The baffle is there to reduce splashing, but you have to stick the end of the fuel nozzle through the hole in the baffle in order to make it work. Both of my bikes have that baffle: a Kawasaki and a Honda.
That boot-up was excruciating. I'm really interested in some of the Indians, but I'd reject a bike based on that alone. What a rotten quirk. It's like my Windows XP machine, but what I really want instead of a rolling computer network (no matter how fast it boots up) is a real motorcycle.

I bought an Indian 2025 Scout 101 about a month ago and those 5 issues are agreeable. They are minor really and easily adjustable workarounds. Exhaust is an issue with ALL motorcycles after 2023 as all of these restrictions. I will upgrade the exhaust very soon. Regarding the bootup time on the LCD screen, I now I press the side start button, get my helmet on, gloves on, sit down and by that time it is ready to go, then press start engine on the handlebar. On my 1st fill-up up I noticed the fuel fill-up issue as gas went everywhere, ugh. Now I put in the gas at about 1/2 speed and WATCH it and no spills now. Its only 3 gallons so it fills up quick. I have had no problems with it stalling but that idle does seem rough even after my 500-mile break-in service. On the flip side, I have many reasons why I like it too. BTW, after 6 days of sitting (was on vacation) my battery went dead and the dealership swapped it out, but that seemed odd for a brand new motorcycle. I went ahead and upgraded to an Antigravity ATX20 RE-START Lithium Battery. I also plan on adding on some Viking hard leather saddlebags.
I came from sport bikes (over 20 years and easily 10+ super sport bikes) and still have my 2021 Kawi ZX10R KRT. It is nice to have a cruiser and a sport bike for different types of riding.
Next Year my next cruiser upgrade will be the Indian Chieftain Dark Horse or the Indian Challenger.

I think in my owners manual I read you’re supposed to let it warm up for 30 secs or maybe it was 5 minutes.
I don’t care to reread the whole 200+ pages but it was worth it to know what needs to be serviced/inspected/replaced so you don’t get shafted at a dealer.
I also am from the camp of “ride it hard” and never had any problems with any of my Yamahas from the R3, to 6, to 1 for 20k+ miles each bike with just oil changes and regular wear and tear items being replaced.
This bike makes me nervous cause the break in period says like 1/4 throttle for 100 miles, half throttle for up to 250, and 3/4 throttle til 500 miles(your 1st service). I’m sure ALL manufacturers state something similar but this is the 1st one I paid attention to and want to baby it for some reason.
Then after that you can WOT and unleash the beast. But man during this break in period coming from sport bikes this machine has been underwhelming for me.
For a sub 20k machine, I expected more.

@@vizzle89 so I’m post break in period and it’s back at the dealer with stalling issues. So I’m not impressed, and I’m an army mechanic by trade, so I pay attention to all the groans and moans the bike makes. Sport mode is fun, will play with stock 600s but the issues such as boot up screen and the stalling (11 times at stops and red lights, once when downshifting in motion, all clutch fully depressed) is making me regret this nearly 30K CAD purchase due to safety reasons

@@StreetPilots Yeah that's unfortunate that at stop lights you're getting random stalls. It hasn't happened to me but that's the gremlins of every early adopter of the new generation of anything.
I do get random Check Engine Lights here and there but they usually sort themselves out.
I'm 1100miles so far on the bike with no major issues. I broke one of the drain plugs during the 1st service but that only costed me $25usd and a ride to the local dealership. If anyone else is servicing their own machines, please pay attention to the torque specs, the drain plug is 15lbs(I'd say only use 12lbs depending on your wrench).

I took one of these for a test ride multiple times and was not impressed, especially considering the price. The screen issue obviously I experienced as well, the seat is attrociously uncomfortable, I didn't like the clutch and brake feel, the stock exhaust is just pitiful (not looking) the way it sounds. I was very disappointed, maybe my expectations are too high idk. I found bikes half the price that were more comfortable, the stock sound and feel of the motor was better as well as better brake and clutch feel and better riding suspension. Things the bike has got going for it that are good are the styling and fit and finish which are superb and the motor if you ring it out is pretty quick. I actually rode the sportster s from Harley after and I liked that bike a lot better, the motor and everything just was smoother and felt better but it didn't have the fit and finish of the Indian. I wanted to like the Indian more but just didn't turn out that way for me and if paying over $17k I don't want to have to pay thousands more to make the bike up to what it should be stock. Before indian came out with this model, I bought 2024 Scout Rogue, and I'm dealing with the warning light sign ⚠️ it randomly shows up. Sometimes, when I'm riding, I check the owners manual and research the internet, and there's no clear answer it only says chassis fault but up to this day I don't really know what does that mean, does anyone here is dealing with something similar?!

Had a 22' Chief that had startup problems and an intermittent issue where the screen would lock up randomly. As well as a host of other issues. Unacceptable for bikes in this price point. Fast forward... I don't have the bike anymore.

@@StreetPilotsIndian offered a buyback but it was only a good deal towards another Indian. I would've still taken some sort of a hit... If they just bought it back I'd be in the hole a few more k. At the end of the day they "fixed it" but after the bike went back to the dealer almost 15 times, I was over it. By the 15th or so time they got everything going except for things that were universal issues. Fork noise, Intermittent starting and dash board randomly locking out for a few seconds to sometimes several minutes.
The kicker is I got the analogue tach to avoid possible infotainment issues, but no matter which version you get they all communicate the same. The analogue dash takes a minute to get all the way off the ride mode screen then at the moment when you wanted to change ride modes it would lock out
I found another bike I liked somewhere else and got a good trade on the new bike.
All in all the customer service was very good. Since the final issues had no fix, They did everything they could've done... Except offer me all my $$ back. 😂
Sad really, I was a former Scout owner and that bike was solid. The Chief was my dream bike. At the time I bought it was during the supply chain issues so I had 6mo. wait. What a bust. Anyway, loving the bikes I have now... I really love Indian bikes but with the new ones having sooo much tech under the hood, I'm shying away for a little bit.
I made some videos on everything on my channel if you care to check em out.

This is just an opinion from one man who's been riding on the street 54 years now and still riding. I can tell you why I don't like either this or any of the new Harleys either. The engineers that designed them evidently don't ride in the rain, on dirt roads with gravel and rocks or bad weather. They stopped putting proper fenders on them. I live in Florida, and most of us down here including myself ride year round. You wouldn't catch me on one of these.

@StreetPilots the video is titled "5 things that are wrong with my scout 101". This title implies that there are 5 things wrong with your motorcycle. The screen booting issue you mentioned is not an error with the bike, that's how the bike was made. I think you should rethink your video titles because this one was clearly not accurate. It would also help you stop getting views like mine. A title such as "quirks I have found on my bike I dislike" would be far more accurate.
