- The 2021Spring muscle car cruising season is upon us. Make sure you get those toys in tip top shape. Today I did some maintenance on my 1970 Ford Galaxie 500 fast back. This is a sports roof car with a 429 big block backed by a C-6 Trans and a Ford 9” rear end. The engine has been upgraded with a mild cam, weiand intake, edelbrock AVS650 carb, aftermarket electronic distributed, MSD6al box and coil, upgrades 140 amp alternator, champion 4 core aluminum radiator, dual electric Derale fans with controls, high volume milodon water pump, upgraded Holley fuel pump with regulator, new gas tank and lines, added fuel filter with dedicated vapor return line to cure the vapor lock issue, upgraded lowering springs at all four corners, new Bilstein 5500 series shocks with insulators, poly strut rod bushings, poly Sway bar bushings front and rear, flow master original 40 series mufflers. AEM wide band A/F gauge. Car runs and drives great and is perfect to pack my family and some friends into for a cruise to the local car meets or for a bite to eat.
Some mods I will be taking on this 2021 season and will be providing video on are:
1. Poly suspension and steering upgrades.
2. Rims and tires.
3. New mandrel bent dual exhaust system with electronic exhaust cut outs.
4. Fix/Rebuild the factory AC
5. Stereo system. Because I need something more than AM radio and the trunk space is to big to waste on a spare tire.
2022 Mods.
1. Power added. Centrifugal Blower. Procharger/Torquestorm etc.
2. Additional fuel system upgrades to support the power added.
I have a special love for these old and very large ford cars. I inherited this Galaxie 500 from my Dad when he passed away three years ago and I plan on driving this in his memory for a long time to come. You can see me on Long Island at many of the weekly car meets throughout the season and I’m always open to talk about all things car related. When I’m not wrenching and enjoying my Galaxie I’m either hanging with my family or wrenching on my 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo which is a post for another day.
I Hope you enjoy the audio/visual walk around of my big beauty. Get motivated, make the time to restore, modify, enhance these old rides because before you know it the time will pass us all by. Enjoy every minute with the ones you love while you can.

I had a 69 galaxie sport top with a 390 when I was 16. ❤
Videos never do justice for the actual sound. In person I’ll guarantee this thing is amazing.
Beautiful ol girl, thanks for sharing
Sounds very similar to my 429 in my 72' Mustang Grande, same mufflers!
That is the best sounding 429 I've ever heard.
Thank you Tony.
Good sounding 429 thunder jet
That is an awesome car
Thank you for the love.
Sounds awesome love the old Galaxys I used to own a 72' Thunderbird with a 429 powerful engines!!
I love the old thunderbirds. The big cars are awesome.
Love the throaty bass exhaust note of that Galaxie. I had the same 429 engine(365 hp.,10,5 compression in a1970 Ranchero Squire, with C-6 trans.
Beautiful car fella.
Thank you b
I own the same car I am restoring it what a beast
Great cars
I have a 1970 xl tunnel back 429 in black repairing the quarter panels this car is so powerful
Sounds sweet
Wow a 650 cfm carb. I have sbc 400 that really picked up from a 650 to 750 carb. Sounds good.
Your right. I have a twin Torqstorm supercharger system on order. Comes with an 850 blow through carp. Gonna bolt on 350 HP. I’m going to make some videos of the entire process. Also part of the upgrade I’m adding a custom set of FPA headers a Phantom dual electronic in-tank fuel pump, boost referencing adjustable fuel pressure regulator and new custom grind blower cam shaft. It’s going to be a totally different beast.
Beautiful
Masterpiece
Ok!I've been corrected,it was in mild rev.
Awesome!
Beautiful ! Nice job , tastefully done . How does it compare to Torino as far as weight and dimensions ?
The GVW in my car is 3700 lbs. It’s 18’-6” long but drives and handles way better with all of the suspension/tire/rim upgrades I have made.
@@70GalaxieMan I'm sure it does . Keep the pedal to the metal and the finger to the Man .
Cool....
Do you have aftermarket header on? If so can you share the link?
Where do you find parts for this vehicle I am rebuilding the 1970 Ford Xl Sportsroof and I’m looking for a front window and hood. I find all my parts on eBay but they hardly have parts for this car.
I have been very lucky with my car. It only has 70k original miles. Most of the hard to find parts on my car are in very good condition. If I had to find replacement parts I would check out the following stores. RockAuto, autokrafters, Galaxie parts.com, MACs automotive, EBAY, Amazon, Eaton Springs, jegs/summit for all the go fast parts and last but not least join the face book groups specific to our cars. Guys are always selling parts. Happy Hunting.
@@70GalaxieMan thank you I wanted to paint my vehicle that exact color but I’m indecisive to just keep the original yellow and black lol. Does your vehicle smoke a little before you drive it? Cause mine smokes in the morning before I take off but once I drive around it goes away.
@@clos6192 it does smoke a small amount right at start up but once it’s warm and the engine tightens up it runs smooth with no blow by.
@@70GalaxieMan yes mine as well I had a thought that because I have it rebuild but I was thinking it was blow by but I guess it just a Ford big block thing.
What can is in it in this video?
It has an RV torque style camshaft installed. Low end stump pulling power.
Rapid transit.
Check out my other videos. The Galaxie is now twin supercharged. Thanks for looking.
Lower the rom kick it
Nice car!way to fast of an idle though.
