Davies Craig Dual electric Fan switch control install on my Big Block powered Ford Galaxie 500.
My old electronic fan control relays finally failed. The previous relays and wiring was undersized for my Derale dual fan system. After some quick research I ended up purchasing a dual relay digital fan control switch with radiator probe from Davies Craig. When I unboxed the controls I immediately noticed how well made their product actually was. It was twice as heavy as my last two single relays. The specs state each relay is rated to handle 30amps per fan which makes it perfect to handle the 25amps each of my Derale fans draw. The relays are mounted together and within a very small footprint which made install under hood very easy. After cleaning up my wiring I mounted the unit in front...

DIY bead roller. Easy tubing bead roller hack from a pair of wire cutters. #fabrication #cars #hack

I learned about this bead roller hack when I was fabricating my intercooler and charge piping on my Ford Galaxie and Toyota Supra. Super easy to do. All you need is a pair of wire cutters. You prep and index the cutters so they can punch/crimp a bead into the end of the aluminum tubing your working with. Small bites into the tubing around the entire circumference of the tubing and your left wit...

    Working through my 71 LTD Convertible. Had to pull the motor as I damaged a cam bearing (and cracked it) when removing the factory cam. Tore the whole engine down prepping for the machine shop. In the meantime, I've been on the fence about a lot of upgrades. I want to go for a super stock build. So, no aggressive cam or, long tubes or high stall converter. I don't need this boat to compete with my 2015 Scat Pack. Thats my fast and fun car! Hopefully I can get bearings (cam, crank and maybe rods... The rod bearings didn't look bad, and the crank was almost flawless. Again, this engine isn't gonna be a ripper; It'll live its life under 4k RPM.

    Those are wire crimpers, aren't they? Can you give the brand name or where you bought them? They look like they might be Channel-locks. Did you cut off the end that has a wire cutter leaving just the crimper? Thanks.

    • @70GalaxieMan
      @70GalaxieMan 9 месяцев назад

      Yes. Those were channel lock brand. Ground off the cutting end. Then you have to grind/clearance the space between both jaws on the crumpet along with minor grinding at the wire crimping part of the cutters so when your looking at the cutters in the closed position you have at least a 1/16 gap to allow for the thickness of the aluminum. East and works excellent.

      The biggest obstacle will be the linkage and starter. If you can clear your factory linkage I know there are some aftermarket brackets and cables that will work. Lokar offers options.
