    I also learned that in learning anything you only retain about 30%. It is very important that you go over it and over it. Also I learned earlier in my life it takes 37 times for anything that you've learned to be put into long-term memory

    Study routine
    Morning
    Wake up at 7am - fuel your body and do your morning routine.
    8am - Exercise HIIT 30mins - 1hr
    10am - start studying : read something new since your brain is in acquisition mode
    11am - take 15 min break
    11:15am - continue acquiring new information
    12:15pm - 15 min break
    12:30pm - Do flash cards and test yourself from previous work
    2pm stop studying
    Total study time 3 hrs
    Evening
    Same routine but start at 5pm

      Thank you Dr. Grace but can you make a video on how to use Anki without making the reviews overwhelming. I use Anki as a medical student from Nigeria but now I have close to 4000 cards and an average of 300 cards to study everyday. It's just becoming increasingly overwhelming.

    Thank you for this video. I’m an IM resident though, and most of the time we’re working. I only study whenever I had time, meaning in between admitting a patient, doing rounds, doing an errand, or if I’m not sleeping because of exhaustion. Sometimes I read or have my meal while walking from one ward to another. Looking back, during med school, I should’ve have studied smarter rather than harder.

    I use ANKI to schedule when to go through the things I learned. I have a deck for each subject and a flashcard to the specific themes within the subjects. It works wonders because the most difficult part about spaced repetition is to remember what you have to study and when, since it can become quite overwhelming as you add more and more to the total information you should be reviewing.

    • @gabriellabrunetti1860
      @gabriellabrunetti1860 2 года назад +2

      everyone raves about Anki but the platform is so overwhelming, I feel like it takes me more time/effort to make flashcards and I dont really know how to make or use them effectively. is there any video or suggestion you have to using anki in a way that works?

    I’ve told people that classical music was the only music I could listen to, to focus. They used to play it at the start of every assembly as we were sitting down during primary school and during assessments in class. I’m happy my school did this and that this is actually proven to be good for learning.

    Hi, Nella! Helpful video. I have a question though. For those of us who have to be at school for classes basically the whole day (that is, from 8 in the morning to 5 in the evening), what routine can you recommend? It gets really exhausting trying to handle classes, practical sessions and getting back to actually study at the end of the day...well, for me at least. Please help. I'd really appreciate it. Thank you❤️

    • @Dr.Nellah
      @Dr.Nellah  2 года назад +2

      I’d say do your routine in the evening since you can’t do it in the day. Take time between classes and when you get home to unplug so you break up the day and then just get it done. You have to be disciplined because it needs to get done, you can’t rely on how you feel unfortunately even though it’s valid to be be tired x
