    This is a needed video for those building a Crosskart or superquad where you have no other vehicle to use as a test bed to understand the clutch/kickstand functions. So, I thank you for your time and energy in producing this video. Cheers! Thumbs up on this one....

    There's 3 possible paths to Negative (-) Ground. #1 thru the neutral switch (shifter), #2 thru the clutch lever switch, and #3 thru kickstand switch. The running motor requires at least 1 of these pathways to Ground to continue running or else the motor stalls.

    Hey man thanks for sharing I really appreciate it I recently got my bike stolen whoever took it walked it down maybe 50 yards and tried hotwiring it from what I understood from your video he burnt out the clutch wires. I ended up soldering them and the motorcycle turns on when I hold the clutch and turn the switch on but the moment I release the clutch is shut offI’ll definitely be checking what you just showed on your video

    Thanks for the info. I was driving along and the bike turned off. I tested the KS, went to 0, the sensor at the clutch, kind of fluctuated a little, never went to 0. Is it possible to replace the sensor, if so, where do I find one. 07 Honda Aero. Can I bypass to be sure it is the sensor.

    Thanks for the video mate. Just out of curiousity does the Clutch switch have a positive and negative pin? and how do you know which is which incase you forget which to plug as the harness has both black wires.

    My clutch switch tests good... my side switch tests good... but kick stand doesn't kill the engine when clutch is out and in gear still? I know this is what some people want- but I want to restore the kick stand switch.

    Appreciate the video, if any one could help I am having an issue where, the engine dies when put into gear. both the clutch switch and stand switch are working after testing for continuity. If trying to start in gear with clutch in we get nothing. When started in neutral it fires, but put into gear it dies what should I check put next

I ended up tearing the f****** kickstand sensor out cuz I was so pissed off when the wires touch together my Dash came on but it still won't start in the starter switch does nothing I have to jump the relay and it turns over but it won't start f*** f****** f***

    Did the turn signals wires have to be hooked up to close the circuit or something

    • @MotoBikeMike
      @MotoBikeMike  5 лет назад

      John Smithllc shouldn’t have to have have the signals hooked up no. You have a 2001 CBR600 f4i I’m assuming. They will be slightly different than the CBR600RR BUT you should still have a clutch switch. Is their a set of wires at all leading to your clutch perch? If so than follow that it may not be in the exact spot as in my Aprilia it is located on the bottom of my clutch perch and on my CBR it’s well exactly where you see it in the video. The BAS sensor is usually located in the nose of the bike. You would have to take off the nose fairing and it should be below the headlight unit if it is in the same place as the CBR600RR. Since you have a 2001 f4i I am not 100% sure what is the same and what is different with the two bikes as their is a good amount that is different.

    Does having kick stand switch disengaged could cause any electrical problems?

    • @MotoBikeMike
      @MotoBikeMike  3 года назад

      No people do it all n track bikes all the time. They bypass the kickstand switch so the bike thinks the kickstand is up but they have completely removed the kickstand. You could just bypass it and instead of removing the kickstand just leave it on but don’t forget to put it up when you ride off lol.

    • @AntoniOrszykowski

      @@MotoBikeMike 😅😅😅 It might explain why road look like someone was plowing through it. Just kidding. I am fixing electric on mine and some strange things were happening hence my question. But just found out today that both switches were having shortcuts i mean one for light and opposite side.

    so if it reads OL and when I pull the clutch reads 000 that means the switch has no resistance and is bad? tia

    • @rvelandi1919
      @rvelandi1919 3 года назад

      No. OL is Open Loop. There is no continuity on the OL condition. The 000 means there is continuity or flow of electrical current. All connections have some resistance value.

  • @kevincraig8257

    Does the clutch Reed switch stop the engine from being fired up in gear ? Or does it have a different function?

    • @MotoBikeMike
      @MotoBikeMike  4 года назад

      Basically yes that’s what the clutch switch does. It overrides the neutral safety switch so if you’re in gear and want to start your bike you have to pull the clutch in. Just a safety feature so you don’t start your motorcycle while it’s in gear. Obviously that would suck.

    With my kickstand down I’ve got a reading those zero so is my kickstand switch bad? My bikes not starting

    • @MotoBikeMike
      @MotoBikeMike  4 года назад +2

      Dell Davis if you tested it like I did I would assume your kickstand switch is bad but first. Use electrical cleaner and clear up the plug area real good and just look to see if anything is noticeably damaged then give the kickstand switch a real good clean. Get all the grease and grin off because it picks up dirt real real easy. After you give it a good clean then re grease it with automotive grease used for axles/ bearings. They are usually water resistant and won’t just wash away or you could use lithium grease not a big deal you just want to make sure it’s cleaned well and then regreased. Maybe it’s just got so much build up it’s not working properly. Worth a shot before spending and money. Even though it’s not an expensive repair it will stop your bike from starting.
