    The A2 version of this amazing camera was my main camera for travel magazines that I shot for back in the 90’s. It’s an affordable and amazingly reliable camera that like a “Toyota” will run forever and give you amazing results. If you have Canon lenses and you want to shoot film this is by far a great camera to pickup. Great video!

    Thanks Rowan for a great review of a forgotten camera. Most analog photographers look for EOS 1, EOS 1n , EOS 1v and EOS 3, wich are really expensive. Not knowing that this wonderful camera you are reviewing does everything much better at a bargain price. You can get one on Ebay for less than a $100 dollars. The EOS 5/A2/A2e are excellent Pro level build camera, with a wonderful bright viewfinder better than the DSLR, a superb easy mirror lock up with the timer, diopter adjustment, spot metering, multi exposure and all of this easier to use than the EOS 1 and EOS 3.
    I recomend to use this camera with a good glass, because of the film size. I recommend Fuji Superia 400 with telephoto lenses and Kodak Ektar 100 with a wide angle lens.

    Hey ours Michael Ealy's brother. Seriously the EOS 5 / A2E is a great camera. It gives users a lot of latitude over the image. The eye control is pretty cool too. Would be nice if Canon and all the other Great camera makers would start manufacturing cameras again. Bring back the good old days when film cameras were King and people actually learned Photography.

    Nice video with a long shelf-life, like this camera. Just had one handed to me by a friend of a friend... first roll in development. My fingers are crossed! Thanks for sharing - appreciate it. PS - those portraits are beautiful. (Will prob adapt my existing FD 135 2.5 and possibly FD 55 1.2, although I'm tempted to get an EF 85mm.).

    I have both an EOS A2 and an EOS 5. They are both GREAT cameras, but there are some minor differences. Unlike the A2e or 5, the EOS A2 has a viewfinder diopter adjustment above the viewfinder. The EOS 5 has a Exposure Compensation Scale while in Manual mode, while the A2 and A2e have the silly + or - arrows instead. Because I wear reading glasses, I added a +0.5 diopter correction eyepiece to my EOS 5, so now it is my preferred of the two.

    I was a bit apprehensive moving forward with an EOS 5 sold without lens for less than $20. Your video helped me pull the trigger. You have very good contents in your channel, you should have a lot more subscribers. Keep up the great work you are doing.

      San S I bought this camera last month. I've always shot in "p" mode and used film with an iso value of 400. but my photos are not clear and bright at all. most of them turned out dark. The people I asked told me there might be trouble with the film or scanning. I do not know what to do :(

    The only thing I would change on this great camera is really small and that is to make it not so shiny, to be more matte black!

    Hey, nice video. Please tell me what EF mounted lens i can use whit this body? I planning to buy one eos 5. I can use my 24-70 f2.8 or my 70-200 f2.8 canon lenses?

    Hey, sorry :) i have another question. What u think, this body can handle the EF mount sigma art lenses too? Like sigma art 85mm 1.4 etc?
    The aperture, the AF.
    Thank you

      @rowanpatrick_  5 лет назад

      Zsolt Director of Photography Ábrahám Yeah the sigma art lenses all function well with this body. I have the 85mm f1.4 and it works perfectly

    Great video! I'm just starting to get into analog cameras and got the EOS5, but I haven't gotten a lens for it yet. Could you maybe please recommend some reasonably priced options for a beginner?
    Appreciate it!

    • @rowanpatrick_
      @rowanpatrick_  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you, my best recommendation would be a 50mm f1.8, you can get one either new or used and it won't break the bank.

      www.cameramanuals.org/canon_pdf/canon_eos_5.pdf press the af button on the back of the camera, you have now 6 seconds to change the af mode with the main dail (next to the shutter release) visible on the lcd screen
