As I walk to FedEx to send back my Galaxy Fold review sample, one thought in my mind overrides every other: "how do I get one back in my hands?" Because even though it costs nearly $2000, and it's big and heavy and you need to treat it with kid gloves … the Galaxy Fold really does help those of us who do a lot of computing on the go, and don’t always want to carry a laptop.

    Thank you Mr. Mobile

    • @waynosfotos
      @waynosfotos 4 года назад

I have to disagree, why is it not perfect?
Phones years ago where a lot smaller, yet we now complain about a smaller front screen??? When a huge screen is a fold away!!! Yes some apps don’t fit the format, but this is a app thing, not a phone thing. apps for some strange reason keep using different form factors so is any phone perfect for all apps? Look at IG, why a square, it is a real dumb format, then they do stories, with a different form factor? So something has to be under par.
I have the phone, it is great! Yes insta stories chop the top and bottom, would be nice if you could just pinch it in, like a tablet (which it really is).
I do feel Sumsung have done a great job with this fone for a first release, it is premium, built very well, has top specs, and just a joy to use.
As for the crease, I know you see it on these vids but in reall life it is very hard to see, you need to tilt the phone to see it, watching content you can’t see it.
The main downside is really the price, but buy a top apple with the new Ipods and you are not that far away, with just a normal phone.

my opinion on the fold after having owned it
you cannot see the crease you can however feel the crease
it is extremely fragile i would not recommend it for that reason like one mistake and the screen is gone you have nails if you touch those on the screen in a bad way that screen is gone and i can't recommend that type of thing playing games you are always careful not to touch a nail on the screen you focus on it all the time
the notch is impossible not to swipe over to get to the notificationpanel the notch is the biggest problem i have with this phone the outer screen could have been used for the normal camera so you could use the normal as a selfiecamera
the screen is way too warm like most galaxy devices seem to be thats a personal opinion
i wish it had a symmetrical design the corners did not need that curve the other side could have that big metal bar as well that metal bar is just amazing to touch and hold i love it
yeah the batterylife is incredible so much that i have gotten careless on charging because it lasts well through 2 days on EXTREME usage like 2 hours of gaming and screen on max brightness
all in all great attempt and you start to love it but it's better to wait for bendable glass it's an amazing thing but paying 2400 for what is essentially a prototype is stupid even if you're rich unless you desperately need the big screen for work, on the other hand the quirkyness gives it character it's not just a boring phone it is unique and that makes it feel different makes me think back to the old htc advantage

I can honestly say that when viewing text or video on the inside screen the crease is not visible.
I bought the clear case by Spigen; bulky yes but the raised surfaces on sides, corners, and camera lenses provide great protection.

I had it 2 days. The jelly effect on the screen gave me a headache.
Otherwise i loved it but it needs to be more durable and thinner when closed.

The day it has full S Pen support is the day I'm on board! Even half assed support for just the outer display would be nice! Especially since future Folds have "full sized" outer displays.

Nice job on this review. You focused on the “feeling” and experience vs specs and “facts”. That’s a harder story to tell and you did a great job. 👍

I love my iPad mini...it’s the perfect travel reading size. At bars, airports, road trips, etc. The problem with it is the actual “travel” part. I always wished I could fold it up and put it in my pocket instead of needing to shove it in a backpack. Now I can do that😀. The front screen is awesome for quick interactions...Caribou coffee rewards scanning, quick check for next upcoming meeting, podcast controller. The beauty is you can set your outer home screen different from your main home screen, showing they put a lot of effort into the software interface, not just the hardware design. Best Buy’s has these on display at certain stores. Swing by, worth the visit.

I agree. I do believe the Galaxy Fold is the future of smartphones. Being one of those people who uses their phone for both entertainment and productivity (I’m using an iPhone Xs Max by the way), the Galaxy Fold is very appealing for people like me thanks to the big 7 inch screen that can fit in your pocket. It’s a phone when you just need to make a call, a tablet for work and everything else. However, the very expensive price tag, the fragility of the device (no IP rating, the plastic screen, etc) and the app optimization for such a device are still big issues that need to be resolved. I love the Fold, it’s a very practical and exciting device, however as of right now, it’s more of a proof of concept than anything. But, at the very least, we know it can work and that people are excited for such a device.
