- The Pittsburgh Steelers held their pre-NFL Draft press conference and Omar Khan gave some interesting answers. But is he telling the truth? Chris Carter and Alan Saunders examine Khan's words to see if the team really doesn't want to trade down in the first round, whether they're ACTUALLY fine at center and wide receiver, and what the real plan might be?

Over the 5 years Arthur smith has been an OC his #2 WRs have averaged only 40 targets, 500 yards and 2 TDs all season. You’re telling me Van Jefferson, Cordarrellle Patterson, Quez Watkins or CA3 can’t accomplish that? WR is not a Must Have pick. I would like to see them draft a WR like Rice or Mccaffery in the later rounds.

Yards means nothing actually 1 good wr just means your number 1 will do nothing becouse you have no other threats. Dumb fans do not unstand that a good wr even if he gets 1 yard can majorly effect a teams coverage
BS, people that think that don't understand the game, without a legit #2 WR this team wont win 6 games. You have to pass the ball to score in this league, its not 1970 anymore,smh
Without a legit #2 WR the season is done before it started, Pickens will be doubled every game and the box will be stacked, wanting to run the ball doesnt work if the defense wants to stop it, period., do you understand that? Rice and McCaffery are number 4 WRs at best next season. A wide receiver drafted beyond the third round has about a 15 percent chance to ever be a starter in the NFL....you just dont get it. They will draft a WR round 2 ....bank on it, get back to me if i am wrong, but i wont be, just watch son. Some of you people are just so ignorant, its pathetic. They will either trade for a WR or draft at least 1 by day 2, and more than likely 2 wrs not 1.

One reason I'm not ruling out seeing Herbig or Daniels at center next year is that making a change there is a *lot* scarier in-season than between seasons.
The center from Arkansas is a nfl starting center 6,5,1/2. 329 lbs 34,1/2 armsout standing run blocker
This is an incredibly rare deep center class. There is absolutely no need to trade up or down to reach for one, but I like that they will be much more open to moving around than before. Another solid draft solidifies contention chances over the next few years.
Looking at that board provided I would draft 1. AD Mitchell 2. Sainristil 3. Van Pran 4. Paul just based on the value I see there.
Alan you answered your own question Mason Cole was released not bc of salary but his play..
I don't think there feeling pressure to trade up or down.they have scouted so many players.so what ever player is available to them that has the highest grade they would be comfortable with that.but if another proposes a trade beneficial for both teams they might pull the trigger

Trading back from 20 makes trading up from 51 much easier without sacrificing the extra 3rd rounder, which they probably need if they want to address their 4 main needs (RT, C, WR, CB)
Dont forget glover from Howard University hes huge long athletic and very powerful tackle
I agree Frazier is the top center and i personally like Sedrick Van Pran-Granger better than JPJ and it's because i feel like JPJ is injury prone and Van Pran-Granger started at center for 3 years in the toughest conference in college football.

Steelers have lots of needs other than just Center. WR is another position looking real thin. They of course have need at tackle to compliment B.Jones on the opposite side. They also need a CB so what to do? Not enough picks to fill all their needs with pro bowlers or day 1 starters. I'm hopeful they select tackle round 1 if it's the right guy. Would be sweet if Frazier slides to 51 but even if he's gone, there will still be a quality player sitting there. I hope they do what they always do... choose BPA at position of need. In Kahn we trust.

There be centers in 3rd that can play unlike tackle we either take high tackle or we running dan moore left jones right. If you think for 5 seconds tomlin will start two oline rookies then you on crack he refused to start 1 most last year until injurys.
They picked Kendrick green..hope not.They might go down the same rabbit hole. It all starts to protect the qb and run the ball, the ball won't get thrown to anyone if the qb and rb is on their back.

Some how get Harrison, need a WR and I disagree with the narrative the Steelers are exceptional at drafting late round WRs we are 50/50 at best.

I believe Khan is really smart. So expect they will get their Center…in 1st or 2nd round.

SMH Barton is the target and has been the entire time. Tired of hearing about a guy that played 8 damn games in college football and in those 8 games he did play, he got injured in 4 of them.

@@kenpoman1 I ranked BOTH below Fautanu. I said all along that TACKLE was the move. Not center. I also said they would take either Fuaga or Fautanu over Barton.
Barton was the smokescreen. People swore they were going center but the FO was confident a top OT would fall, and one did. As I’ve reported they planned to do for months on this show.
