a Shimakaze. 😁 That said, I fully understand why you chose the Shimakaze and not the Zao to be compared with the Jinan 😁. Size and mobility wise, Shimakaze is logically closer.
Im comfortable with most light cruisers and destroyers, those are the 2 most prevalent ship types in my entire collection.
I will start this line as soon as the entire line is available for free. I have no need for any tech tree ship gamble boxes, as always.

See thumbnail... It's somewhat balanced by the extreme squishiness, but BB players are in for a treat. Can you imagine being ambushed by one of those, taking 15 into the side, only for it to smoke, turn and send another 10 your way?

2:07 The ship name doesn’t necessary have to come from alt history though. Historically a lot of the post-war ROC navy destroyers are named after mainland Chinese cities, like Hsienyang, Lo Yang, and Yueyang as we have in the game. (Re)naming ships after mainland cities only kind of stopped decades later after there was no longer any kind of interest in retaking the mainland from the Taiwan side

I Love My Jinan but it’s squishy, and I HATE Deep Water Torps.. But it’s a great ship and I’ve gotten plenty of 100K damage games in it..👍
And boy are U right about Bot Des Moines being the most dangerous Des Moines in the game, I’ve seen a bot Des Moines turn on its axis and I’ve even seen a couple run through a island…🤦🏻♂️😂
Ok now I get what I did wrong playing the Tier V PA cruiser. I would use the torpedoes, but your torpedo range on that thing is very much on par with your range, maybe you have a 50 meter or so gap before your spotted. Even then, I am enjoying this line, and seems it is worth going all the way for Jinan. I did kind of already know they were squishy from PC (they get dev struck a lot). All in all, yea I'm grinding this line.
Hey Terry, I've found myself in a bit of a predicament. I have around 6,000 battles on my main account and have grinded 5 full trees, BUT I'm on Asia server and don't really enjoy the high tier gameplay on there. Should I make a second account and grind up to tier X or just keep playing on the server I'm on now?

You got to alter your speed like time the BB reload and slam the brakes before they fire. I annoy the crap out the entire enemy team with De Grasse and managed to hold the flank while help arrives with this trick.
This would have been a CLAA had it continued the construction process. Anti Aircraft Light Cruiser. I’m really looking forward to this line. Probably the most excited for a line I’ve been since the German CC’s or Dutch cruisers.

I haven’t killed a Jinan yet, but I did delete a Sejong in about 2-3 salvos from Des Moines… at range. Jinans 6th turret doesn’t register hits.
Yeah, because 6th one is supposed to be AA, as it is on PC, but B team can't code properly.
Wonder if they’ll delete it or add it in. Or just leave it as is forever? I guess we can throw some darts at a board

I don't care the mins and extremes of a ship line, as long as they have epic AA, I'll grind the line. I really hate those sky cancers. My playstyle will dramatically adjust to the line I'm grinding anyway, bonus if it's a cruiser (tho I think this line will be more suitable for selfish players who only cares for racking dmg and not objective skirmish).
I got a question tho. When will it be released officially as a tech tree line, what's the time gap between it and the event? Since I'm a casual, unfortunately, I don't have much time to collect victories for the event.
Yes, they're not direct-objective ships, they're damage dealers, and have to rely on their team to capitalise on that. AA is pretty good - Halland level, not Worcester - and so far, I find playing them as part-time destroyers, like a more extreme Mino, is the best approach.
As for the release date, no idea. I think in the past, things tend to come out around a month after the early access event has ended, but can't say for sure. I've got the tier 5 from the event, and that's probably as much as I'm going to get 😁 Will just grind things the normal way.
@@FunandGameswithTerry Yeah I'm glad that we can get the tier 5 easily, I can stack exp to research the tier 6 in the future (I'll just use the token for steel and titanium resources). It's just a bummer that we can't use the detection reduction mod in such an early tier.

and yes i think people learn and then it get nerfed and a few months after realese noone is gonna play these anymore. just take a look at italian bbs. still good, for sure, but way less common and less people get slapped by that sap

The line is not yet released, but when it comes out, it'll be a regular tech tree branch in the Pan-Asian tree.
Terry, the tier V is available for 1000 tokens, which is one win, and shouldn't take you too many battles to get it, lol.
Wargaming said it themselves in the introduction video for PC version: “this is a damage dealer”.

I know! There's a whole bunch of premium German DDs that I missed. I'm looking at doing another Z52 video, and then I'll work my way through those and more of the PA scout cruisers.

I've run APCS on Colbert it makes knocking out DDs worse due to overpens. Regular AP is perfect, IFHE, however, makes for knocking out DDs and lighting them on fire 🔥 easier.
Interesting boat. I have Atlanta which is a similar play style. Once everybody learns about these it may become like Shimakaze. Everybody knows to dodge torps.

Im extremely afraid, I wrote it under a message before. But a ship that's nearly like the op Smolensk (I mean obviously a bit worse in terms of gun damage, because a bitt less damage and overall not same amount of fires per minute) but has more and very decent torpedos as a shimakaze, is kinda nasty. It will be squishy, easy to kill for bbs and especially Italians, also big gun cruisers will hammer the crap out of it and this ship got only fuel smokes, so no hide and seek.
But a skilled player will spit out an enormous amount of damage and now these kind of ships will be more common because free and they are good for egoistic players. Capturing is not a thing for these ships.
Hopefully this won't change the meta and wargaming will not try to release more and more ships, that are perfect for these Playstyle.
I've been thinking about that actually lately. With more and more ships coming out that have specific counters, teamplay and proper tactical positioning becomes more important. You used to be able to just run out and do whatever in most ships, rush caps, yolo as you went, but that's increasingly not the case anymore.
And I feel it's starting to reflect, there are things I used to do in a Des Moines or Mino in random that I just don't get away with anymore. Higher tier randoms start feeling like skirmishes used to.
Of course not always, you still get derpfests, but I noticed that I need to get into the "mindset" for the ship I play, because I switch a lot, or be punished. All in all, feels like a good thing.
So if I understand it correctly, than the better playerbase and counters like Italians for ships like these, will call it shimalensk for now, are maybe a way to bring up specific ships like this without making them too op?
I mean it's a pure damage/punishment ship, you can't capture points, you can't fight a bunch of destroyers or even strong cruisers with fast reload. You won't hold flanks unless you torp the entire flank and everything with slightly bigger guns will sink you instantly.
I had the feel this would introduce player to be more egoistic, just farm much damage while you loose on points, but your explanation, If I understand it correctly, will eventually work against this Playstyle. Hard counter ships will be picked specifically for deleting these kind of ships. A hindenburg or Demoines will be part of the team just for hunting down these squishy attackers. And other ships like Italians seem to be the chosen ones as wargaming had thought about this problem before.

Oh and great video, introduction was hilarious. I would also like to see a full max to see what damage numbers are possible in perfect rounds. Will still grind to my Hindi first, I have the feeling, these kind of cruisers will be more and more important 😅😅 and I actually love the German cruiser Playstyle. You can take a bit damage, ap is monstrous but you still a really manoeuvrable cruiser.
Yes, that's pretty much the idea. Like you said, they do promote a certain "Smolensk-ish" style, but they'll have a hard time compensating for the team, or do any of the assault cruiser / support cruiser roles. The meta changes, but as long as there are available counters, and players who don't care about getting the largest damage numbers, but play for the win, this might balance out. BBs will play more defensive than they already are, and wait for opportunities. Screening your BBs becomes an important factor. Sonar / radar are useful tools. A Hindenburg, or even a Worcester, can take these ships apart easily. Controlling positions, spotting to remove the island cover, all that becomes more important.
These things punish bad tactical play. This can either lead to just toxic battles, or to better tactical play, and I'm hoping for the latter, especially in T9 & 10. I'll have to see what the lower tiers can do.

In a long range gun fight with a dd the jinan is inferior to almost every dd on it's tier.

This can completely ruin T10 games once good players figure out to act like a Shima until the battle is halfway over and after that finish off what's left with the machine guns, that torp spam is just ridiculous
I'm curious to see how this is going to change things, but unless you're playing in divisions of those (and that's toxic for a few ships, I've been at the receiving end of a triple CC or triple DzP divison a couple of times), they aren't that hard to counter.
What they do punish is tactical misplays and poor positioning, but then again, so does something like Shima already today. Leave a flank unprotected, get punished for it. Heavy cruisers not playing their role, get punished for it. The biggest enemy of this thing is being spotted, they have barely more HP than a DD, and get citadeled to oblivion.
