Totally agree. If you can’t crush it with any of these cameras, your problem is technique. Image quality and AF will be great on all (though worst on Canon b/c of the lower megapixel count). Consumers will pick which ever feels best in hand, has the glass they want/need and that they can afford. If you are lucky enough to own any of these three cameras, you win. Personally, I’d go for the Sony b/c I’m a wimp and place a high priority on weight. I need to hit the gym or something. :)

I think definetly they are coming with a smaller z8. I see the same sensor and expeed with just smaller buffer and some cutdown feature like no prores or even 8k 60p. It will be the perfect competitor to the R5. My only problem is when. The other brands have nowadays more or less a coherent line and for us, its z9 and then the rest. Its like a big gap in between, you just look in envy to those that can warrant the cost and just sit, because there is no R5.

@@sarfaraz.hosseini Why should the Z8 has to be higher megapixel. Until now the D3-D6 have been lower megapixel, The Nikon D2x was the flagship high megapixel during the days. So Nikon always change model specification . Everyone was astonished by the high megapixel d800 which was supposed to be the successor of the D700. The Z8 will have to be a very high seller for Nikon, so a very broad camera spec and not a niche one. So I don't expect a high megapixel camera at all. At least not above 45 megapixel.

  • @natalieauroraphoto

Fun video but I couldn't disagree more. e.g. a 24@30 camera shouldn't beat a 50@30 camera in framerate. That category was really a math problem - how much data is a camera pushing at any given point? And yes, the a1 evf degrades in AF-C.... to the resolution of the R3 evf, so that's not an advantage for the R3, obviously, considering the a1 is higher res in AF-S and playback, and the same in continuous. Just some bizarre choices.
Personally, I think it's a tie between the z9 and a1, depending on which features you'd rather have. e.g. the 1/400-1/500 flash sync on the a1 (Which you didn't even mention.) vs. the ergonomics of the z9. I could go either way, *ignoring lens selection*, which then becomes a clear sony win. But the R3 winning this roundup is kinda nuts - I don't even put the R3 in the same category as these cameras. The R3 is in the a9 roundup with the 24mp sports cameras. e.g. R3/a9/D6/1DX

I'm a Canon and Olympus shooter, but after viewing this, if I had to choose one of those three, I'd probably go with the Sony. Overall, I preferred what I was seeing with the Nikon, but they totally lost me at electronic shutter only. Too bad, really. As for Canon's controls, if I go by the EOS R, which I own, honestly, I generally prefer the control interface on my Olympus E-M1. Finally, the body is only part of the equation. From what I've seen, Canon and Nikon have pretty closed ecosystems when it comes to lenses for their new mounts. The availability of more reasonably priced third party lenses for the Sony mount makes that system so much more attractive to me. I kind of wish that I'd picked a different brand when I decided to add "full-frame" to my kit. As solid, and reliable as my Canon is, a couple of years in, I'm really not seeing enough advantages over my m43rds system to justify the investment, and there's no way I'm gonna pay for any more of that "L" glass. It's good, but waaay too much money. Please Sigma and Tamron, get some lenses out for RF and Z mounts.

Don't misunderstand me - I enjoy and subscribe to this channel, however, this is one video I will NOT be watching!! Why? Well, for me these interbrand comparison reviews are, for 95% of photographers, irrelevant! Well, that's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it. The vast majority of photographers cannot afford or justify brand switching. If we are serious, we already have a significant investment in our chosen brand - which ever it might be. And, let's be honest, they are all great cameras and so long as the photographer is competent and takes the trouble to learn how to use them, they will all give stunning results. I am certain that each unit will outscore the other two in one aspect or another. To me it is far more important to get good information on how to get the best from one's chosen brand / model not to be made to feel either smug because you chose the one that outscored the other two, or dissatisfied because your chosen one was beaten by the other two. And, let's face it, we know each manufacturer will continue to fine tune the performance, reliability, functionality etc. through firmware updates so they will continually leapfrog each other as time goes on. Rant over.

There are also new photographers that watch these kind of videos to figure out which brand to choose. They might not buy a flagship body as their first but if that's what they're aiming for in the future, choosing a brand based on the differences in those cameras can be a good move. That way they can start building a collection of lenses and then later buy a flagship used or new if they can afford it then.
There are also the people that are transitioning to mirrorless cameras and that's a good time for changing brands if they feel like trying something different.

So, I've shot with a Canon R5 and compared it to a Nikon Z7 both using the same Canon 100-400mm lens courtesy a Fringer EF-NZ adapter. I was shooting industrial photos of a 6 GHz microwave radio and its dish antenna mounted up on a tower but from the ground. I really loved the R5 body and its controls, extremely well though out. I also like the Canon lens, which autofocused as quickly on both cameras! What really surprised me was the resolution difference between both cameras. The Nikon raw had more detail than the Canon with the same crop. The Nikon Z7 jpg with in camera processing was far superior to the Canon R5. In fact, except for more post capability, for a well exposed shot, the fine jpg mode of the Nikon was very adequate. I was unable to process the Canon raw to achieve the same detail I got from the Nikon jpg. I was shocked! I believe the R5 does have an anti aliasing LP filter on its sensor while the Nikon doesn't. That might have made the difference. I was really ready to switch to Canon due to the quality of the EF line of glass and the camera's ergonomics. But meat and potatoes image quality kept me from making the switch. So, my next camera will be a Z9, and unless the Nikon 100-400mm S series lens, when it is available, is truly better than the Canon, I'll stick with being a Nikanon shooter, best of both worlds.

The interesting future is whether or not Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji etc will drop their mechanical shutters or not & if Nikon manage to fix the banding issues that some are experiencing in LED-lit halls etc.
The other interesting thing that Leica has done is pixel binning on their new M11 - I hope the other manufactures follow with their next models - lower high ISO noise at lower resolution or high resolution with more noise.

I think the comparison among these 3 cameras is very good but trying to rank them seems totally arbitrary. Yes, you've got factual differences in specs but you give the same weight/value to each category. Some of these specs matter far less to me than others. I'd be more interested in seeing outcomes. What can you really do with each of these cameras?

@@mirrorlessny Funny, for me it’s the opposite; I have always slapped a battery grip on my previous DSLR bodies just to get that full body handling that I need out in the field. Although I have the option to take it off I actually never do that because the vertical grip is so important to me. I also do a lot of hiking with it, always keeping it in my hand. Not tucked down in my backpack. That’s what I love about the Z9 and R3. Personally, I would never go mirrorless for the miniature body sizes only. That’s not what mirrorless is about, for me.

No matter what you choose you're getting the best the industry has to offer, and that's a great place to be from a customer standpoint.

It's the Lowepro Flipside Sport 15L AW. The first bag where I have used every single feature as they described it in the marketing. It's my favorite bag. I got it 10 years ago in Singapore when travelling in SE Asia. I use it in cities and crowds and don't worry about pickpocketing because it only opens in the back. Other uses are horseback riding, hiking, carry-on bag, it fits in my pelican air so works while boating and guiding from shore to sea.
They don't make it anymore and moved to more compartments, larger backpacks and side/back access with that series.

    • @erichramone7812
      @erichramone7812 2 года назад

@Hates Spam your kidding right? The R5 is a sports wildlife dream come true. Up until the Sony A1 came along the R5 was the best bird and wildlife mirrorless camera to date. Also cropping ability in post is a huge deal to many birds and wildlife shooters out there. The R5 had 20 fps electronic shutter just like the Sony A9II and more mega pixel. The bird eye detect autofocus was ground breaking and still is just as competitive as the A1. Just as a “suggestion” you might want take a relook at that camera. It’s won photogs over across the world

@Hates Spam well I do a lot of street photography and wildlife, birds, birds in flight, general wildlife / squirrels, dogs etc. I also love landscape. My Z6II is a great all around camera however it doesn’t cut it for fast moving animals or people . Especially birds. I think to take my bird photography to the next level (besides great lenses) I need a camera that can shoot fast and track fast moving subject. My D500 does a decent job at fast moving but not amazing. Also I seen lots of stuff online of birds shot on a 600mm f4 lens then cropped in post that look much better than mine. I know that A7rIv is really good for that

That's a tell-tale sign that something is going on. These are supposed to be "hybrid" cameras right? A note to cinematographers out there, you can't go wrong with the z9. As a Sony shooter since the Mavica days, it is always great how Sony sets the bar and C/N follow along 1#2 years later. So the A1 is a fantastic camera ending in 3rd place, but you didn’t reveal each camera’s release date! If all three came out on the same day, I’d consider jumping ship, but we know the A1 has been here coming on 2 years while the C/N models came out a year or more later…enough said.
