    Most people who are cut or stabbed don't realize they are being hit with a knife at first. Most report thinking that they were being punched at first. Some don't realize until after the altercation. This is a demonstration. This is how technique is demonstrated in EVERY martial system. This is not a video depicting a real time situation. If it was you would learn next to nothing from it. Very obviously this would be applied at full speed later in training. The idea is to teach a series of movements that you want to apply. If you don't train to continue the motion then you will do one or two strikes and then run into a wall because you have gone no further. Picking apart a demonstration shows either you do not understand the concept of teaching or you are just trying to make yourself feel superior. Would you immediately show a kindergarten student cursive and expect them to write a report on War and Peace? The same applies to martial arts systems. There is no difference in the learning curve.

    When the camera goes into slow motion and it still looks like you're moving fast, you're pretty damn fast. I would not want to mess with this guy.

    People under-estimate the time it takes to draw a knife. Someone told me the other day, it takes longer to draw a knife than it does to draw a gun. Which is obviously ridiculous. Nice video, it really shows the speed at which a knife can be deployed and used.

    There is a video on youtube of Guro Dan Inosanto in a training situation w/ various law enforcement officers showing that a minimum distance of 20 ft is needed for them to draw their gun, aim and shoot accurately when being attacked by someone wielding a knife.

    @ishniek123 Have you heard about "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight"? :) In Pekiti Tirsia, they do the exact opposite, they draw the knife even though the gunner is 5-7 meters away. This is, as you say, because it takes longer to draw a gun than to draw a knife and run to attack. With a gun, you have to draw, unsecure the gun, aim and then shoot. Unless you are super-trained, and have practiced to do this in a split second, you are dead to the knife wielder.

  • @yawars1
    @yawars1 13 лет назад

    Karambit have 120% advantage over a gun in closed range. It can cut 10 times in a second depending on the accuracy and speed of a Pikiti Tirsia trainer.

    The problem with rebounding energy is it weakens your strike since you lose some of the momentum of the strike.

    • @txzen
      @txzen 9 лет назад

      +Tyler Lalonde I am just guessing but with a knife would there be a point of diminishing return on a strike in terms of force? As in too much force and you hit bone, or a certain strike hits a vital tissue and goes farther doesn't or hitting it harder does less then attacking another vital tissue?

    It's about 3 to 5 seconds of interval depend on the range and accuracy of attack of an average gun user. User of Korambit can attack 1.5 to 2 second reflex and cut 10 times of deep wound in 1 seconds with executing technique.
    With applied Panuntukan and Counter Offensive Attack, it can kill an enemy in 3 second. The dirtiest arts from Philippines, Guerrilla Tactics!

    • @Tyler_Lalonde-
      @Tyler_Lalonde- 10 лет назад

      DeMoniC InsaNiTy no he would react after a few cuts. specially when he sets it up like the guy is attacking him. but of course to show the cuts he needs a dumby that doesn't fight back and is stupid enough to attack a guy with a knife. is just bs in how he uses it here. if he should it all with a different attacks to counter cuts then yeah. also throwing a knife in the air is stupid , they must really think that someone is gonna watch the knife go up and down.

      Tyler Lalonde frankly its not even hard to do, ive imitated a lot of the videos that are X cuts in X seconds
      or X punches in X seconds
      i agree with you a target who's moving or fighting back is another issue completely

    • @Tyler_Lalonde-
      @Tyler_Lalonde- 9 лет назад +1

      Anastazja Swiderska thanks I do agree to keep attacking. But just not training like that.

    • @3enjamin
      @3enjamin 8 лет назад +1

      +Tyler Lalonde No, they just take that as a thing to measure time. The time it need for the knife to go up and down is count by second(s). And that's it. (Of course it's not about throwing the knife to distract your enemy by make them look at it flying up and down)

  • @anastazjaswiderska2341
    @anastazjaswiderska2341 9 лет назад +2

    I like the people who talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight, and how much faster the knife is
    lol
    clearly you've never heard of quick draw artists
    sure if you've got a glock tucked in the back of your pants or in a holster with buckles
    im sure the knife is fast enough then
    but just as you have martial artists who practice for this kind of speed and precision there are also people who practice the quick draw all their lives, and can shoot from the hip
    and what makes the argument stupid is this
    someone is going to come back and counter my argument with "But not everyone you meet with a gun is going to be a quick draw master"
    well if you're going to go there here's some food for thought
    not everyone who pulls a knife on you is going to be a filipino martial arts master
    you're argument is moot
    good day
    also, if someone is running at you with a knife, cant you back pedal as you're drawing you're gun? there are people who can run backwards as fast as some people can run facing forward
    and here's how someone is going to counter my argument
    "What if you're backed to a wall?"
    my argument
    "Why were you stupid enough to back yourself to a wall? you deserve to get cut and stabbed"
    You all act like its so hard to defend yourself
    like its so hard to move your body
    are you the tin man or something? are your joints and muscles rusted over that you cant move freely? you have to stand there and get stabbed?

    • @R3dp055um
      @R3dp055um 8 лет назад

      +James Cutler While I agree, I would add that self defense begins with the *will* to defend yourself. Believe it or not, some people lack that willingness to do violence in self defense.

    • @treizekhushrenada4235
      @treizekhushrenada4235 7 лет назад +1

      Depends on range and the people at hand. quick draw can be done with a fire arm keep in mind even though it disposes of a projectile. OF course, id say the blade wins close range , factors such as fixed weapons once being drawn hitting the points instantly, as opposed to a firearm having more motions, even the trigger (or safety mind you unless you train these in motion).
      Why police take trained weapon practitioners seriously, or untrained at that. Even to draw a gun to respond to a drawn blade requires space and time. Both of which require skill and training to acquire control of.
