Russ can spread the ball around. I would love for them to keep the opposing defense guessing by constantly targeting different receivers and not worry who is WR #2
@alexallegood1040 If he can learn from Russ and progress then I would be ok with that, but Justin NEEDS to learn a few things and take a step forward. Mainly, he needs to learn how to read the defensive schemes better AND protect the football

The “glaring needs”? Yeah, I don’t get this CB/WR narrative. Just signed a player to guard other teams’ #2 and we have 12 WRs on the roster? IMHO, our biggest glaring needs were at QB, C and OC. Those were corrected, at least on paper. And again, I’ve said this before, what’s the expected ROI for a #2 WR in this offense? 5 catches? 6 catches? 3-7 targets? Are we saying Wilson or Jefferson or Mims can’t do that? We gonna make a trade for a WR and we don’t even know how that player is gonna be utilized? We technically don’t even know how the schematics are going to work at this stage. We have an idea based on previous work but that’s assuming Smith hasn’t made any changes to his schemes and I don’t see how that’s possible, all good coaches adjust to personnel to a certain degree. Maybe I’m just ready for the season to start, for the offense not to leave the defense on the field for 70+ snaps a game, for it not to be the 9th or 10th game and listening to players talk about how they need to work on execution after a loss. I just think they have the players now to prevent those situations from happening.
The media & fans look at perceived "wins" & "losses" & GM's couldn't care less about that anymore than the media care about what GM's & fans think of them. They're the ones with the job & talent.

Why not fool teams with Rus and field like let Rus start the first two games then come back with field the next two they can't pair for the week cause you don't know who starting for the first half

But not sold on better Qb play Smith’s offense is a keep the chains moving for 3rd and short which opens up middle of the field passing if you watched the all 22 on the falcons the biggest problem with the offense was turnovers specially at the QBs position both these guys aren’t system QBs who use the middle of The field They turn the ball over and hold on to ball way to long leading to sacks! In a league where 70 percent of games are decided by a TD or less and come down to last 4 minutes 🤷♂️

I think I’m the only guy that’s not extremely excited for Arthur Smith…. As of now we have a piss poor WR room and AS claim to fame is to run the ball and play action? Dont get me wrong i would be an improvement over Matt Canada but tell me the last time a run first team won a SB? I hope im wrong but i just can’t get excited…. You got teams like SF, Philly, Chiefs, etc being innovative with play calling and than you have us saying we’re gonna run and do play action 🤷🏻
We are switching to a power offense. I don't don't think the receivers will get many targets, but the threat has to be there. I don't like Artie Smith, but we will see how he does.

I like to see good wide zone blocking with good RB vision for the one cut to the hole.
Bottom line if this Offense can win time of possession 35-25 minutes they can win games with Defense
