Great to hear from AB and see he is looking after himself! Can we also take a moment to appreciate Mark Howard as a presenter, he wears so many hats in the media but the way he graciously navigates a conversation like this you can tell how much he genuinely cares for people!
Didn’t used to be a fan of Howie but he’s grown on me and now I like the energy and enthusiasm he brings. Handled this chat with AB really well. Best wishes to AB, frikkin’ legend!
@@richardpate8014 his podcast is honestly one of the best in my opinion. Genuinely just feels like a bloke who is a fan that got a job chatting to people he’s interested in!
As an Englishmen in his 40s, AB is one of my all time favourite cricketers and sportsmen. Loved his toughness rebuilding Australia, the ultimate competitor. Good luck AB, fight this harder than you fought us in the 80s. Great great man.
My favourite cricketer. Total respect for AB. What a honest interview. Thank you Mark Howard for your thoughtful and frank questions - and AB for being AB.
As a kid living in the country with no tv listening to cricket on a am radio this man literally as captain brought back Aus cricket with guts and leadership we all talk about way too much now. He was the real deal. Had a lump in my throat listening to this. Thanks AB...
I just broke down and cried mate - this man was my hero and in my opinion is the GOAT - at age 54 I'm glad I still feel emotions ... AB meant a lot to me from the age of 7 or 8 and he obvoiusly had that effect on you too :)
As a Pom , Border was one of my heroes. It’s good to see him so positive and knowing he has great family , friends and medical support. It’s also humbling to see him standing and talking about Parkinson’s for greater awareness. Here’s to you Mr. Border… what a gentleman🫡
Alan Border is the Aussie batsman this Pom has most admired in 50 years of watching cricket. His batting was gritty, nuggety, flinty, and stubborn as hell. He played the percentages and parlayed a few scoring shots into a world-class cricket career. I am glad to see he is doing OK after his Parkinsons diagnosis. I admire him for going public with this. It raises the profile of this disease and helps with the fundraising for its cure. I want to wish him all the best. Keep fighting AB!
Like many Aussie kids AB was a hero of mine growing up and I have been fortunate to spend some time with him as an adult. He is facing this challenge in the impressive way you expect AB would - a wonderful person and a great Australian.
Such a brilliant and touching interview. I appreciate the transparent and humane discussion about Parkinson's. It is educational and life-affirming. Thank you Mark and Allan for this exchange. God bless you. 😊❤
Lots of love for this man!!! He is one of the real greats of the game. My heartfelt prayers and good wishes. He seems to be in good humor. And love his appreciation for Wasim Akram. Given a chance, he wants to be born as Wasim!!!! I don't know if any cricketer can have a better line of appreciation than that coming out of the legend Allan Border.
Great warrior ,brave think tank of one Era. Nice to see AB Coming straight from his story with a great vibe .Good, he knew what's the issue was and kept moving forward .Take care AB we love you and our prayers with you. USA 🇺🇸 Srilankan/US community
One of the true greats 👍 as an Essex CC fan I had the privilege of watching AB in 2 spells in the 80s, brilliant man, leader, handling this news in style and class as expected, best of luck mate 👏 👍 👌
Thankyou AB for a wonderful memory of watching you rebuild Australian Cricket in those days....you made sooo many Aussies happy with your cricket skills....I wish you all the best mate with this next battle you're a fighter for sure as that's obvious from your career....I am sure you will still fight this just like an opponent. I dont think it's a stretch to say every person who ever played cricket in this country has you and Jane in their prayers.
Big shock, I didn't know that AB had been diagnosed with Parkinsons. Wishing him all the best and he'll fight it as hard as he fought on the cricket field.
Man I'd love to get in touch with AB personally, just to thank him and offer encouragement. He doesn't know it, but he had a big impact on my career. In fact, he was the turning-point. AB was the man for the times during the toughest period Australian cricket ever endured. You have to love the bloke. His qualities earned him a legendary cricket career, but those qualities transcended cricket. There's not a better man in any field of life you'd want next to you in the trenches.
Being an Indian have supported the Australians in the WC87 against the English. Looking at him with Mark Howard you can see he's still wants to live, do things and wants to contribute which is the way he's always been as player and captain (Determined). I wish AB the best...
an australian stalwart , legend during his career, and after for the next generations. he cares so much about our sport and our country. god bless you mate. wish you all the very very best health for you and your family going forward.
Allan Robert Border - simply the 'GOAT' - great interview Mark Howard and AB you are the man - the only human to score 150 in both innings of a test match (Lahore 1980) and the one batsman that every team wanted to get back in the pavillion !!
Captain Grumpy! I've met you twice in my life after your cricket career... though I followed that with the amazement and admiration of every aussie.. your courage with your diagnosis is helping me through my recent adventures with heart failure and a minor stroke.. if there is no way out there is always a way through! Thank you, I can't play golf for crap but if you ever need a fishing partner? You're a legend!
What a great player he was. Superb cricketer and brilliant captain. He was a fighter on the field and he is managing his illness with the same bravery.
Wish you all the best in your current battle AB. Loved watching you play cricket as I was growing up and listening to you in commentary recently. You were a champion on the field and you continue to show your champion ways off the field.
A.B. played cricket with guts, determination, and integrity as he still does after cricket .A.B. gave me & many others so much pleasure. Personally, I will never forget A.B. peformances on the paddock and the inspiration off. ...in an era of cricket without sandpaper or snivelling.Good luck, Allan.
Wish you the best, AB! Lots of wonderful memories as 80s kid walking up at 5 am in my Mumbai home watching you and your invincibles keep beating the Indian team. Loved every bit of it... sorta. Love and best wishes.
Tough character, unbelievable batsman, brave as any. First time I’ve seen him look “old” which saddened me as it always does when your heroes fade. Not enough is made of his two innings in Trinidad in 84 against the peak of the W Indies. To me, the greatest innings he ever played.
The gutsiest cricketer I have seen. Heard of him first in 1979. He and Graham Yallop were young and upcoming cricketers then. Huge respects to the way he rebuilt the Australian team after the departure of Marsh, Lillee and Chappell. Wish him the best in his next battle.
AB a living Cricket Legend thanks for sharing, I witnessed my dad living with Parkinson's tough at times he was a avid cricket lover and lived to the ripe age of 89, as AB said no cure but we need to understand what those suffering with it go through, patience and lots of love required.
Oh god, top bloke, sad but uplifting at the same time. AB, as and Indian cricket fan 'marooned' in the UK, you are a top bloke. Loved how you dished it out to the Poms! All the best, sport. And this is a great clip.
as a Pom who envied Australia for having Border and an Essex supporter who loved having him I just want to wish Allan all the best of luck with his disease. Who can forget his innings playing with a broken arm? Great competitor.
Really enjoyed listening to AB during this summer. Brian Lara mentioned that AB was his hero, and it wasn't long till Fox had the 2 of them on air at the same time.
Glad to see he's doing well with it considering he was diagnosed about 8 years ago. I didn't know he even had it. I'm 50 now so I remember his battles with our boys extremely well. Good luck to him.
So sad to hear about this. Keep battling AB, massive respect for fighting this in the public eye and inspiring others. Good luck skipper all the way from England
As a Pom he was always a thorn in our side but what a fantastic batsman and captain he was. My wife has Parkinson’s and I know the difficulties she has with it. Really good to see he’s doing his best to look after himself. Top bloke.
Great to see the 1987 champion in good shape. Some great players of that time mcdermott boon Marsh. 1987 was so different. Love to see him healthy and good
As real a human being as you will ever find. An incredibly inspiring figure as the Australian Cricket captain whom during my younger years was blessed to witness first hand his tenacity of will and his competitive steely nature when faced with the likes of the west indies bowling attack. Always knew his presence at the crease was as formidable to his opponents as they were to him. A Great man whom we pray can see this illness slowly through, till his embrace with eternity. 🙏 Amen and Thank you Allen.
Wishing Mr AB Great Health and Happy Life, great man, who revived the Aussies Cricket Fortunes wayback in 80s standing as a rock and helped to build the team. Pray God to be kind to good people. Very thankful for the discussion in creating awareness about the Parkinsons. Best Wishes to AB
As a 12 year old crick fan, v were in awe of alan in his early days- he used to play st drive coming forward, later on he was a more of a back foot player.
As a kid who grew up in England during the 80s I had to watch AB and his team destroy us in the Ashes. But he always behaved with integrity and upmost respect for the game. Easily one of the top 5 cricketers in my lifetime. Legend in life not just the cricket field.
As an Englishman this man caused me untold misery for which I can never forgive him. But what a cricketer, what a competitor and what a captain who pulled Australia out if the doldrums and turned them into a dominant force. Lovely job by the interviewer here too.
Stay strong AB, you are my all time cricketing Hero ...you are a Gem for all cricketing nations around the globe...wish you good health and long life...Lots of respect from one of your biggest fans from India.
My Mum had it . I’m devastated for AB . A fighter that’s for sure .if anyone can stand up to it for as long as possible mentally it’s him . I’ve seen close up the effects . The shakes are the least of it
We talk about Sachin, Brian,Don,Ricky, Viv,Kane and Virat but rarely speak about this Giant of the game. Allan Border. What he did for Australian cricket is unmatched. A true Legend

An utter icon from my childhood. God Bless you Alan. Very best wishes from all your English fans.
