this is more than fashion, this is a dream scape brought to life. what a visionary. i hope he directs a film one day
It is like he was costuming a film, so gorgeous.
@@THEMODELGENEcostuming is different fron fashion, costuming is juts dressing ul someone for a play or a theater show.
@@SGXWRV Yes, which is why I used that word. Costuming is focused on narrative, establishing and reinforcing the identities of the characters. Galliano was telling a story here, not just showing clothes for sale.
I used to have the full version of this show. I used to pray to it....
His clothes are not to be jugded when only looked at on a dummy but also lived in. There's nothing more life-affirming than a Galliano look worn by a fabulous model.
After all these years I still LOVE this collection. The artistry and craftmanship are amazing.
All of these models were breathtaking
Naomi was supposed to be Pocahontas with long hair in this show 😍😍😍
How anyone thought that this was a bad collection boggles my mind.
mrblf652 maybe it because it a show with no substances. There is not évén one single garment that can be worn in real life.
@@sylvestregagnon5681 There's more than a single garment that can be worn, it's literally separates, coats, jackets, skirts. Not that it needs to be bc haute couture can't be bought in stores, it's bespoke
It wasnt a bad collection, but I would see why some people at that time might've have problem with it. Galliano's Dior in the late 90s to mid 2000s had a lot of elements that were not classic and loyal to Christian Dior's New Look. But of course, the House of Dior probably thought they needed a revamp after already having Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and Gianfranco Ferre follow in Dior's footsteps. Galliano was inspired by a lot of things, from Japanese fashion, art and origami, to ancient Egyptian art and fashion, to medieval and renaissance fashion, to the grunge and vulgar fashion of the London scene, etc. He was a very over the top and almost theatrical designer. His shows were a spectacle, and of course, why not go big when he is working for one of the biggest couturier houses. But personally, looking back in retrospect, I find a lot of his designs a tad bit garish. In my opinion, it wasn't until 2007, where Galliano started to really appreciate the House of Dior for what it was, while still retaining Galliano's creativity yet wearibility of the classic Dior.
I pity your concept of real life.
Silly fool. This collection is littered with wearable pieces. You have to take the theatrics of a show and see the individual garments. Those coats and jackets between 0:39 - 0:58 are a rich bitch dream
this is everything. the cut. the models.
i want a full version of this show so bad
Me too! Anyone have a link or can upload an available fill version?
ruclips.net/video/TmvJC3vrexY/видео.html here you can see more, but it's not hd
@@gowonhye69 Thanks I saw that video but some of the show got cut off. I read fashionspot forum where they had a link to the full HD version but the link is dead. Oh well :/
@@wenam87 Let's hope in some years someone uploads it like the fall winter 2002 one😭
I remember seeing this show on ABC television during their coverage of the Haute Couture.
I looooove the theatrics. I don't care how politically incorrect this is.
Neither do I and during this time neither did anyone watching. It’s enchanting and beautiful, his mind come to life.
Reminds me of the Terre d'Hermes perfume for some reason. But anyway how lame that it was panned by critics, this is so cool and dreamlike, definitely in my Top 10 of favourite Dior by Galliano collections.
Super master. 💖
1:39 Queen, serving Hanseatic lady
Carmen also looks like the “Lady with an ermine” by DaVinci.
Oh I finally get it. Orient express was his rationale to bring together a mix of cultures in one collection
Usually he would stick to one theme
So it was his chance to do multi culture in one collection 🎉
wow!
I love every fur and clothes. Shoes from Galliano😚
This collection was generally panned by the press and was nicknamed "the train wreck"
they would've committed suicide then if they knew how fashion in 2 decades will look like
The jewelry!
Suzy Menkes wrong again, how does she have any credibility left...
Genius
Interesting use of different cultures.
0:37 post coke hit kind of shake
reminds me to carneval in venice :-)

OOh,where we can see tis full show?
I see a lot of Giorgio d’sant Angelo
does anyone know the name of the first song? i've been looking for it for years :(
It is a Remix of George Michael "Father Figure".
@@isabelleskiss thanks! but do you know the exact name of the remix with the sitar instrumental? i can't find it :( maybe it was made only for the show?
@@felipecortes1514 I´m sorry, I don´t know this special Remix...
Jeremy Healy has mixed all of Galliano's shows, including Dior and Margiela, since the very beginning. He MAY have a soundcloud or spotify listing, but this was deffo his mix for the mediaeval touch. It was the Britpop takeover of Paris moment.
