    I like how Dr. Dray can switch from being like "us," super giddy about cosmetic dermatology that give you a confidence boost but remaining firmly as a Doctor, when speaking in-depth about the product. The human side of holistic medicine is refreshing. Thank you, Dr. Dray.

    I’m not sure if someone else has mentioned this. It’s important to note that this stuff can easily clog up your drains. If you wipe off with disposable cloths, like baby wipes, and then rinse residual in your sink, it’s okay. Otherwise- your sink will get clogged up fast! 👍🏻

    I use this mask almost every day, mixed with hot water. Using very hot water is the key to getting a smooth paste without using ACV. It draws all of the impurities out of the skin. I have papular pustular rosacea and while it seems to exacerbate it when you first use it, it clears my skin completely when I use it every day.

      @@mamtaarora7174 I'm not sure about scarring. The only scar on my face is from when I was 3 and that is now barely noticeable. My mom (a nurse) used to pop open a vitamin E capsule and apply it to my skin every day and I did that in my early adulthood as well. The clay mask has definitely helped clean out my pores and remove dead layers and dullness. I love that it's not full of other ingredients.

    This mask was a life saver for my skin in high school. Around junior year I had these awful deep pimples on my forehead and sides of my nose and chin. My mom bought me this after reading reviews on it and it seriously helped. I honestly think it saved my skin. I have some old scars on my forehead from the acne but other than that I've been lucky to have a clear face.

    So I have been reading up a lot on this mask specially on ACV vs water. The reason ACV is recommended is because when mixing with the clay the PH of the mask settles to a 5 which is about the ph of your skin where as the ph with water is 8 which is too alkaline. The ph of ACV is typically 3-4 which can cause chemical burns. The clay and ACV balance each other out. This all being said I’m not a doctor, dermatologist etc but this is what I have gathered from reading a lot of tests people have conducted on this mask specifically.

    • @monkiram
      @monkiram Год назад +6

      The dermatologists at Doctorly tested this out with pH strips and mixing it with pure apple cider vinegar was too acidic. They determined that you have to mix 1 part ACV to 5 parts water and then combine that with the clay powder in order to reach pH of 5

    • @imawakemymindisalive13
      @imawakemymindisalive13 Год назад

      i know water is neutral, but still too alkaline for our skin… i didn’t realize the clay would make it even more alkaline lol. this is a good point, but definitely acv still has to be diluted with water 😅 i don’t have acv or this clay mask but i’m suffering from bad acne rn so im considering anything at this point

    I don't have acne but it make my skin feel and look smoother and clearer. I've added essential oils as well (tea tree, rosemary, lavender, or other) to create a more complex mask at times. I wonder if the green tea would provide and antioxidants to the mask.

    I have very oily skin, especially in the summertime, and decided to give this a try a year ago and I really like it! I don’t use it consistently enough to say that it shrinks pores, but it does noticeably lessen sebum production when my skin is at its worst. Especially for the price, I recommend it. I’ve tried it with just water and with ACV (before I started watching Dr. Dray) and honestly didn’t like smelling the ACV the whole time the mask was drying, plus it made the clay thicker and irritating. I might try it with green tea, though. Also, as someone else said, it can clog drains because it doesn’t disintegrate into nothingness like other masks do when you rinse them off. I have a little mask mixing bowl set I bought on Amazon for $4 that came with a paddle-like spatula and I use it to scrape the clay off and toss it in the trash, then rinse with a cloth. Oh, and it comes off my face SO much easier than other clay masks I’ve tried! No residue left on the washcloth, either.

    I had read that Moroccan Red Clay (Montmorillonite) was better for acne prone skin. I went that route with and purchased the Now Solutions brand months back. I have been enjoying it as well. I would expect these two are very similar.

      Stretch marks are permanent, but fade over time. The only chance of truly getting rid of them is skin removal surgery or laser procedures.

      @@flowersforever5970 I own a medspa and have stretch masks post pregnancy. There are treatments that help improve the way they look. I agree they fade some with time. However you can do treatments to help.

    I just bought this and it does work well for me but for my 60 years old mom, it works great. Her skin looks much tighter and smooth after one application. But must apply a good moisturizer after it.

    My daughter and her friends tried it with ACV and wound up with red burning faces! I tried to tell them it was the vinegar that was the problem but 20 year olds don’t listen to Mom, lol.

      Aztec itself says that redness is normal and it will eventually leave the skin after 30 mins.

      Actually the ph of bentonite clay is 8-9, which is far too alkaline for our skin, so mixing with vinegar actually makes the ph more suitable to apply to the face, as our skin is naturally slightly acidic. If you mix with water the ph of the clay will still be alkaline and will mess with the ph of your skin. I found just with water the mask made my face itch and with vinegar it was much more comfortable, even though I have very sensitive skin.

      It might be the tightening effect the mask has it says on the packaging " feel your face pulsate" because when it dries it tightens and it is supposed to bring more blood circulation to your face, it really is deep cleansing, best thing for blackheads and to bring stubborn pimples to a head

  • @moonie6083

    It is good for dry skin too, you just use more water and never let it dry on your face

    It should be used with Apple Cider VInegar since the pH of Bentonite clay is pretty high, so the ACV normalizes it to a neutral, more skin friendly pH. There is no fear of a burn from ACV since the whole mask is neutralized.

      all i can say is the cautionary note based on what i know from the literature and experience with people developing burns

    • @tahismarisantiago6117
      @tahismarisantiago6117 6 лет назад +1

      It burned my skin and broke me out really bad. The burning sensation lasted for a week and my breakout lasted about 3 weeks. So I don’t think ACV is for everyone, unless diluted with water.

    I have been using this for years! The price has shot up on Amazon over the years. But it's still worth the money.
    I mix my bentonite clay with different things depending on my skin. Sometimes I add charcoal, green tea, apple cider vinegar, distilled water, honey, and even certain oils. When I do the mix with apple cider it really cleanses and plumps my face. It can be a bit much. I should do one tonight since it's a snow day. 🤩
    Love your videos Doctor Dray!

    I love this mud mask. Been using it for awhile. Although the first time using I wasn't sure. since, as it dries it has a pulsating feeling on your face. It makes my face really red after but I put allot on. It helps with pulling stuff out of pores.

      Paris Nolen is just as ineffective as pore strips when it comes to anything with pores lol

    • @tmoore3188
      @tmoore3188 6 лет назад +4

      Naegleria Fowleri I'd have to disagree.. I wouldn't compare the mask to pore strips at all. I've used both and I've found that the mask really cleanses the skin, unlike pore strips. Pore strips actually cause more damage than good and they're a temporary "fix" but I've found after using this mask once every 2 weeks for 2 years now, it has made quite a difference in my skin and appearance in my pores. I wouldn't say it "shrinks" them but it definitely cleanses them.

    I love this stuff, I buy it at CVS. I do a 50/50 water and apple cider vinegar mix in a shallow glass jar and mix with a wooden spoon. I prefer to do it in the morning and leave it on for 20 minutes. It’s very relaxing.
