H.D are simply too expensive, you get too little for the money, - I would always choose a Triumph or BMW, then you get a lot more motorbike for the money. BMW is in a class of its own, - super quality that ensures thousands of miles without any problems.

In my opinion these new Scouts look really good and are a big step up from the previous gen but I think the Harley's still compete or beat these new bikes in a few ways. For one, Nightsters had a big price drop for '24 such that now a base Nightster is nearly the same price as a Scout Bobber Sixty w/ABS (and the Nightster offers much more for that price). This also means that these new Scouts are considerably more expensive than comparable Nightsters. A Bobber limited is $1700 more than the base Nightster and the Bobber limited +tech is $1700 more than a Nightster Special. Yeah you are getting an even bigger engine but the Scouts weight at least 60lbs more so performance will only be marginally better than a Nightster...we'll see about ride and handling but the Nightster is significantly better than the old Scouts and will likely still be better. I do agree the overall appearance is nicer on the Scouts. I think the Nightster has a good profile and the proportions are good but fit/finish/details are a step down from the Scouts. For the top of the range I think the Sportster S wins vs the Scout 101. Personally I think the Sportster S looks cooler (and like nothing else in the market really). From a performance standpoint the HD 1250 simply crushes the Scout 1250 (and weights 50lbs less). Overall though these new bikes do look really cool and I'm anxious to test them out. I hope they do well for Indian and in doing so force HD to continue to develop the Rev Max platform.
I think HD are heading in a fucking ugly direction personally - the modernisation is good but holy fuck everything they make looks MESSY. Indian know how to clean up lines and hide stuff.
Keep the 60, and lower the price on the base model. The new Scout classic looks sweet! I've seen more than enough bobbers, thank you. And they have less lean angle! Just...No! I'm REALLY interested in their Super Chief, but they went and bobbed the damn fenders! With the vestigial front fenders they're putting on some of their bikes, they may as well delete them altogether and drop the price a couple hundred bucks. I'd respect that more than what they're currently doing.
I'm switching from Hayabusa because of my family. I tried different HDs and was disappointed. Then I tried the bobber and fell in love with how comfortable, good looking and powerful enough it is. But the tech features were like 20yo model. Definitely need to try a new one.
Based on looks, Indian has my money. The power the Sportster has over the Indian is not a deal breaker when you take into account that they are cruisers. Plus, it is not that much of a difference.
I'm not a cruiser guy, but a 101 with mid controls would be the closest thing since the HD XR1200 to what I'd find to be a cruiser I'd have any interest in.
Absolutely love the look of the 101, but at 6’1” I feel like my options are between the Chief and Low Rider S to be able to fit comfortably. Hopefully they’ll have the 101 around for some demos though!
I agree. Even if I were a rich man spending 20k+ on a MOTORCYCLE is way too expensive. For petes sake you can get a new car for that money! Even if motorcycles are considered luxuty items and even if they have a lot of (unnecessary) tech in them, there is way too much air in that price they are asking.
The scouts been better than the sportster since it came out. I had a sporty 1200 with a cam and a 1250 kit with new fork springs stiff oil and shocks to jack up the rear a little to match. The scout basically blows it away engine wise and with some taller shocks and a spring kit for the forks to bring the bike up an inch or two it’d whoop booty. It’d also basically be an ftr I just realized but that’s beside the point
Totally agree with you, My favorite one its also the Amazing Scout Classic, Truly love that Spectacular Cruiser!!!, Great explanation and video as well, Thanks for sharing 🤘✌️👊!!!
I love the scout line and the New Standard Bobber with less electronics is a must have for me. Harley should offer OPTIONS on FOOT CONTROLS... I sat on the Sportster S and it should have mid or rear foot controls. I like that the Indian New bobber has a lot less electronic "Bells and Whistles". Indian liquid cooling and the Triumph bobber both you do not see the radiator so much... good on all these NEW scouts. less electronic "Bells and Whistles" is a strong selling point for me.
Definitely better looking with the 2 into 1 exhaust, Harley Davidson doesn't appear to understand styling, with that clunky exhaust on what's supposed to be sporty. These scouts have me seriously considering buying one. I like the model with the full rear fender, and the touring model. The longer suspension travel hopefully smooths the ride quality out.
Judging by sales alone, Harley is the clear winner. More than 100,000 Harleys left North American dealerships last year, and the company earned almost $6 billion in revenue. Indian sold about 30,000 bikes last year, placing it outside the top five makers in U.S. market share.
Just bought a leftover 2023 Indian Scout Bobber Twenty in maroon metallic. Couldn't pass up the promos Indian and the dealership gave me. Beautiful bike..not too mad they just announced a completely new platform but I'm glad they didn't slap a new fairing on the original and give it a new name.
Like you, I was not expecting such a big update and was very pleasantly surprised. I'd go for the 101 as it just looks so good! Plus, the suspension on it is already upgraded, which is probably the first thing one should do on a Scout. They are amazing bikes except for the stock shocks. Really liking the new frame as it looks so old school classy.
I love the scout but I'm 6'3 and I kind of dwarf it. I'd like a chief but there's no liquid cooled, I think I'll still give the scout another test drive.
The prior scout was outstanding, im honestly pretty surprised theyve stepped it up, but glad. Theyre not for me, but damn, they're really nice. The Bobber is gorgeous.
@Different Spokes TV: Thank you for this video! I agree, in my perception Indian nailed it with the new Scouts. 5 different models right off the bat, all of them very desirable the gorgeous 101 at the top. Another bad news for HD (at least in the EU market) is the R12 from BMW. At first I percepted the R12 a bit like a Grandpa's R nineT, but that perception has changed completely. The new R12 platform seems to be promising. What we already know is that we'll see a R 12 GS. But this time a "serious" GS in contrast to its predecessor. The RevMax platform is in its 4th year now. Neither have we seen any significant improvements on the existing models nor any new models. Pan Am sales in the EU never were convincing and dropped 70% in 2023 compared to 2022. I've not seen a Nightster on the road yet, no joke. The Sportster S did very good in the first year. Everyone thought of it as a great one off fan service on the RevMax platform. The most important model was the Bronx. Like no brainer. It's really kind of bizarre, even the 3 LifeWires do a better job than the RevMaxes.
Yes, I've seen plenty of Scouts but no Nightsters or Sportster Ses. No Pan Ams either. They are just not doing well. The R12 finally got it right after the R18 got it very wrong.
I love the heritage, but take away the badge and I feel they could easily be a Suzuki or Kawasaki - to me it's a pretty generic looking water cooled twin. So happy they improved the ground clearance though
They are smart to keep a few of the old models at that 10k price point. HD has nothing at that entry level pricing. I see tons of scouts on the road, they are basically buying these now that the ironhead sportsters are discontinued. Dumb move by HD to get rid of those.
I think I would try to get a HD Fat Bob, but if I couldn’t, the Scout family is more tempting than the Sportster. Would get mine with bags and windshield
I'd take the Classic with the limited tech pack. Way way better looking than the so called Sporty. Honestly I'd buy it over a Street Bob just on looks.
I sat on the previous models & these look similar in riding position. With the pegs so far forward I felt folded in half when reaching for the bars. Even with the more pulled back ones. Combined with the super low seat it just felt all wrong, & not conducive to comfort or control. They look great, but don't work for me.
The 101 does have a 111hp but it's still 10hp short of the sportster s and 10ft lbs of tq lower than the Sportster S. This 101 is also 50lbs heavier than the S and has less lean angle capability. Pretty rough being that it comes in at the same price as the S. Then the now bigger gas tank? Yes, it's 0.1 gallon bigger than the older Scout.
Yeah but you get to ride a nice looking bike... also with a couple of upgrades, those 10's vanish pretty quick. Sportster S is... another ugly HD mess imo.
I don't think Indian Motorcycle imagined that the Scout would have more power than the Sportster S. Indian's "Sportster Sport" is the FTR (Indian Motorcycle's "sportsbike") - Anyway: The new Scout is beautiful in contrast to the lumpy "radiatorised" hose chaotic, exposed wire, nothing quite fit together, cheap looking. A and B sided product of the competitor. Speaking of course: Sportster/Nightster. I've owned 5 Harley-Davidsons, one of which was a V-Rod muscle... So I'm not a brand hater. The V-Rods are Miles better looking than the liquid-cooled bikes Harley is putting out these days. A modern V-Rod muscle ... Imagine the Revolution Max engine in that one?
Forget the Sportster, it kinda looks better than the Sport Chief which imo is the king atm and the 101 offers everything at a cheaper price and it has adjustable front shocks and TC and weighs alot less
So Mike Dougherty, President for Indian. said the Scout is the top-selling platform and the new models and accessories are targeted at "creating a wider riding community". I guess the question is will this line up actually expand its market share? And, why not introduce the Scout 60 models to demonstrate the breath of the Scout brand and provide a low price point? Indian makes outstanding products but their marketing strategy and dealer network is questionable.
I hope they bring out updated Scout 60s as well. These are definitely pricey but Indian could crush Harley in this segment by offering better value and a wider range, which they are right now.
Nice bikes but the 13l fuel tank is not really suitable for touring...actually quite ridiculous, just made for showing off at the street cafe around the corner...
Very nice bike… but once again clearly not affordable for most of us. It will cost north of 25K in canada for a decently equipped bike and that’s not considering financing and possible markup by the dealer… For this price (and sometime for much less…) all manufacturers can sell you a very good bike… Example : the Honda rebel 1100 is 10K cheaper and is certainly a nice alternative. So I will keep this new scout on my radar but will not make a move until I have more info on the rest of the 2025 models.
Yeah personally I prefer the old Scout over the new Sportster. Hope they make a new version of the Scout 60 because I'd rather have a low price than a super powerful engine
Not to mention the cost of insurance. In my area, a bike over 1000cc costs over 3 times as much to insure, than a bike under 1000cc. That’s why I think the Nightster Special is the best of both worlds
I know one thing, the scout is wayyyy better looking than the cartoon looking sportster. I'll keep my '23 117 Low Rider S. Power, looks, handling. Very happy man.
I just can't get into water-cooled motorcycles, no matter what the brand. To me, they just don't look or sound good. Performance might be their strength, but that just doesn't rank all that highly for me. Much prefer the looks, sound, and feel of air/oil cooled bikes and will stubbornly stay with them to the end - mine or theirs. My ride is a sportster 1200 and I love her and I don't look at anyone else. Not even tempted, thank you.
The 101 looks Amazing, it'll blow that Ugly Nightster out of the water. H-D needs to bring back the XLCR with the 1250 Engine. And if the Bronx comes back, use the 1250 Engine as well, Polaris just up'ed the Game !!
Great video 👍 In my humble opinion the new Sportsters are ugly and a million miles away from what a Sportster should be. The Super Scout is the one for me!
When you see the left side of lc Harley engines, and compared that with triumph or Indian lc engines... my God... Hd should just have made a 1000cc sportster with a smaller m8 engine and 6 gears, basically a smaller street bob with a sportster gas tank on it... But no.
I dont know man the prices on these make me just want to get the real thing (hd) am disappointed indian didnt try the lower price angle instead gave us $1 worth of tech and stick to the high proces.. maybe the sixty will be the “one”
@@DifferentSpokesTV hard to beat the hondas 500,1100 and the new royal enfields man. Personally i would spend 10-11 on an indian but maybe so on a harley and my friends that are back to riding after a few years seem to be comfortable spending under 10 grand
Love the looks but a fuel tank under 5 gal puts it in the urban city bike category which makes it great in the looks department but useless at least for my consideration.
I'll never understand why cruisers command such a price premium. It's laughable that the Scout 101 costs more than a Speed Triple RS, despite making only 111 hp.
Yeah I dont understand. I daily ride a beautiful bike. New it is more powerful, lighter, has a better lean angle, and cost thousands less with better brakes and better tech just as a final kick to the groin. Can someone less than 40 explain to me why anyone would choose this over a naked bike like my Kawi Z900?
It’s how they feel, my wife’s Kawai is faster and can corner but…it just doesn’t feel like my Chief, they rumble, and the torque is something to be had- I just like motorcycle in general but a steel diesel truck on 2 wheels is fantastic for cruising anywhere
It's just personal taste, the feel, and for some, nostalgia. I agree with you (and I'm in my 50's) that I would never buy an Indian or HD cruiser. If I had to get a big bagger, I'd pay MUCH less for a Kawa Vaquero, or even a gold wing (granted gold wing doesn't compare to these scouts, but you get the point).
Also Z900 has a power to weight ratio of about 1:3.52 after modified. Makes the argument more difficult. That's equivalent to a Mustang GT making 1,062 wheel horsepower. And the Z900 will run much longer than any owner will ever keep it.
I’m 26 and choose to ride a scout over a sport bike because of the sense of Americana, cultural nostalgia, and overall enjoyment of the ride I partake in every time I get on and leave my driveway. I don’t have an interest in going 180 MPH weaving through traffic or paying money to use a local race track. I make the country roads and byways my journey. Many people think that performance, lean angle, and ludicrous speed is the key to enjoyment on a motorcycle and that’s fine, but for me it’s the enjoyment of being in the wind cruising on a bike the rest of the world aside from America deems a one trick pony. Sure my bike may be just that, a bike that’s greatest ability is to go fast in a straight line, but our country is one of the biggest in the world and there’s so much room out in the countryside to do just that. The countries your motorcycle and many like it are manufactured and produced are very small in comparison and that is why (in my opinion) they are designed to go around curves that may be more common in a crowded environment such as European or Asian countries. I’m not saying your bike isn’t meant to be ridden in America, all I’m saying is that it’s more suited to drive around in crowded places, or a racetrack. Cruisers are the just another example of why America is different than the rest of the world, and I embrace that difference. I hope this helps, peace. ✌️
One of the reasons why people never branch out and try new experiences: "don’t have an interest in going 180 MPH weaving through traffic or paying money to use a local race track." Has nothing whatsoever to do with modern naked sports bikes.
It is more and more obvious that I am not a member of the target demographics that Indian and H-D are hoping to attract. While these new Scouts are an improvement with their tucked in radiator and much better looking frame, they still do NOT appeal to me. and that PRICE!? And , just to be clear, Harley does not offer anything that I like. either. Guess I''ll just keep riding my '03 Road King, '10 King Pin, and my '06 Roadster. Or, maybe that Royal Enfield Super Meteor that I test rode last Fall isn't a bad option, either. I'll ride over to the Sturgis Indian dealer and check these out. Maybe, in person, they will strike my eyes differently. But I doubt it.
They not crushing the Sportsters. They are just same ridiculously priced entry level bikes. Looks department is subjective. Although I personally like Scouts better. But neither will sell in any considerable numbers. And it would be funny if they just go the way of Victory one day. I don't see that many on roads honestly. I've only seen one Scout out in a wild since they started making them.

Yes, a Classic with bags and a windshield might be the perfect Scout.
I'm switching from Hayabusa because of my family. I tried different HDs and was disappointed. Then I tried the bobber and fell in love with how comfortable, good looking and powerful enough it is. But the tech features were like 20yo model. Definitely need to try a new one.
Ex Busa rider here and I also want the Indian Scout 101 Looks sweet!!!
Based on looks, Indian has my money. The power the Sportster has over the Indian is not a deal breaker when you take into account that they are cruisers. Plus, it is not that much of a difference.
The Indian is also heavier with less lean angle
@@shanethedestroyerone is a cruiser the other is a sportster
The sportster s is more comparable to the ftr
I'll stick with my Iron 1200.
My 883 is my 20th bike and most likely my last bike after 57 years of riding
Loads of character and ride well too.
Great video bud, always wanted to have an 883 here in the UK but not to practical but the basic scout I think I could live with and looks cleaner too
Great looking bike. I love how Indian keeps Harley on it's toes to compete with one another. This makes all bikes better year after year!!
Yep, I'm sure Harley will expand its Sportster line after this.
I'm not a cruiser guy, but a 101 with mid controls would be the closest thing since the HD XR1200 to what I'd find to be a cruiser I'd have any interest in.
Mid controls is the way!!! I don't understand why people want to lay back on any bike, I just don't get it.
Absolutely love the look of the 101, but at 6’1” I feel like my options are between the Chief and Low Rider S to be able to fit comfortably. Hopefully they’ll have the 101 around for some demos though!
Great looking bikes... But since I just got a 23 Chieftain Elite, I'm not exactly in the market.
Super Scout for me. Beats any of the current Sportsters hands down IMHO. Thanks for the video.
Good choice! Thanks for the comment!
I'm old, can buy what I want, wouldn't spend $15-20k on a bike, ever. Well, maybe a real 1200Sporty, but those are gone....
Tons of them on the used market and they may be classics someday.
I don't think I have a place for a cruiser in my life sadly, but if I had I would definitely go Sport or 101. They are gorgeous!
Yeah, you can do anything to a Sportster. However, you have to do a lot to make it perform.
Totally agree with you, My favorite one its also the Amazing Scout Classic, Truly love that Spectacular Cruiser!!!, Great explanation and video as well, Thanks for sharing 🤘✌️👊!!!
Indian has alway been cooler than Harley
3.4 gallons? I guess they know people aren’t going to ride them very far!
That's more than the old models. I guess big tanks aren't stylish.
Thanks for this! Indian has always been on my list, this maybe the time to move on one! I have always thought Indian Styling was better than HD’s.
Thanks for the comment. In the past I liked the Sportsters better but that has flipped lately.
Judging by sales alone, Harley is the clear winner. More than 100,000 Harleys left North American dealerships last year, and the company earned almost $6 billion in revenue. Indian sold about 30,000 bikes last year, placing it outside the top five makers in U.S. market share.
I agree the Indian Scout‘s look and feel great! They are killing it💪🏻 Still got myself the „garbage“ Nightster last week.
The current one is still really good. Alumimum frame is sketchy but clearly its possible
Yep, there are going to be some deals to be found on last year's models.
Totally agree! I rode a Bobber once and needed a chiropractor afterwards.
@@DifferentSpokesTV Haha, same here. If I was shorter, the Scout would be a top choice
Just ordered my scout 101. So pumped!
That scout 101 looks beautiful
I love the scout but I'm 6'3 and I kind of dwarf it. I'd like a chief but there's no liquid cooled, I think I'll still give the scout another test drive.
Personally I'd rather have the old Sportster than either....
The prior scout was outstanding, im honestly pretty surprised theyve stepped it up, but glad. Theyre not for me, but damn, they're really nice. The Bobber is gorgeous.
I really wish they'd put the challenger motor on a chief
I think there was an updated Springfield and Chieftan sometime ago… Victory!
@Different Spokes TV:
Thank you for this video!
I ride a Chief 111 bobber, so my choice would be the Scout classic in black
They are smart to keep a few of the old models at that 10k price point. HD has nothing at that entry level pricing. I see tons of scouts on the road, they are basically buying these now that the ironhead sportsters are discontinued. Dumb move by HD to get rid of those.
The previous scout looks just a bit off to me, but this new one nails the look perfectly!
I like the Super Scout!! I wish it were more affordable, though.
Yep. The Rouge 60 is the more affordable version.
Good video, thank you.
Thank you too!
They are putting effort. Amazing.
If I had the money to throw, would get the 101.
I think I would try to get a HD Fat Bob, but if I couldn’t, the Scout family is more tempting than the Sportster. Would get mine with bags and windshield
I have a HD Fat Bob and it will smoke just about any bike out there.
I really like that 101
That 101 is 🔥🔥🔥🤗🔥🔥🔥
Scout classic if I were to get one (I'm not- Happy with my Tiger 900). Classic has the best looks to me.
Yep, ADV bikes can do everything all other bikes can do.
Thanks for another great video. I must say, they are nice looking bikes. :)
Glad you like them!
Hats off to Indian on this new bike. Beast of a looker !
I share your concern about Indian cutting the Sixty, their entryway
There's going to be reliability issues for sure, the latest old models still had plenty of issues
Definitely a superior bike 🥸
The new 101 is calling to me. I'm still not over the fact that HD won't release the Bronx, so any sporty cruiser is appealing to me.
They should release the Bronx in a 1250.
It's a horrible riding position... There's a reason used scouts for sale are plentiful
Yeah, the cruiser position is not for everyone. My wife much prefers ADV bikes or standards while I'm good with all bikes.
I simply like it
Personally, I wouldn’t buy either the Indian nor the Harley but I think the Harley is the better looking of the two.
Good points. I think looks and style wise the 101 will appeal to more people though. And it looks to have better wind protection.
That 101 Scout 😍
$14k US sounds good for the red Classic. Fortunately, I don't have any more room. That's an Indian I could own.
Nice bikes but the 13l fuel tank is not really suitable for touring...actually quite ridiculous, just made for showing off at the street
cafe around the corner...
Very Nice
Very nice bike… but once again clearly not affordable for most of us. It will cost north of 25K in canada for a decently equipped bike and that’s not considering financing and possible markup by the dealer… For this price (and sometime for much less…) all manufacturers can sell you a very good bike… Example : the Honda rebel 1100 is 10K cheaper and is certainly a nice alternative. So I will keep this new scout on my radar but will not make a move until I have more info on the rest of the 2025 models.
It looks great to me.
wasnt sportster discontinued?
Indian hit a home run!
That's what cruisers are all about.
I know one thing, the scout is wayyyy better looking than the cartoon looking sportster. I'll keep my '23 117 Low Rider S. Power, looks, handling. Very happy man.
Nice to see that there is still an american brand that sees the importance of styling a cruiser properly. No, not meaning HD...
Very good review.
Thanks!
Yeah, I miss my old 1200. In a few years I might get one of the air cooled Chiefs.
The 101 looks Amazing, it'll blow that Ugly Nightster out of the water. H-D needs to bring back the XLCR with the 1250 Engine. And if the Bronx comes back, use the 1250 Engine as well, Polaris just up'ed the Game !!
I have a feeling that this will elicit a response from Harley.
@@DifferentSpokesTV
For sure, they have to, to compete
The new scout 101 nice. The rest of them stink when compared to the sportster s or any of Harleys soft tails though.
New Scouts look SICK
Harley killed off the Sportster when they came out with their Honda Rebel clones! Ish!
Great video 👍 In my humble opinion the new Sportsters are ugly and a million miles away from what a Sportster should be. The Super Scout is the one for me!
You may have nailed this one.😄
Thanks!
Holy shit it’s basically the victory octane but $5k more!
And now I want a scout again, or maybe I need a chief cuz I’ve had a scout
When you see the left side of lc Harley engines, and compared that with triumph or Indian lc engines... my God... Hd should just have made a 1000cc sportster with a smaller m8 engine and 6 gears, basically a smaller street bob with a sportster gas tank on it... But no.
Agreed that they are better, but sportsters look way better.
Just curious, when was your last eye exam?
To me the old EVO Sportsters looked good but the new ones are not meeting that standard.
@@DifferentSpokesTV agreed
I dont know man the prices on these make me just want to get the real thing (hd) am disappointed indian didnt try the lower price angle instead gave us $1 worth of tech and stick to the high proces.. maybe the sixty will be the “one”
I hope they update the 60s and keep them between 10-11K.
@@DifferentSpokesTV hard to beat the hondas 500,1100 and the new royal enfields man. Personally i would spend 10-11 on an indian but maybe so on a harley and my friends that are back to riding after a few years seem to be comfortable spending under 10 grand
Pretty 😍Indians for sure👏👍👍
Love the looks but a fuel tank under 5 gal puts it in the urban city bike category which makes it great in the looks department but useless at least for my consideration.
If you're touring you'll stop more often than you'd like. But you can still get 160-200km out of a tank.
Needs more fuel capacity!
If I were a young guy looking to buy a new bike, I’d look at Royal Enfield.
If that's all you can afford, sure.
If I were an OLD guy looking for a new bike, i'd buy a Royal Enfield !!
I'll never understand why cruisers command such a price premium. It's laughable that the Scout 101 costs more than a Speed Triple RS, despite making only 111 hp.
Yamaha Bolt R-Spec $8,899.
One of the reasons why people never branch out and try new experiences: "don’t have an interest in going 180 MPH weaving through traffic or paying money to use a local race track."
Has nothing whatsoever to do with modern naked sports bikes.
Nice collection of bikes. Your garage is not lacking, that's for sure.
Interesting. Here in Canada I'm seeing more Indians and that includes plenty of Scouts. I live in a denser populated area though.
