  • Programming additional keys to start your car can be done by yourself, if you have at least two keys programmed to your car already. You can program additional remotes with only one key.
    Programming keys and remotes, despite them being one unit, is two separate processes. You can only program a remote for a key that is programmed to the car.

    Troubleshooting:
    My car makes a chime sound when I try to add a remote
    You've accedently released the unlock button first in step 3, this mode changes blinker operation and will chime up to 7 times (7 settings)
    Immobilizer screen doesn't come on for me when adding a new key.
    Adding a new key isn't supported on Canadian models
    I can program the key to start the car, but not the remote.
    You might have purchased a 620M (Galant) key, and not a 625M (Lancer) key. The Mitsubishi Lancer (non-Evo) is sold as the Galant in all countries except the U.S.

    One key remote wasn't working for my 2014 Lancer, and no other instructions worked, besides the second one here.
    Was a pretty scary moment when none of my keys worked. But after a moment, both of them were working again :) Thank you!

    Fob remote programming section worked for me thanks mate. Only problem i had was testing didn't seem to work at first because it must have still been waiting for further remotes.. Cycled ignition key to get it out of programming mode and all works your the man. Took a while to find your vid but glad i did you've stopped me from getting ripped off by the dealer.

      Had the same experience - got the car in 'programming mode' and it reacted correctly to the clicks of the second non-working remote - and then none worked - until I started the car and stopped it. Then both remotes worked (the one that was working before the procedure and the one that used not to work)... FINALLY a procedure that made sense and worked! I actually did it while the video was playing - and the locks on the car were locking and unlocking in stereo with the video...!

      Apparently not I had to pay someone to program my single key when it unmarried

    • @baileywhanau
      @baileywhanau 4 года назад

      No. This is a security measure of the immobilizer system.
      It prevents someone (who may have gained possession of a lost or stolen key) from programming additional keys.
      Usually, when you lose one of your valid keys, a locksmith (or Dealership) will reprogram the existing key + new key to your vehicle, thereby eliminating the lost key entirely from your immobilizer.

    i lost the transponder out of my key the only key i had the remote still unlock and locks the doors but wont start the car because i lost the transponder chip that starts the car can i go some where and just get a key and bring in home and reprogram it some how ?????

    • @baileywhanau
      @baileywhanau 4 года назад

      Once you lose your only transponder chip, the only option is for a specialist locksmith (or Dealer) to program new keys to your vehicle's ECU.

    Hi guys
    am having problems with my Lancer, i gave to a guy to check the fan but it looks like he blown my interior fuse box.
    Now am planning to buy a fuse box but i was told that i would have to programme the car. How does that work?

    • @sryuuza
      @sryuuza  6 лет назад

      Ivan rayton if you’re referring to adding your keys back into the car after replacing the fuse panel, that shouldn’t be necessary. The keys are linked to a module that’s located behind where you insert the key to start the car.

    • @ivanrayton7894

      Thank you #Patrick O'Connor, yeah, i won't be changing the keys just the fuse box. Hope it works

    Great video, I'd of preferred if you just verbally explained everything in the video rather then text windows.
    But that's fine.
    Annoyingly I'll have to go to the dealer to get my 2nd and 3rd key setup because my 2008 Lancer only came with one key sadly...
    Will likely order one of the Chinese ones online and take a chance on them, I've used 3rd party chip keys before, but never tried cheap sold from China ones off of eBay....
    Fingers cross they work proper since I'll have to fork over a tidy sum of money to the dealer to program the chips since I only got the one....

    • @sryuuza
      @sryuuza  6 лет назад +1

      Dylan Mayhew thanks for the feedback. I used text rather than audio since the beeping sounds of the car might be important cues for people attempting this programming. My car only came with one key and I was able to get a chipped one (no remote buttons) made at a local hardware store for around $60. This key, along with the original was used to add the third key (with remote buttons) to the car.

    • @TheIdleCrow
      @TheIdleCrow 6 лет назад

      All the hardware stores I've seen in my area don't have chip keys let alone the ability to program them.
      I could maybe find a locksmith who could likely sell me a key like you got. But $60 is allot more then I paid for two Chinese ones off eBay.
      I'm still waiting on them sadly... but should arrive soon!
      These Chinese keys have the buttons and hopefully they work proper as well!

    • @sryuuza
      @sryuuza  6 лет назад

      Dylan Mayhew the one in my area is called McLendon Hardware. I was honestly shocked when they said they did chip keys. I seem to remember Ace Hardware offering chip keys as well.

    • @baileywhanau
      @baileywhanau 6 лет назад

      Hi Patrick... may I please ask for clarification:
      1) You had only 1 working original chip key (already programmed to the car's ECU)
      2) You had a hardware store "clone" a new blank chip key, copied from your original key?
      3) You then programmed a 3rd chip key to your car's ECU (to start the car)... AND.... operate the central locking?
      It this correct?
