    Hello, who knows the name of this material used?

    • @magicwoodjewelry
      @magicwoodjewelry  Год назад

      Hi. What exactly do you mean? Most of the materials and what I do is described in the video, but you can always ask.
      I will try to answer as soon as possible. 🤜

      @magicwoodjewelry  Год назад +10

      @@zuohircherki9022 1- Dry wood 8 to 12%
      2- Sandpaper for wood from 40 to 180 / 220.
      (40,80,120,160,180,220)
      3- Polymer clay for figures (you can also buy a ready-made 3D print. If you don't have where to buy, please contact me. I can print it for you.)
      4- To build the mold, I used foamed PVC 3mm + transparents hobby glue to seal the mold.
      5- Moss.
      6- Epoxy resin is best used for deep pouring.
      7- Transparent dyes for epoxy resin. I used emerald and sapphire - mix.
      - After removing the resin from the mold, grinding with sandpaper from 60 to 220
      from 220 to 7000 water sandpaper.
      8- Water sandpaper (220,320,420,500,600,800,1000,1200,1500,2000,2500,3000,4000,5000,7000) This is the worst part of the work :)
      9- Acetone + Polishing paste for resins - After sanding, clean with acetone and use polishing paste for resins.
      10- For lighting, you can buy a ready-made usb led base and put it in your base. You will need a soldering iron for this.

May I ask, what is the name of the plastic board material that you used at 2:28 and where would I buy it? I have the same question about the thinner material that you used to bend the shape at 9:24? Both of these materials allow you to make the pouring "frame" that you needed so nicely.

    • @magicwoodjewelry
      @magicwoodjewelry  2 года назад +1

      Hey. Thanks for the comment.
      You have to wait for the resin to gel
      so that it is dense and holds the figurine
      When it is in the gel you can add another layer or wait for it to dry completely, but then the bonding of the resin layers will be more visible

      Hi. Thank you for opinion. Nice that you liked my work. I used foamed PVC for the mold, but I glued thin plastic to the walls for shine.
      You can use thicker plexiglass. It will be better
      I buy wood from my friends in Poland :)
      This is Robinia pseudoacacia. Remember that the wood for resin must be dry. I buy wood from a vacuum dryer.

      Hi. Thanks for comment.
      I add about 1 drop per 120 to 150 ml of resin.

      @@magicwoodjewelry may be they appear from the humidity of the wood that show up when resin set?due to you don't use vacuum machine for the resin mix?may be i don't know

    my admiration sr for ur work from Argentina, i wish to ask if it is possible to you, to tell me aproximatelly how much the piece cost for you to make, becouse in my country the epoxi resin its really expensive, of course u have no obligation at all, its just to have some sort of base number to figure if i can make some here or not, thanks a lot!

      Hi. Thanks! :) Sorry for the delay in replying. From what I remember, about 0.7 liters of resin went into it. Not much, because the lamp was also small. The price of resin depends on the quality. Good resin costs about $20 per liter. When you buy more, you pay less. I think the cost of such a lamp - resin + wood, lighting, sandpaper - is around $40. I sold it for $350, if I remember correctly. You can find a resin calculator on the Internet. when you enter the surface you need to pour, it will calculate how much you need. Remember that the wood must be very dry, with 8 to 12% humidity

    Nice. I have made streight epoxy coasters etc from cilicone molds. I have been doing this for 6 months so I understand epoxy pretty well. I started using a wo9d lathe for about 2 months now. My goal is 59 8nco40erate wood into epoxy for bowls, lamps etc. Does the wo9d have to be sealed to prevent air from the wood making bubbles as the epoxy is setting. If so what do you seal the wood with?

      .Thanks. If I flood the entire wood, I paint the resin before pouring a layer or two and leave it to dry.Wood will drink resin.
