cliff on my rusty 1980 i now have a switch on the right switchgear to turn lights off, so starter can have all the power it wants but your explanation of how it works is greatly appreciated

lol the starter on a XS pretty crap to say the least, on the euro XS's they all have light switches and are so much better, the trouble not having the switch is if the battery is a little dead ya buggered to start the thing as the bloody side lights keep coming on as soon as you kick it!! Who ever thought of that silly idea!!

I have a question for you sir, can I still do this bypass with the original charging system??? I understood you said towards the end of the video if you are using the pma system you have to bypass it, I am wondering if I will have charging problems with the original components since that yellow wire goes to the startor if I am not mistaken, any guidance will be greatly appreciated, by they way I am really enjoying your content keep it up, cheers from México.

Hi Salvador, yes you can still do the bypass and just tape up the yellow wire as it will no longer be needed, doing this bypass does not affect the charging system so you're good to go ;)

great tip about the clutch cover gasket. Standards of aftermarket stuff are just getting ridiculous . That other gasket is completely useless . What really pisses me off is the rubbish sold as Mikuni Carb Repair kits which contain nothing correct or useable grrrr. Nice set of ratchet spanners ......they are gorgeous arn't they.....I can't stop buying spanners I blame the marketing adverts and packaging lol

Alright John, I know exactly what you mean about the aftermarket rubbish you get, I got a tacho cable the other day for an XS650, it wouldnt even screw in the casing the quality was that shit, I threw it away in the end. Yeah those spanners are well handy, nice n clean too haha I dont want to get em dirty, I need to make a wall thingy to hang them all on in order! I keep meanng to buy a deep reach 13mm ring spanner for the bolts on the sides of the head, oh and another 13mm socket as I keep losing that size for some odd reason. :/
