You may notice in the 1969 film, they show the luxury group interior as the standard LTD interior. But at some point, they cheapened the base LTD and gave it a Galaxie 500 interior (with some minor detail differences). They then called the former base LTD interior the luxury group interior, and made it an option. Country Squire station wagons always got the luxury group interior as standard.

Nice car, had a 70 LTD like that, have a 70 XL both 390s... Why the hell do you take something like that that has survived and then do burnouts? After all you've done with it, that's just total dumb.
my car has probably had an exhaust manifold leak for as long as I've been alive it'll buff when she starts running a little bit rough I just put some 110 octane in it and turn the timing up to 15°initial
Good thang, that you know how to tear this apart to fix it! WOW. It Would Cost A Fortune to take this to a garage and have a licensed mechanic do this job. MOSTLY All Labor! YICKES!..NO Matter how old they are, The Phrase FIX OR REPAIR DAILY STILL FITS!
A friend of mine’s dad bought an Ltd like that one They had to order it special because he wanted a three on the tree I’ll bet it was the only one built like that.
Three on the tree was the standard full size Ford transmission for 1970. I would occasionally see these manual shift big Fords driving around when I was young, although even then they were quite rare.
I bought a car like this with the same color from a police impound for $80. This was in 1987 and I was 16 yod. I think it had a 302. I burned up the c5 transmission and I junked the car.
Sadly, Irish Spring Soap doesn’t work. I’ve tried it and found that in addition to chewing holes like your car has in the headliner, the mice actually left chew marks on the Irish Spring soap I’d left in the car. Currently I’m trying one of those flashing light and sound devices. It seems to be working so far, but time will tell. I’ve also heard that oil of cloves may work, but I haven’t tried that yet. 🐁 🐭
Yeah the only thing that's worked to keep them away so far is poison, I've found 4 dead ones now. Not the ideal situation but it'll work for now, I've also seen that mint works very well as well! I'll try the cloves though, I haven't heard that one yet.
curious, was the fan shroud broke when you bought it or did you do that? those motors were famous for their fans breaking when running due to internal motor issues. that would explain why she was parked. bent pushrods parked alot of them. pushrods thru the intake...yeahhh....memories of those lol. hey, beautiful car and nice work.

The sports roof/fastback cars are pretty sought after, especially now. That'd be a good one to have back now! But the FE exhaust design is just so odd.

For me, it was just the top ones that gave me trouble and just the front two top ones that broke. The rest actually came out pretty nice when I could take them out with the air impact ;)
It wouldn't burn out like that cuz you got your foot on the brakes you have to let her go in and press the gas and see if it burns out. You can do these to the other cars we can try to do a burnout. @@dugganracecraft Mothballs do not work, I have had many cars that had mothballs in them that were covered in mouse shit and made into a nest. And the interior will smell of mothballs forever and that is not a pleasant odor to deal with. There are many different suggestions that people will make because they heard from someone who heard from someone that a particular thing will keep the mice out. I have yet to find anything that really does keep those little destructive pests out. And do NOT put any type of mice poison in the car as it just draws them in and then they will die in the car.

@@dugganracecraft I had a Galaxie 500 wagon, called the Country Sedan. I really miss it. Do your self a favor....replace all 16 exhaust manifold bolts, washers and nuts on the upper ones with Stainless Steel hardware from Lowe's. It will make the inevitable exhaust manifold gasket replacement job a 1 hour, no pressure pleasurable job, not a full weekend of Hell. Also, periodically tighten the starter cable nut on the starter - if it gets just a little loose it will not start and make the grinding sound like your starter is bad. Disconnect battery first. Yes, LTD, Custom 500 and Galaxie 500 were almost identical...but for the face. Also, install a clear, 5/16" fuel filter in the long line before fuel pump, underhood. You'll see if you're pulling rust. My 390 went well over 250k miles, like any old Ford V8 should. Any Mopar is good for that too. Just avoid Generic Motors' Chevrolet brand, unless you need blue smoke for mosquito control.
You're going to be replacing A LOT of parts on these old Fords. We had one when they were new. Look to change the starter solenoid, starter, brake master cylinder, alternator, points, condenser, A/C, etc. They all went bad before 50,000 and we lived in the south. They weren't joking about Fix Or Repair Daily (FORD). Granted, the cars were beautiful and big but the do require a lot of maintenance. But my Dad said, a far cry from the cars of the 30s-50s.
Youre not wrong! I know that when it was last driven it had the fuel system replaced (found notes in the glove box). But I've also replaced the starter, alternator (twice) as well as the muffler.
Back in the day all cars needed a lot of parts. I worked on all models back in the day. We had a saying in the garage business. Better to buy a car at 60000 miles than 40,000 because you had all those things to replace.... GM’s ate shocks and ball joints and idler arms. Fords as you mentioned. Dodge ballast resistors. Mufflers were regular maintenance like oil changes. But I loved those cars and still do.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN/TEBBVEN laws)
That’s truly unfortunate 🫤 I don’t know why they government’s offer the world need to do this. There’s so many repercussions from a decision like that.
I hate to tell all these imbeciles that want to ban combustion engines , it won’t work economically, they will bury the poor and middle class trying to convert to electric vehicles just so they have transportation , so much for reliable affordable transportation

@@dugganracecraft Be sure to check John McCarthy's 1969 and 1970 Ford sales training videos on you tube. The 1969 videos are in a way more interesting, because that was the first year of your body style and it was basically all new except for the engine and transmission and a few other components.
I daily mine everyday have deleted every day for the past 2 years and it is been from here to Maryland and back twice it will get you there
My parents had a new 1969 LTD. We went all over the country in this car in the 3 years and 76,000 miles that they had it.
That's awesome! I'm sure there were a lot of memories that came from that!
Nice crocs in the washing montage 😩
Thanks! I'm really trying to make a fashion statement!
That's a clean car man.
Thanks a lot!
Dope channel man ! Tuning in
Thanks man! I appreciate you. I subbed back!
this gets me tickled sorry you were sick man and I hope everything gets better cmon do a burnout
I would like a classic car
Wouldn’t we all!
My Dad bought one just like this-it was a nice car, but after a few years the trunk was completely rusted away-they did not do a good job with rust prevention-cool car!
Thank you, sir! I could definitely see it. This car has two little rust wholes in front of the rear wheels on the bottom side of the rocker on both sides. Thanks for watching!
I had a 72 LTD that had been my Grandpa's. It was the only car I ever had that I could sit in the driver's seat and my leg didn't touch the door.
Yeah, I loved that about this car! I'm 6'2" So leg room is key for me lol
Can confirm that if that burnout happened it was very smokey
It wasn’t me I swear lmao
My mother owned tons of LTDs they were bullet proof
I'd love to find another one, they're such great cars!
In The Very Early 1970s. My Next Door Neighbors had one of these cars. Same neighbors that my Late Grandpa bought me my st. car from them also. A 1966 Mercury Montery. 4 door with the back electric breeze way window. Only power option on that car.
and trust me I'm telling you dude I've gotten brand new alternators from the parts store and them not work so trust me it's not your fault it's a ford thing make sure you check your voltage dude because you will fry voltage regulators like crazy and if you for how old is regulator and don't know it you fry everything else
I would love to find a Ford Galaxie
I’m actively looking for a sports roof!
Nice car, had a 70 LTD like that, have a 70 XL both 390s... Why the hell do you take something like that that has survived and then do burnouts? After all you've done with it, that's just total dumb.
Because if it can’t handle it, then I don’t want it. 😘😉
YESSSSSSS BLOW THAT TIRE OFF SON HELL YEAH YOUR SICK MAN YOUR THE BOMB WELCOME WELCOME TO THE LTD FAMILY
welcome to LTD land my brother you have been initiated
sorry I just keep commenting as I'm watching your video bro I wish I could get a new gas tank because mine's probably worse than that one was 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I subscribed I respect you you know what you should have done when the valve varnishing just took her down the interstate 110mph it'll buff
you just don't know half the hell my car has been through
They are also notorious for stretching timing chains.
Hmmm, I've never heard that before. I learned something new today!
my car has probably had an exhaust manifold leak for as long as I've been alive it'll buff when she starts running a little bit rough I just put some 110 octane in it and turn the timing up to 15°initial
You're definitely not wrong! But yeah, labor would be killer on jobs like these!
A friend of mine’s dad bought an Ltd like that one
They had to order it special because he wanted a three on the tree
I’ll bet it was the only one built like that.
No kidding?! I know that it was an option but I'm assuming less than 1% of them came with a 3 on the tree. That'd be a good one to have back now!
Awe man, that's a steal! That'd be a good to be able to have back!
Come to find, the motor mounts were basically non-existent. So the motor was rocking and hitting the shroud with the fan.
😂🤣😂 This is what it might look like if it could do a smoky burnout 😂🤣😂 I laughed my ass off at that, I knew that u had to give it the old college try 😂🤣😂 while you were sleeping of course 😂🤣😂
Exactly! I’m glad you thought it was funny because when it originally happened I was laughing my ass off lol
@@dugganracecraft I bet you were totally havin a blast with that thing, my side would have been hurting 🤣😂
@@79beans347 you don’t even wanna know 😂 see the nice thing about having Covid is that I still can’t smell how bad it smells lmao
Cool car and I’m a Chevy guy
Thanks, Larry! I've got a video coming on the LTD in the very near future!
Very beautiful 70 Ford LTD. What's the plan for the LTD my brother.
I actually have a follow up video about the LTD on my channel, you should check it out!
@@dugganracecraft Alrighty sounds awesome
I HAVE THE 4 DOOR VERSION OF THIS CAR I SAW A FEW RED FLAGS IN THIS VIDEO
I have a 1970 Ford XL galaxie Sportsroof!
Lmk if you need help bro, it’s hard to find info on these cars, rare
And the Fe engines have a certain transmission specific or Fe, ps don’t get your shirt caught in the hood hinges lol
Thanks man, I appreciate you! I'm not going to lie to you, but my shirt has gotten caught once already lol
@@dugganracecraft nice man, this car is well worth it man, one of the last cars, value goes up everyday. My brother is doing RUclips as well (well barley kinda started) but, he works on my car and his car which is a 1984 Firebird that he’s building like a champ! I’m going to tell him to watch you bro no doubt, his is C-LosFink84. Keep it up👌
@@clos6192 definitely, I appreciate it! It’s hard getting going on RUclips for sure, but anyone can do it. The hardest step to take is the first one!
When I was 18 I tried to buy a ‘72 Galaxie but couldn’t get it done.
I highly recommend picking one up if you can, there are some that are decently affordable around right now!
My Sister had the XL Fastback version, Same color, Same Engine, The FE's are bad about Exhaust Manifold leaks and the bolts breaking off
The sports roof/fastback cars are pretty sought after, especially now. That'd be a good one to have back now! But the FE exhaust design is just so odd.
@@dugganracecraft On the last 390 I had I used Anti- Seize on all the exhaust manifold bolts, It seemed to work but those top bolts were still sticky coming out but they did
For me, it was just the top ones that gave me trouble and just the front two top ones that broke. The rest actually came out pretty nice when I could take them out with the air impact ;)
It wouldn't burn out like that cuz you got your foot on the brakes you have to let her go in and press the gas and see if it burns out. You can do these to the other cars we can try to do a burnout. When I have my cuda Howard hit the gas and then it'll burn out while I'm driving away not standing still
Oh she did big fat smoky burnouts!
Always wash from the top down.
I usually do, I was just getting the loose dirt off. I went back and washed it again off camera, I have a video on the way about buffing the car so be sure to tune back in!
every FE engine enthusiast watching this video watching you hit those original valve covers with a rubber mallet is just cringing 🤣🤣🤣but you go dude you got the ole ltd up and going hell my exhaust manifold leak sounds 10 times worse I would have just fixed the bent push rods and said to hell with it bo lmaoo
I like cars I might sub to you
Thanks! I appreciate you stopping by. If you like cars, that's all we do on this channel! Feel free to subscribe if my content seems like something you'd be interested in!
It’s a 390 motor correct I don’t think it’s a 428 yeah it’s a 390 either way it’s an FE Motor her the heads have to come off it’s a gimme
i do not think or believe for one second, that you talked to much, like one commontator said, i enjoyed very much hearing what you had to say!!
Thanks a lot, Tony! I really appreciate it.
Just subbed! Epic video
Thanks a ton! More content is on the way!
@@dugganracecraft np!
after this I'll stop blowing up the comments I love how you're just like hypothetically this is what it would look like if I did do a burnout as you're sitting in the driver's seat doing a burnout LMAOOO hell yeah hell yeah 🤣🤣🤣
No I appreciate the enthusiasm man lol thanks for watching the video! I have the follow up video to this one uploading now and should be live in the next hour or two!
Irish soap didn't work for me I use mothballs every 6 months works real good
I’ll have to try that!
And do NOT put any type of mice poison in the car as it just draws them in and then they will die in the car.
do you still own this Ford?
I don't unfortunately! I made a follow up video to this one, it's on my channel. It went back to the original family!
@@dugganracecraft thanks for the reply. This was the exact vehicle and color that I first drove, sitting in my father's lap as a boy. Great memory. Thought maybe it would be available. Thanks again
It's an LTD, not a Galaxie 500.
Correct, but they were nearly identical
Don't forget the XL. It looked just like it. It was a standalone model by its self.
@@kobewade8709 Correct - rare and good- looking for sure, too.
Dylan McCool and Junkyard Digs had the same problem. That was some nasty looking gas!
Yeah it was definitely unideal!
Tim - wrong. I hardly ever had to replace anything on my '70 Galaxie.
I know how to drive and maintain cars......can't speak for your family.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. (BABVVEN/TEBBVEN laws)
That’s truly unfortunate 🫤 I don’t know why they government’s offer the world need to do this. There’s so many repercussions from a decision like that.
@@dugganracecraft The just want to demobilize and control the people!
I hate to tell all these imbeciles that want to ban combustion engines , it won’t work economically, they will bury the poor and middle class trying to convert to electric vehicles just so they have transportation , so much for reliable affordable transportation
It may be a reality very soon!
You can't drive a luxury classic with your left hand and your right hand all on the passenger side like that don't look right
It definitely feels right! Only reason I was doing that was because the windows were up though lol
Of course you can! That's the whole point of having a bench seat car on date night!
check out my channel dude I had a 68 Torino that I did a burnout in and then my LTD Spits flames 🤣🤣🤣
I can relate 🤣🤣🤣
put Sea Foam down carb that will clean valve train
That's a great point, I'll try that and report back!
Great car but you talk to much
Sorry about that! I found that a lot of my viewers like some additional commentary, I'm sorry that didn't resonate well with you!
Do You take Baths and Showers without Soap and Shampoo? IF Not then WHY wash this car with (NO) soap?!
I actually went back off camera and hand washed it twice after the video!
Drive shafts dont go bad from setting unless its bent.
You are correct, but u joints can!
