When my cousin graduated High school in 1960, this is exactly what his parents got him for graduation. Same color, same model, and with a stick shift. That's what he wanted and back then you could get one. He got a lot of speeding tickets with this one ! 😂😂😂😂 As an adult, he got into drag racing and was quite successful !
That instrument cluster is THE BEST one ever made. Growing up, my Dad bought a ‘60 Chevy Kingswood station wagon for the family. Always remember that dash.
I love the bubble tops, and this is a perfect example of why. Mr. Prislinger's '60 has all the goodies, including the bat wings, too. What a great looking car! Thanks, Lou!
Back in 1964 I bought a 1960 Impala just like this one except it had a turquoise interior and turquoise stripe down the side to match. It was beautiful. It had the same 348 cu in, 335 hp, 11.25 compression ratio, 3 deuces, and Borg-Warner T-10 4 speed transmission (and full hubcaps with white-walls). Sadly as has been mentioned, the center drive shaft bearing was a weak spot and the rear end couldn't handle the power from the engine. I blew the spider gears apart the second night I had it. Unfortunately, the T-10 was "first design" and I popped all the teeth off 2nd gear a couple of times. (I should have upgraded it to the second design but that meant a lot more money and I didn't have it at the time.) I wish I'd had a phone with a camera in it back then because I don't have any pictures of it. I put a 4.56 posi 3rd member in it only to have to sell it again when the teeth popped off the transmission gears for the 2nd time and I was short on cash. The up keep proved to be too much for someone in high school and pumping gas for $1.50 an hour but it was fun while it lasted (about 9 months). Thanks for the memories!

That is the coolest '60 Chevy I've ever seen! Brings back memories. My first car was a '60 Bel Air 2 door sedan. Thank you Al and Lou for showing it to us! Love the exhaust.
Hi Jim V, Happy to read "That is the coolest '60 Chevy I've ever seen!" :-) Glad to read this car brings back memories of your 1st car. Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
My family had a 59 Impala 348 when I was a kid back in the 70s. My dad picked it up used. The 59 even had bigger fins. The 60 is more toned down and I like its looks much better than the 59.That 348 was great engine. It moved that big Impala. Me and my older brother would take it to the Drive In. Great looking car.
I just love the bubble top Chevys from this era and this exceptional unmolested '60 Impala in white with dog dishes and red interior is an absolute knockout! Thanks gentlemen, great vid!
What a way to exude beauty, style and strength from this 1960 Chevrolet Impala! The combination of white with the red interior is simply great, highlighting all its beautiful lines and chrome trim; like the large rocket-style plane, on the sides leaving a fascinating red trail, or the striking undulation of the trunk cover that begins to form those elegant horizontally inclined fins! A beautiful interior full of chrome trim and details; such as the aeronautical-style instrument panel (special mention for the fantastic internal visibility in all directions; thanks to its enormous, curved windshield with thin partitions, thus forming the stylized bubble-shaped roof). Lastly, the final ride was exciting, with that V8 roaring along the road in a very unique way! In fact, it was even difficult to hear them (the analogy with "American Graffiti" was good, haha). Congratulations to Mr. Prislinger on this American automotive gem! Best regards, Lou!
Lou the one thing I always liked about the full size Chevrolet of 1960; Was the emblem at the front of rear quarter panel that being a jet aircraft; It was a signal that the jet age had arrived. This 1960 Impala is just a beautiful beast. Thanks.
My brother had a 61 bubble top with a 283. No blind spots in that baby. Much over looked and I think one of the best Chevies ever. The dash reminds me of my 58 Corvette. Thanks to Lou and Al.
Our family had a 1960 Impala hardtop with blue/white exterior and interior. I used to hand-wash that car when I was a kid for extra pocket money and can remember every inch. Great car and some of my favorite rear lights of any vehicle!

Yeah Lou, another WINNER! You always seem to know what we would love to look at - always had a soft spot for this era of the full size Chevrolets - keep the 'chirps' comin' - Thanks Lou!
my first car!!!! same color! 348 4 speed was also white with the black inserts on the side!!! I was 17 years old when I bought it!!!! was 1967!! check the gas fill the oil!! OH WOW HAD A LOT OF GOOD TIMES!!!!!!! miss the wings and the bubble top!!!
Lou, I believe we got to put this fellow up for the best “give us a little rev award” Three times he really stepped into it while reving. Most guy’s usually just tap the petal….what a beautiful car! Thx again Lou!
Hi Lou, I have replied on some of your other videos, you are the best, Thank You! I had the 1959 Impala with the 348 and 4 speed. So wished I would have kept it today, It was a beast in the day, 1964.
My dad's first new car. Tasco Turquoise, 348 tri-power 335 horse, manual trans. He added a custom tube grille, '57 Plymouth hub caps and painted the "W" valve covers in a glossy refrigerator white. Early GM muscle!! We still have the original 348 crossed flags grille emblem in our garage. 🏁🏁 Thanks for sharing it with us Lou! Have a good week ahead.
Hey Lou! That's a really nice '60 Chevy Impala there! It suddenly brought back memories of a car similar to this that some cousins of mine owned as a second car in about 1971 (their other car at the time was a '66 Buick Skylark). Their Chevy had "only" a 283 and an automatic (Powerglide, I believe, but not sure) but still, it was some car! Thanks to the Bob Seger song "Night Moves," 1960 Chevrolets will forever be immortal, IMO! Once again, thanks for another awesome video, Lou! As always, I'll be looking for more!
Old Chevy's never die, they just go faster.😁 One of my favorite sayings from the 70s... Beautiful car, I want one! Thanks for another great video and car Lou 👍👍
Lou you present the absolute finest available owners/builders and their restorations, and this guy is stoic/heroic with this incredibly detailed dream machine! I see 3 carbs. I hear 3 chirps lol! And all out of that beautiful mill.....5:50 I'm guessing some "higher" octane might cross that portal on occasion....WINK! Great vid! Cheers!

Beautiful car! My brother's first car when he was a junior in high school in 1969 was a 1960 Impala. Didn't have this great motor and if memory serves, it was a 3-on-the-tree shift. Looking back it's surprising how beat up I remember it being as it was only 9 years old in 1969.
While this Bubble top car looks impressive...and it is, it wasn't until I heard the roar of the engine that made it really come alive. I didn't know about that badge in the middle of the grill means V8. Always learn from Lou's video! One of the best sounding engine's of all your videos! The 1960 tailights were much nicer than the similar 60's version. Man alive, that test drive was the best!!!
Hi Brian, Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this engine :-) Glad to read you're learning from the videos. I'm learning all the time too. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
I fell in love with these Batwing Chevys the first time I saw one, as a kid in the early 1970s. There aren't a whole lot of cars I would choose in their available white paint, but this is one of them - that white with red accents is perfectly classic on a Batwing. Another is a '65 Mustang, especially a 2+2, in Wimbledon White with the red interior.
Hi, Lou! Chevy may have had smaller wings in 1960, but Al's Impala can fly just the same, which make the jet side trim very fitting! Why, it even sounds like a plane! Maybe that's why Chevy ads of subsequent years promoted "Jet-Smooth Ride"! No need for a radio is right. You wouldn't be able to hear it anyway! LOL! Thanks for taking us all along on this American Graffiti ride. WAY better than a sewing machine!
Another gem Lou. Al was very fortunate to find this beauty in such wonderful condition. Wondering how much additional work/detailing he had to do once he to possession? Wanted to tell you that your videos are all terrific and you are a total class act in how you review each car and how you engage the owners. Stay well Lou, particularly as we start the season of Lent. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and your forthcoming videos.
One of the nicest Impalas ever made. Incredible shape! I believe the flags meant that it had the big block 348 and later the 409. Not hundred percent sure. Thanks for the video Lou!
Grear looking car with 348. Reminds the cars i learned to drive in mom had 2 tone green biscayne with a 348 in it and dad had 60 biscayne with a 6 cyl. three in the tree what great cars cut skills on
i had 2 60 chevys in my life lou. a biscayne and a bel air. both had that notorious carrier bearing in the middle of the x frame. very bad design on the part of GM. if you had any kind of horsepower in one of these it would just tear that bearing up. otherwise a great car. thank you lou for the video. brings back lots of memories.

I have owned over twenty 1960 Chey's. Belair's, Biscaynes, one Biscayne was a police car, and six El Camino's. Two red convertibles, one was a 348 4 speed. I owned three that were equipped with factory a/c. I have one left. A Tasco Turquois 2 door hardtop, 283, 4bbl with power pak heads and dual exhaust from the factory. I love1960 Chevy's! You have a very nice car! It looks like it sits too high in the rear and the red stripe is supposed to be black, if you are going for an original look Thank you so much for sharing! Fantastic! P.S. Burling, Ohio is across the river from me I would have bought the tire if I had known about it. I live in Huntington, WV. Thanks again!
Lou - all original body - was the car repainted ? I had a 1960 black Impala 2dsd bubble top with the red airplane stripe on the sides. Red interior with the red dash and carpets. 327 with dual exhausts. Brings back a lot of good memories ! Unfortunately mine succumbed to cancer in the floors and quarters and I was forced to to sell it. 😅 Thanks for sharing this video of this beautiful piece of American history with us.

My friend’s Mom had a white 60 Impala 2 door with an automatic though. Unfortunately while I was driving it I got rear ended by a lady in a 63 Impala. What made it worse I wasn’t supposed to be driving it. Taking the car to her house was a very stressful experience. My whip lash didn’t help matters either. The car featured here is a real beauty and a bad ass too.

Those tissue boxes make frequent appearances in these old cars. I only ever remember seeing one of those in my life, and it was in a 1965 Buick Electra. Of course it was a dealer installed item, but they really were not very popular.

KNICE! I wasn't familiar with the '60 Impalas, often getting confused between the '59s and the '60s. After watching this video, the first I've ever seen on a '60 impala, now o know the difference. Thank you for the video! I hope the owner enjoys his car for many years to come.
Now THAT is how a vintage car should sound when revving a strong V8!...Nothing timid about the owner letting us know how nasty-great that engine sounds. From what I remember, about the only difference between the 59 and the 60 models, was how the huge fins on the 59 were toned down, a little, for 1960...but they were still impressive. Chevrolet shocked the car world in 1961, when they abandoned those fins, in favor of a more sleek style. Three deuces on a 348 has to be a rare combo!
Lou , thanks for the last link, I saw it four years ago but felt inpired in the moment on that last video. It looks like there wans't much body change between this and the 58 model as seen in American Grafitti.
Iconic styling of an Impala. Today’s looks and tiny little engines with turbos on them are a travesty and an insult to great builders from back in this year of production Impalas ! Only thing I can say negative about the video is lube the door hinges and trunk hinges as the squeak opening was not a great portrayal of maintenance that got over looked.

Academy Award winner Lou!
High praise Popie!
i had 2 60 chevys in my life lou. a biscayne and a bel air. both had that notorious carrier bearing in the middle of the x frame. very bad design on the part of GM. if you had any kind of horsepower in one of these it would just tear that bearing up. otherwise a great car. thank you lou for the video. brings back lots of memories.
Happy to read this video bring back lots of memories sly 23 :-)

A beautiful car. I had a '60 El Camino. The Impala reminds me of it, except the guy I bought mine from removed the 348 and installed a 396.

Hello. Wishing you a good weekend too.
@@loucostabile Thanks !
What an absolute beauty. Everything about it is perfect. Dont know much about the 348. Good motors? Powerful?
High praise. Seems like a good engine to me.
Hi Tim, TWENTY! WOW! My pleasure sharing this car with you. You're welcome, Lou
The soulmate to Toad's white Impala from American Graffiti
The younger Brother :-)
Lou - all original body - was the car repainted ?
I had a 1960 black Impala 2dsd bubble top with the red airplane stripe on the sides. Red interior with the red dash and carpets. 327 with dual exhausts.
Brings back a lot of good memories ! Unfortunately mine succumbed to cancer in the floors and quarters and I was forced to to sell it. 😅
Thanks for sharing this video of this beautiful piece of American history with us.

That's a real Beauty their sounds great too😅
Happy to read you enjoy the looks and sounds of this car :-)
I wonder how fast it would be in the 1/4 :) depending on the gearing, i bet a low 15- high 14
Sounds about right.
My fav yr impala next to my 65 !🚗
NICE!
Great car. Not too many Impalas with the base hubcaps and black wall tires!
Happy to share this "Great car" with you Jim :-)
My friend’s Mom had a white 60 Impala 2 door with an automatic though. Unfortunately while I was driving it I got rear ended by a lady in a 63 Impala. What made it worse I wasn’t supposed to be driving it. Taking the car to her house was a very stressful experience. My whip lash didn’t help matters either. The car featured here is a real beauty and a bad ass too.

Thank you for sharing.
Those tissue boxes make frequent appearances in these old cars. I only ever remember seeing one of those in my life, and it was in a 1965 Buick Electra. Of course it was a dealer installed item, but they really were not very popular.
Thank you for sharing what you noticed.
A damn hot rod from back in the day.
:-)
Sounds like a solid lifter engine
Thank you for sharing what you notice.
THE 59/60 DASHES are the best ever

KNICE! I wasn't familiar with the '60 Impalas, often getting confused between the '59s and the '60s. After watching this video, the first I've ever seen on a '60 impala, now o know the difference. Thank you for the video! I hope the owner enjoys his car for many years to come.
Hi Daniel, Happy to read you learned something from this video. I'm learning all the time from the Caretakers and I fun that to be so much fun :-) Lou
My uncles first car was a new 57' Chevy. This was his 2nd new car in white like this.

:-)
That's how they're supposed to sound :)
....just the way we like it. NICE!
Happy to read you enjoy the rev with this car :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing.
The “V” with the cross flags was used to indicate a 348 The 283 cars did not have the flags
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I didn't know that a 4 speed transmission was available on this car in 1960.
Thanks for sharing.
Lou , thanks for the last link, I saw it four years ago but felt inpired in the moment on that last video. It looks like there wans't much body change between this and the 58 model as seen in American Grafitti.
Cryptoman 5000, Happy to read this video inspired you. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou

White wall tires and full wheel covers would improve the appearance a lot, imo.
