Lotus or Chinese Geely? China are slowly hollowing out western companies and jobs. They cannot get traction with their own brands so they use western brands against us. This hollowing out will eventually empty out every single sector as they move all industries in house to China. Lotus knowledge will sucked out and moved to China. The staff in the UK will be used and tossed aside. By buying a Chinese car, unlike any other purchase, you are directly supporting a Chinese Communist Party owned company. All car companies in China are directly or indirectly owned by the CCP. You are supporting CCP design, technology, and engineering. China are a self proclaimed enemy of western democracy and free people, that may sound like hyperbole but it is manifestly true. They are a communist/totalitarian regime. Partnership is not a part of their thinking process. It is the cover they use to slowly dismember western economies. They do not want partnership they want control and ownership. This is and will increasingly bleed in to political control and eventually erosion of western freedoms. China simply cannot allow freedom of thought or speech, it is not only antithetical but an existential threat to their regime. They cannot afford to limit the restrictions on freedom in their own country as this is would be a constant pressure on their regime. So they need to extinguish freedom in as many places as possible. It is and innate need for all empires/civilisations to spread their model.
We are walking ourselves in to totalitarian control. If you think it seems too far fetched then you need to think deeper and harder. If you think this process will be benign, you are wrong. China will slowly tighten their grip on democracy, it is already starting to happen, they constantly require other nations to limit their speech. On the current course, in the not too distant future, your government will be controlled by China, directly or indirectly, you will not be allowed to change your government, and your government will impose every single decision handed down by China. You will not be able to protest or question these decisions. You and your children will grow up without any freedom for the rest of your/their lives.
As one example China forcibly sterilised and aborted their own women in the 80's, dragged them in to horrific surgeries, now the Uyghurs are being subjected to the same treatment. Fully charged directly support Chinese Communist Party controlled car companies. Even after they have seen China stripping democratic freedom from Hong Kong, or 1 million Uyghurs forced in to concentration camps, or China's support of North Korea's starvation of its population. Fully charged condone the Chinese regime. They think their agenda trumps that of freedom. Freedom (whilst imperfect) is the most important value we can hold, the alternative is a life of servitude. To have contempt for personal freedom as Fully Charged do is the highest form of immorality. All of the staff are accountable and deeply immoral people.

Fantastic, passionate review Harry. I’ve been a quiet fan of the channel for about a year now and feel compelled to jot down my thoughts on the latest Lotus.
Am I the only person who thinks what Lotus has achieved with the Emira represents everything that’s wrong with the direction of McLaren, Ferrari and Lamborghini in their constant pursuit of ever more horsepower coupled with the lack of a manual gearbox…?

This review is why I love Harry's channel. Such a thorough description of the car. I'm head over heals for an Emira, going back to the reveal last July. So much so, I plan on going to my local dealer group that just acquired the brand (when they open next year) and putting a deposit down for one. But mine won't be for a while as I want a car once Lotus opens up bespoke color choices. Make mine Gulf Blue/Sky Blue with orange rockers/mirror caps, V6, Manual, Touring setup. A "Gulf livery" version if you will. It will be a long wait for extended colors (2024/2025), but well worth it. 🙏🙏

I always thought the Evora was a leap forward back in 2009, and the early editions had everything: bespoke interior, comfort, practicality, and Lotus handling.
But the Emira has all that and is a properly up-to-date for 2022, with the best of the older cars: analog feelings and driving experience. Great review, and a great car.

However, I find a lot of tech in recent cars infuriating to use and largely useless. All I want is the ability to connect my phone and use CarPlay and that’s about it. I’m sick to death of having to go onto a screen and then dig five menus deep just to turn something on or off. It’s dangerous and thoroughly unfriendly.
CarPlay and physical buttons are what you want and it looks like Lotus has hit the nail on the head. I know where my next bonus is going.
