You have to remember this man is over 60 years old and still rocking hard.
Only 60? Hot damn, I have a chance! He married? I'm single! (And I also pretend at playing drums. )
@@Marnee4191😂😂😂😂😂
Danny is the man, but you know what is even crazier? Nicko Mcbrain just turned 72 and is still touring the world with Iron Maiden..
@@keithheaneypercussiveIn Iron Maiden, each band member is a legend on its own...
@@BypassOneidk if Janick is quite on the level of Dave and Adrian, but he's getting there. And we dont even need to say anything about Bruce and Steve!!!! Up the irons!!!
Danny’s is probably the most down to earth person i’ve ever seen, he doesn’t let the fame get to him he’s just a regular guy who plays drums for the best band alive 💯
Facts.
Didnt he get drunk as fuck in public and totally let the fame get to him? Other than that i agree

For sure.
The trickiest one..And he didn't say Pneuma...Absolute machine!
was expecting that too haha
Pneuma is just mainstream, it's not really that hard as other tool songs
@@michelangelopoli6474 Pneuma on drums is hard af to play correctly, but the guitar and bass parts are some of the easiest out of most Tool songs.
@@michelangelopoli6474 Wrong. Even mike Portnoy was losing his mind trying to play it.

Agreed. A tremendous genius that I don't think we've even begun to appreciate.

Class act for sure!!
Danny is up there but Chad Wackerman is the world's greatest living drummer

Correct!!!
Yessir!!
So damn grateful these guys have stayed together all these years and still tour. It wont last forever, so go see them live whenever you can especially if you never have before.
100 %
Saw them a few years ago and just saw them in February and they happened to play The Grudge… love that song but live, just like my girl put it, is an out of body experience. She liked Tool, she saw the light and has b come a fan and won’t stop playing it.
@@apkenna Ive seen them 8 times and never had the pleasure of seeing the grudge live. Lucky you!
I got to see them two months ago. Fucking insane. All of the songs I o heard live are that much nore powerful now!
@@apkennawhere in Feb? We saw them in Birmingham
I feel extremely fortunate to have gotten to see him perform live this year. His drum solo right after intermission was one of the best things I’ve ever seen
Was it Chocolate Chip Trip? Always thought that be cool to see live
@@steveboyle6891 No, he freelanced by soloing on a gong, then strapping on a first person cam and jamming behind his kit. One of the best things I’ve seen in a live performance.
@@D1337ificationI saw them for the first time at staples center this February. Core memory.
I saw them in Hollywood FL this winter it was transcendent.
me and my fella went and were trippin - if you seen them on the fear innoc tour - after Brass against were done - the 3D stuff started and my fella turned and went 'is that the geltabs kickin n peaking or is that an actual hindu god above us' and then when danny did his solo (fella's a drummer) and i just looked over towards the end n my fellas mouth is on the floor and i just hit the giggles randomly, big smile - knowing i was watching someone that so many drummers regard as the best metal drummers around and basked in it when 'the symbol' lit up and the visual began pulsing, purely made of danny's energy.
11/10 would do all over again
i thought all the songs are the hardest 💀

Me too. mate.
The Grudge is incredible song Tool is amazing 💯🔥🚒💪👿🎸🥁
Grudge never fails to put me into an adrenaline trance 🫠
Danny's an older dude, and he has to bring it every nite during Tours, or every other nite one. He's awesome.
Yeah it’s crazy he’s 63 and still goes so hard, like almost every night for months. And it seems like they tour every year now.
That's insane those are the exact songs that popped into my head......as a drummer myself I'm glad he made a distinction between technically difficult vs mechanically difficult.
I'm not a percussion guy but I've just recently started listening to Tool and I can tell that this guy is next level. 👍
Now that Neil Peart is gone (him and Danny were good friends), he's probably the best drummer alive
Better buckle up if you have just started listening to Tool !
fr lucky man@@manicr1
He is the last level.
@@MortimerJones99 no. there are so many drummers out there. Danny's my favorite but he's not the best and he'd tell you the same. Just like Les Claypool isn't the best bass player, Victor Wooten is.
Damn, such a layed back freakin genius… RIP Neil Peart and long live Danny Carey!
My favorite now that Neil peart is no longer with us.
I think these two would give a head nod to each other , with 💯 respect.

And this is why Jon Dette works out!
@@chrisoys2746
Oh they were friends and jammed together. In videos together Danny seems like he’s having the best time playing with his idol.
My favorite drummer still living. Danny playing drums with the "2 minutes till midnight's crew" covering Rush's "Anthem", imo, was pretty special. I'm sure most everyone has seen the vid and if not go give a listen. R.I.P NEIL PEART! Both Neil and my Mother passed on the same day... Still crazy to me!!
The man the myth the living legend himself god of Drums himself Mr. Danny Carey 🎉
Answers a question he must have received a billion times with pure sincerity and thoughtfulness and a huge smile on his face. What a guy!
The ending of the grudge is some of his best work.
I agree but most of Lateralus is some of his best work. The whole band was peak on that album tbh
Thank you for sharing this!
My man casually ignored the answer: Rosetta Stoned
He probably gave a response that catered more to this current tour of songs.
Maybe 15 years ago this would’ve been his answer, but he’s got this one down now.
They haven't played that in so long though
Update they’re gonna be playing Rosetta and Jambi this tour
@@CaptainMorgan_CommanderPotts I saw them in El Paso and they played Jambi, Rosetta Stoned, Invincible, and The Grudge. So I guess he wanted to punish himself.
Can we talk about his ballin' Killing Joke shirt? Fuckin' A!
Always a man of class
KJ opened for them, 2019.
@@medicinegone I got to see them together in Pittsburgh on the Fear Inoculum tour. Both were amazing!!

Seems like a genuine man. I love Tool, and every time I see their authentic, calm demeanor in interviews I just love them more.

Wow, I didn't expect that answer at all, but I loved to hear it. The Grudge is easily one of my favorite Tool songs, it's without a doubt my favorite album opener. Danny's fills in that song are insane.
The down to earth vibes make Danny so likeable.
I always thought 46 & 2 was insanely hard. Man is a legend!
I thought it was Pneuma!
Danny is such a cool guy. Love him.
Danny’s drumming on Invincible is f’n awesome. Definitely one of their best songs ever
It’s cool getting that insight. That was a good question to ask him!
He seems like such a kind dude.
The grudge is one of my favorite songs, in general. But I am a drummer. Best song to ever start off an untouchable body of work, such as that Album. Thank you for your Artistry, and always being the Gold Standard. There will never be another percussionist like you. And there shouldn't be. As with Neil Peart. And Jon Bonham. I can't help but say that you have permanently changed the way that drummers play, you changed the way that music fans listen, and you have challenged your critics, to find any other musician in your role, to equal or better your skillset. You have mixed most any genre, and produced massive time scale changes, that have never been implemented in a spoonfed Industry that only understands 1,2,3, and 4/4 time, and came out shiny and appreciated on the other end. As it should be. I love you man. And I don't love Men. I support your endeavors, and don't want to live in a world where you do not. Cheers!!
he will always be THE MAN, his prowess & technique on the kit have made him a LEGEND
From an Army vet, thank you for Invincible.
Literally the greatest drummer of all time...
This man is the real heart of TOOL
I'm so grateful he still gets through them flawlessly. I was glad to be able to hear the Grudge live my first time seeing Tool back in Feb. (2024) Mr. Carey may be mortal but he plays like a God 🤘
Danny looks like he always has peace in his life. Still humble.
Pandaemonium is a badass record!
true dat. best in the '90s catalog and easily in top 3 kj record. imho it's a gateway album, easy on new fan ears.

You are the gratest in all time Danny.hope you live 1000 years!!!
I love he was mentioned the song Invincible. I was thinking about the earlier years and the evolution of Tool and Danny as an outsider looking in mentioning my favorite song you play is awesome and deeply felt
I cant recall Danny Carey not taking time to answer questions or an autograph, what a guy.
There he is…one of the best if not the best percussionist on the planet. Notice I didn’t say just a drummer because he towers over them ALL !
Y’all living under rocks.
@Bravery469 who do you say is the best?
@@ianzander5057 because most drummers are not percussionist. Hes a professional at what he does all around.
As an aged warrior invincible is my favorite song ever. Yall make great music. I'd love to see ya top It but im pretty sure that will be my favorite song forever. FINALLY saw you guys in at&t stadium in San Antonio TX couple years back. It was probably the top moments of amazing music in my 40 years of life. Everything from a few burning plants, the music, my best friend being with me from Fort Worth, the visuals the absolute insane clarity of the music. It was like it was recorded then piped into your being. It was a experience like none ive had. I see why we couldnt afford to be closer. Amazing experience. 10 of 10.
Only someone who TRULY LOVES Drum Theory and the complexities of Polyrhythms, and how to apply them to your body, would be able to not only write these crazy complex drum lines (which are really "equations"), but to LIVE the Composition in a very physical sense. Danny Carey has been my "Go-To" Drummer since I first heard the "Undertow" album. I lost my mind when I first heard "Aenima!!" Since the early 90's I've listened to every note from this band. Untouchables!
Rosetta Stoned? 🙆🏻♂️
Yeah with the long polyrhythm that song has after the 7 minute mark, I thought that would’ve been right up there for him.
@@joshnc101The thing is he’s mastered rosetta stoned and he most likely loves to play that song, probably really fun to be able to drum as good as he can.
Love Danny. Argue all you want about who’s the best technical drummers but he’s gotta be the most creative A lister out there.
Technical is a 😴
Danny is a sweetheart and the most down-to-earth person you'd ever want to meet from what I've heard from people who have met him. There is a video of him just chilling at a Morrissey concert like everybody else. He was up in the balcony. I found out later that they frequently do this so that people are less likely to spot them and ambush them. He was just up there chilling like a regular person. If people around him realized who he was, they left him alone.
Love this man. Haven't seen 7empest live yet so I was super excited to see that they played it a couple times at the end of their tour in Europe. Going to be holding my breath looking for that one. I had the good luck to see Culling Voices debuted in Sacramento last year and that was a very intimate and beautiful moment. Tool is my favorite band to see live even though there are not a lot of surprises if you check the internet before whatever show you might catch. So stay off the web and enjoy the show. If I were going to catch Tool playing any tour in their history I would not hesitate to choose 2023. I love all the new songs and thank you guys for all of the music. We love you.
Hey Danny tell that singer guy wats his name 2 leave u alone while playing 😂😂😂🖤
The gong dong😂
Pandemonium - Love that album 🤟
Dude seems so genuinely chill and cool. Like any stranger could have asked him this question and he would be engaged in his answer as he is here.
62 years old and still doing it at this level. Only looks 42. Must have taken care and avoided the dope and booze. Best drummer i have ever seen. They played here in Milwaukee earlier this month and it was the best concert i have been to since the last Tool concert I saw.
I freaking love Danny
Best drummer in the world hands down
Agreed. At the very least
😂
THE GRUDGE IS MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME, FIRST SONG TO EVER RAISE THE HAIR ON THE BACK OF MY NECK...ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE TOOL
I watched a video breaking down what Danny Carey does and what he IS because I’ve never liked Tool enough to listen to their discography and man, this guy is a monster. I knew I respected tool but now I really feel it
Phenomenal human being...in every aspect... It's so funny how you can see the nobility and the honor and the honesty ...just in his face💪
Phenomenal? Yes
Human? Doubtful
Gotta love how responsive and talkative Carey can be with fans, Adam Jones would be like: _"... uhm, it's a 94"_
I hear Danny's strong Midwest accent and it reminds me of 3/4ths of my family from Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. For reference, Danny grew up in Kansas, not too far from where I was born. It's amazing how his life in California hasn't really affected his accent. Keep at it Danny - stay humble, but more important, stay AWESOME.
Danny Carey’s skills are phenomenal but what I find more amazing is how chill and humble he is about it.
Dont you just want to talk to this guy for hours after seeing this? JOE ROGAN???
i thought ticks&leeches is the hardest😅
They’ve rarely played that one.
For maynard
@@thegoatchild3545probably because it's hard on maynards voice
@@bevrosity That’s the most obvious reason. The times they did play it, his voice was heavily effected. I have very mixed feelings about the song, to be honest. I can’t help feeling like his voice was never the same after it. Also it kinda disrupts the flow of the album.
@@thegoatchild3545 still an awesome song tho

Danny is not only an elite musician, he also comes across as a quality human being.

Is awesome. True talent man..
One of the greatest drummers to ever do it. Danny is amazing and I’m lucky enough to have seen Tool perform 4-5 times mostly in the 90’s. One of my favorite bands of all time!!!
And yet, he makes every one of them look effortless.
He seems like such a wholesome guy. Genius!
Im a classical musician (pianist) and to me, classical music has always been, in general, a step above every other type of music in terms of greatness. As an obsessed Tool fan, i can say that this band is on pair with the greatest classical composers. Greatest band ever period.
I’ve never been a big fan of Tool but DC has always come across as a humble, down to earth guy. He doesn’t give off the typical rockstar musician vibe at all.
The last minute of The Grudge is astonishing. Truly epic!
He IS a legend, I never expected him to say "The Grudge", because I do a live acoustic guitar and vocal version of it on here and I'm playing bass line on same guitar simultaneously, plus singing and doing percussion. Danny made 5/8, to me, 1st nature just from listening to him. Danny. You are incredibly humble and brilliant simultaneously
Dude doesn’t even realize how good he is. So humble.
after decades of waiting I got to check Tool of my bucket list. DC is such a machine
Danny is a legend and I feel lucky to have seen Tool perform live for the first time this year.
I listen to tool almost everyday primarily to hear Danny Carey's incredible talent his innovative style is such a welcome contribution in the evolution of Rock Danny is a driving force in the music industry and has set the bar's height for a long time to come . Congratulations Danny
Im with Danny on “the grudge”, dude was wild for putting that much energy in to a rhythm section that he could’ve played very straight. And that ending?!? JAYZUZ!
Good question and he was so cool about answering it fully and tboughtfully
Best drummer in history, IMHO, and my favourite band. Have followed TOOL since 1996. They have had a special place in my heart ever since.
not enough people like him in the world ....saw a drum solo live and much respect....one of kind
Humble and completely honest answer. You can just tell thinking about your question, and gave you his honest answer in that moment. You gotta love Danny. Even as a not Tool fan in the way that most Tool fans are about Tool 😅 I’m definitely a fan, but they’re definitely one of those bands that have certain fans that would probably murder somebody over them if it came down to it 😅
Danny is an incredible human and drummer. He is definitely in tune with the frequency of life and goodness. He is a drumming genius. God bless you, brother. Keep us all rocking...
Man in every interview I’ve seen of Danny he seems so open and unpretentious.
My most favorite band in the entire world , simce i was a teenager and when 'schism' first dropped and a music video i seen. I was hooked ever since that day.
Amazing artist. Their music actually connects with my soul. I listen to it going to bed at night.
I love your new stuff, but The Grudge will always hold a special place in my drummers heart. Pure musician genius & you probably just felt it out in the moment..
Love these guys love this band, honestly, Danny, Adam, Justin and Maynard are all amazing and sound just great 👍
Love that my fave Tool track is the hardest one for Danny for endurance. Drummer's like me love that damn song. He's an animal.

Super cool, engaged with the fan, impressive.
That’s an awesome shirt . I only recently learned how accomplished all of the members of tool are in so many different industries. It’s amazing.
I am more of a fan of Danny's drumming style then the band or they're music thanks for uploading this clip ❤
I’ve been playing on my own but mostly listening to Tools songs at the same time I miss playing on stage at the Palace in StKilda I played 1996 to 98 I had never rehearsed before I got on stage and I’ve never sang the same song twice if it didn’t make the top 10 at 10 with the 12 angry listeners most of mine made it I play bass and I have a g-string on the bottom string of my bass guitar it is so different I actually love it like that .
