How Many Ways Can You Fold A Phone? [Into The Fold Episode 1]
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 июл 2024
- Foldable screens are the biggest revolution in mobile tech in over a decade. In just one year, the foldable phone has gone from far-fetched sci-fi movie prop to reality, with four models available now and more coming soon. I’ve been following the foldable-screen revolution ever since picking up that first ill-fated Galaxy Fold from Samsung in April 2019, and every model since - the Huawei Mate X/Xs, Motorola Razr, Galaxy Z Flip, and even the LG Dual Screen “faux-ldable,” has advanced the story of the foldable phone. With a Lenovo folding-screen laptop on the horizon and still more variations on the foldable theme coming from Microsoft with its Surface Duo and Neo, the days of the boring old rectangular slab appear to be numbered. And I couldn’t be happier.

Something cool I've definitely seen done with the LG V60 is someone running a DS emulator in Dual Screen
With huge bezel
@@perfect2707 Just like it was meant to be
@@brandon_nope i dont know if you like it really or like it price
@@perfect2707 what of he actually likes it? Hell I prefer it.
@@perfect2707 I'm not sure you get it, the ds have big bezel. So the lg is the perfect ds emulator machine.
Strangely, I think the LG is the most practical one.
The Fact I can just leave the case behind when not required is excellent.
Yeah but it can basically only be used for multitasking because one big thing is just so ugly.
@@colinmitchell1276 I think the only other use besides multitasking is video calling....so, I would rather have a more durable phone than one that is fragile but with no gap
OPTIONS are good for consumers.
Both Galaxy Fold and LG dual-screen phones have a place in the market.
The LG Velvet is the thinnest and lightest dual-screen phone from LG so far.
The LG is only one I would even consider. I have 3 monitors on my home computer so I don't understand the complaint about the separation. Those types of complaints only seem to come from those who don't use multiple screens for anything ever. So the complaint comes from inexperienced people just imagining what problems could be. Not what things are problems.
7:17 Mr Mobile in the 70's. That moustache tho.

I forgot Mr. Mobile used to star in adult videos before this gig. I think his catchphrase then was... "hey you... wanna know what's in my pocket now?" 😁
you mean 90s/80s
@@neomamuro link?
I chose the LG V60, I think the word for this phone is Versatility, dual screen when you want and without the case it’s a straightforward powerhouse smartphone. Pen support, quad day, headphone jack, crazy battery life and features no other smartphone has. Truly a class by itself. Great video.
Yeah, no.
- It looks practically the same as a *$90 Xiaomi Redmi 8.* That's a massive insult in the era of truly borderless, notchless displays (with motorized cameras) especially with its price.
- LG still hasn't improved its software update situation. Their older G's and V's are still languishing on Android 9 when their Samsung brethren are thriving on Android 10.
- You still need to pay smartphone-like prices to truly use its headphone jack and DAC (think Audio-Technica M50X and Sony 1000XM3).
Thomas Knipe
I agree. The phone is possibly the most versatile phone in every way, from the camera to the audio to the two screens
@@odeiraoloap
Bezels are an easy fix to the notch problem, the bezel provides all the room for everything, front facing speakers, camera, everything. It's also far more durable than curved displays (assuming they're using flat panels..) And, because it doesn't have a motorized camera, it can also be water resistant.
- I know this opinion may be blasphemous, but, just because a device does not receive the latest version of Android, that doesn't mean it's somehow unusable, or obsolete. All the new version of Android will do is fix the problems of the last version, all while creating new ones.
- smart phones now cost 1k, the WH's you mentioned are 350 ish, and those, are Bluetooth... you can get plenty of wonderful earbuds (like the tin T series) for as low as 40 bucks, and they can take advantage of the DAC no problem...
@@odeiraoloap You don't have to spend a lot to enjoy those DAC, you can even force the phone to trigger hifi mode with a simple tricks.
@@odeiraoloap yeah idiot. You're always on the offensive when it comes to LG videos
I don't know why, but I love the disclosures and sign-off at the end of this video, with the accompanying music. It just works so well!!!!
I like how the LG is convertible, and the user can switched back and forth from single screen to dual screen. Its also considerably cheaper too.
To me it's still not a true foldable
Much cheaper is the key here. The true foldables will not take off until they can enter a much lower price category.
@@thehobbsguy true but they shouldn't even be considered a foldable at all they are just two phones in a bendable case.
And it's way more durable, that is big for me. I actually really like the V60 design, I could put up with the gap. It's like people said about the notch: they got used to it over time and don't see it anymore.

Amazing series Michael :)
Ur personality is awsome man. We can hear onli for u and ur excellent review
Your content is just refreshing. All the other channels are just news outlets really.
The faux-dable is probably the best implementation so far. My LG V60 has active stylus pen which I've used to draw my own wallpaper, headphone jack, and doesn't come with fragile handling warnings. Sure the Fold and Mate X are a lot sexier and cool but they also cost a heck of a lot more as well. But I love this conversation. Also battery life on the V60 is amazing.
Yeah, the problem I have with true foldables is that pen support is non-existent for now. Which is a waste for phones that can be a tablet form factor, that bigger screen begs for pen input for not taking and digital art.
The issue with faux-dable as well is that you can only take advantage half the full real-estate for pen input. So it's like having 2 Galaxy Note taped together, not an 7-8 inch tablet.
@@kornkernel2232 the V60 supports pen on both displays though. It's really dope. But yeah with the huge hinge in the middle I get what you're saying.
@@sidersproductions941 Yeah, V60 is pretty dope considering it supports pen input for both displays. Though clunky, the casing allows the 2nd screen to be optional so you can remove it and use it like a normal smartphone with alot thinner profile. Yet you still have things like great camera which I'm afraid if Surface Duo will achieve that considering how thing that device is.
This makes me want to get V60 as a stop gap while waiting Surface Duo to mature or for foldable display allows pen input and become durable (waiting for bendable glass from Corning).
@@kornkernel2232 I really wanted the Duo but lack of information regarding specs and features have lead me to pass on it. Also the price is another thing as it probably won't be cheap. That makes the V60 the best option for an all in one device for me and it still has the best music quality coming from a phone via QuadDAC which doesn't negate Bluetooth connectivity.
Does the stylus pen get stored INSIDE the housing of the V60 itself???
If the answer is no, that sounds like asking to lose it somewhere.

Hey man, excellent content as always. Are you thinking about doing a vid about your home screen setup? Because it looks epic
I've owned two smart phones since 2012, both windows. It's time for a replacement and finally time to go android and found your video. You are truly a master speaker, writer, and presenter. Everything from your classy-eccentric branding, purposed speech pattern, and word choices all demonstrate true talent and hard work, as opposed to wannabe's who are too serious/boring, or try too hard to be silly and liked. You're a mastered balance of all aspects in this video. This was a very easy like and subscribe for me. If you continue to challenge yourself over the next 10 years with better content, you will become legendary. Well done.

"You can do the same exact thing on a folding screen." Yes but - as you just mentioned, the LG approach is more durable for now. Not to mention less expensive
And also you have the option of not having a dual screen , slap the cover when u need it , remove it when u dont
@@etekweb This is false. No matter what LG's reputation might were, having rivals with True and premium folding smartphones, they would have had a bad approach.
I don't think that the true foldable are a mature enough technology. I think you'd be sacrificing a lot locking yourself into that paradigm especially at the price Samsung is asking. And you constantly run the risk of it just breaking through light use. Plus, Gorilla Glass doesn't fold. Screen protectors don't fold. That screen is way too fragile especially for me who basically replaces screen protectors monthly to keep the screen absolutely pristine.
For anyone who didn't see this comment before I edited it, I misspelled gorilla and it autocorrected to tortilla. I want to know what tortilla glass is now.
I think I will Wait for Rolling Up Screen Technology!!! 😍😍😍
1:14 Heh?? HEeh?? Get it!?!?! I did. hahahah Loved this one @MrMoble. Keep em' coming.
I just pre-ordered the Z Flip3 5G a couple of days ago, and my inner 00's teenager is SO. EFFING. EXCITED. 😄😄😄
I am not the one to criticise your work, which is awesome, but "JerryRigEverything" said that "if you can't afford an expensive repair, don't buy an expensive phone". Out of the devices you just presented, the V60 although it may be the least fold-able of the lot, it's the most cheapest of them all ~700€ and has all the IP6X you want and also is military graded (only LG and CAT have this standard). All the other devices are...pieces of art but for some those cost a month wage or even more. I love them all, don't get me wrong, but is it worth having a device which can cause you a heart attack if dust settles on it?
Straight up.
It also is the only one to support active pen input
The Phone to Tablet idea surely is intriguing but the most practical solution is the flip phone one for sure. I hope that technology evolution will finally give us a true bendable glass screen 🤩
Excelente trabajo!
quick comment about the V60, it at this moment only cost 700 bucks with the dual screen case. I believe it is easily the most underrated flagship of 2020. please check out this phone more because it has some AMAZING features like Lg's undeniably great Quad DAC headphone jack and a 3d sound engine. plus some of the loudest speakers on a smartphone with no loss of clarity. all day battery with or without the dual screen case and lots of people love the camera on it too. i really think it deserves more of a shoutout than MrMobile gave it. I certainly wouldn't categorize it as a folding phone by any means but more of a unique party trick. its a budget flagship that with the recent update to Android 11 will NOT let you down.

Foldables are exciting!
Not sure how Michael isn't at 1,000,000 subs yet. I know he went off on his own a couple years ago but he's that good.
This soo underrated.. this needs more likes...
It's a no brainer that the best foldable design is the Clamshell. Not every one needs a huge tablet sized phones. But many people would love a small phone in their pocket that can transform to a normal sized phone.
Clamshells are the future, even though it harkens back to the past!
2:59 the argument doesn't break down at all when you don't have $1500 to blow on buying a new foldable phone when a grain of sand inevitably gets on your plastic screnn and destroys it. I'm sorry but unless you've money to piss away I'll stick to two screens sandwiched together and leave the bendy displays for others.
Lol poor
I agree. Even ignoring the prices (which may come down but will always be higher). Foldables are always going to be very fragile compared to the conpetition. And for what, a pocket tablet? That is uncomfortable to hold, and only as capable as my phone? To me it makes way more sense to just carry a good, larger device in a bag. My Nintendo Switch has shown me just how much I love having a seperate specialised device on me for its own duties (still wish it had Crunchyroll and Netflix)
Id much rather carry a small laptop that is very comfortable to use, in a shoulder bag along with my switch. Then I have 3 devices that all excel at thier areas when I need them.
Then again, I get the impression RUclipsrs do a lot of work while in coffee shops and travelling. Something I would avoid at all costs.
So I see why RUclipsr opinions are scewed.
@@olivermorning4945 lol poor
Yup. I wasn't a fan of it during the announcement, but using it changed my mind. Playing games with it, watching TV on one screen while socializing on the other. Plus the fact it was under $1000!!!
