Just saw your sub count and was surprised you don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers, but I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. The production quality is the same as the channels with millions of subscribers and views. Love to see it, great job :)
Your content are amazing just started to watch your content two weeks before you just do an amazing just an amazing work waiting to see your work next year on freshwater on your next channel.
Tobi, yey another beautiful video.I am happy to see you came out with this educational film instead of clamming up,a little joke for you.Happy holidaze to all of Europe, stay safe, and let no one make you feel afraid,The crane family
Great channel ... I've been watching you for a long time, and what do I miss ?? TIME ... your films are too short, you do not spend enough time sharing your vast knowledge ... you are great to watch and I feel unsatisfied that such a passionate filmmaker records such short materials ... Greetings from reef Poland ...
Thank you for these words! Thats the reason why I started the second channel for some longer shots ;) Hope you like it, too! Wish you all the best from Germany
Back in the day I had a clam he wasn't the most colorful type I had them for 10 years most amazing I sold him when you put him in a 5 gallon bucket he was from one side of the bucket to the other that's pretty big and every now and then he would close up and water would shoot up at my lights I was always afraid the lightbulbs would explode from the water I had them kept for many years under vho fluorescent tube lights and they worked awesome
Awesome! I love my Crocea and Hipopus clams. Crocea you can buy a bit smaller. I did get a baby derasa with it but it was 2cm and didn't make it. I highly recommend hipopus as they do a great job of filtering the water ;) Only thing is i heard you shouldn't add a new clam once you have clams because there is a risk all the clams die. I saw this amazing crocea the other day at a bargain price but I just don't want to risk it ;) Now I wish I had a second tank ;)
@@seafriendlyreef It sounded like that if they have a disease then it spreads and kills the other clams - I don't know if it's across species or not - it would be fine if you had a QT to put the clam in first. I would speak with the guy at CoralClam.com - where I got my clams from - he's in Regensburg and his uncle has a farm in Micronesia. I'm going to look it up on R2R. I thought they talked about it on Rappin with Reefbum (Greg Hiller) but that was I learned not to use LaCl if you have clams - anyhow if I find more I will come back to you.
For those who are interested in how big they get, Tridacna crocea (fully grown approx. 15 cm), Tridacna derasa (fully grown approx. 100 cm), Tridacna maxima (fully grown approx. 25 cm)
I have 3 different kinds of freshwater mussels/clams. 1 mussel I forgot the name gets about 5 inches long 2 wide and they clean the blackwater are house makes hmmm sorry the people inside make. I have a few million of them. 1 clam that gets 6 to 7 inches wide 3 long is grey ish color I have a few thousand of them they clean the pollution in the soil we poor in every few months next to the abandoned mine we bought to fix the land. And a few dozen scallops to help add something new to the fish tank the oldest one is 10 years I've had it 2 years.
Wieder toll gemacht. Wo du nur immer diese ganzen „Freaks“ auftreibst😉 Dieses blaue Würmchen am Schluss ist auch mega interessant.🙂 mich würde interessieren wie lange diese Röhre ist. Gruß
My tank is 10 years old.... And I got my Squamosa when my tank was 5 years old. It has almost grown into a giant clam now. The clam was already 5 years old when I got him The amount of Calcium it consumes is too high. And it does do that smokey thing when it gets horny and my skimmer goes crazy that time. Clams does that during a certain lunar cycle to reproduce.... But sadly, my clam is a loner....
@@seafriendlyreef our shops should stock more of these. They can be captivate raised and do a good job in the aquarium by filtering the water and lowering nitrate.

Sangat indah kimanya
May i ask what is that tang in black with yellow tail and side fins
That first tank in the intro was awesome! How is it off the ground. Does the ceiling really support that weight? Dang!
I have a hippopus clam which basically has the same care as tridacna genus clams. It is one of the few invertebrates I am kinda attached to.

Fast growing animal. Mine went in palm sized and came out like a football after 5 years.
Nice vid Tobi , love clams but my copperband has eaten it and 2 nice scollymia 😢
Thank you Pete, oh nooo how horrible is that? :D
Yes very bad the scollymia cost around €700 , he's also had a go at trachyphyllia but at least the 4 aptasia have gone 🙄
superbe !!!
Nice thank you!
That is cool wish I could afford a tank
we have one at our store thats massive its probably 2 feet tall
Amazing! How long did it take for the clam to get this size?
- Isabel
Hi Isabel, this took over 15 years :)
I have one that's grown almost 2 inches in 2.5 months. I am using Metal Halide though, so growth is probably a bit faster.

I have wanted to try these for so long but I struggled with a lot of corals so not yet.
yes Alessio I can understand that!
Wow..very big.
How price is it?
Hi Remo
you can't say buddy, these animals grow for years in that tank haha
The clams how old?
I can’t even imagine the quantity of trace elements of this guy is dosing in his aquarium
Hahaha oh yes a lot
he became it small or he bought it already big?
As a small animal :)
