I saw the MC5 when they played in Springfield MA. Wayne Kramer was so nice. We went to their motel room and talked for a long time. We were underage and there was no hanky panky. Wayne was such a sweetheart. I love to talk to him now and let him now.
Saw them do Ramblin Rose at a free concert early 70s at New Paltz state college. We were in total awe at how great they were Their stage presence was electric. They just blew me away.Awesome show.
Hell yeah....the real deal...for sure....my era ..i'm 67..now...still use Marshall stacks...big amps...Gibson lespaul...and Fender strats.....check out my music at... ReverbNation/Lenny Luzitano
This is fun! In high school, l had snagged MC5's Kick Out The Jams debut album, then caught them at the old Boston Garden opening for Led Zepplin (Whole Lotta Love tour).
Love you Wayne Kramer! You were the klndest and most gentle man I ever met when they played in Springfield MA. You were ranked in the top 100 guitar players. Love the work you've been doing after doing time such as Guitars for prisoners, speaking engagements a out addictiond etc.
Commander Cody was there too. I recall going to all these WABX free concerts at Tartar Field in the summer of 1970. Savoy Brown just showed up unannounced and played at the end. Terry Reid did the same at one of the other concerts there that summer.
@@mikepreslar8686 I remember them doing 'Needle & Spoon'. I found this vid(that was recorded by Detroit Tube Works) and was amazed to see my 17 year-old self in front of the stage while the MC5 played 'Looking at You'.
@vollsticks: Tyner was backstage. During this period it was common for the band to open with Ramblin' Rose, sung by Wayne, then Rob would come out for the second song which was almost always Kick Out The Jams.
***** Was I at this particular Tartar Field show? It's difficult to remember for sure, I saw the 5 many times at many different locations, and was at a lot of the WABX free concerts at Wayne State's Tartar Field ,All that said, with all the Boonesfarm, available at the party store across the street, and other assorted goodies, maybe is as good as it gets.
All I think of is how this is only 15 years after Marty McFly is supposed to have played that school dance, when he plays the music that hurts their ears. Only 15 years later. This. Fuck yeah.
Fuckin' amazin' to this day. Three years before 'Raw power' (Iggy & The Stooges)...pity the freakin' cops destroyed the band (sign o' the times...Kent State et al).
1:00-1:25 black dude hits joint behind Wayne Kramer, hands it to white dude who does MASSIVE double hit with cheeks sucked in, man, that’s how you blazed that Mexican Range Weed back in the day!
All the time at Ford Auditorium about 8 blocks from there. You can still drive down the freeway at see Tartar Field. Area is now undergoing "Gentrification". So many great bands came out of Cass Corridor area, not just MC5, Stooges and White Stripes. Check out Nutants, Silies and so many more and WABX was 1st, W4 2nd and WRIF distant 3rd but still here. ABX billed as Undeground Radio in early 70s. Check out a band called "Death", not Death this or Death that just plain old "Death" 3 Brothers (in every sense of word)putting out killer shit in mid 70s. Politicians in my Eyes.
"One Of Your Best Performence, Man !" . .
This is so charming in a very low budget way. A naked wig stand with balloons? Before rock and roll got big and bloated (like Zep and Floyd). MC5 were the real deal, but they never did get to taste any glory. (Read Detroit Rocks the Uncensored History for the inside dope on the scene.)
I can't stop watching this video. This is the definition of stage presence.
Definitely
David Hampel on
I’m with you on that !!, brother Wayne is just killin it !!!!!!
Kinda like, what did they have the 5th person for? I like them better this way.
Great Tune!!
Wayne Kramer and Fred Sonic Smith, the first guitar duo, the best guitar duo...ever, the first and best, period, pack it up.
Think Beatles buddy, they were the true 1st
Brother Wayne pulls a straight wiggly sideways frickin moon walk whilst pulling a string bend ...
That’s his homage to his idol, James Brown.

Beverly Holbrook - you let him what now?
Cmon' Bev...let's be real here...
Dennis went through about 20 drumsticks just in this song.
hahaha
They don’t call him machine gun for nothing
That's rock 'n' roll right there....if you have to explain it to the kids...just show 'em this.
no explanation necessary
Steve rust belt rock at its fucked rocking best, softies from cali need a lesson in what hard is. brother Wayne kramer.

What a showmanship. I always come back to this video to stay in awe.
The foot slide Wayne does at the start of the solo would make James Brown blush. Sick energy from a great rock band. Kills the posers playing today

ROCK ON!!
@@nastienancy21 Oh yeah Nancy. Ty for the shout out.
@@lennyluzitano8920 Just saw this Len. Keep on rocking.
Raunchy, hard edged, profane and loveable. MC-5 made a lot of early impressions.
No kidding! They were THE proto-punk band to be reckoned with!
Whenever im not really feeling what im playing, whenever I feel down, or whenever Im uninspired, this always inspires me and pumps me up!
I will never get over how much I love this.
My favorite MC5 song -- seems like most people choose KOTJs but this one has a louder groove with that incredible opening riff!
The GREATEST Band of all time! No Fuckin' arguments ever. Rock n Roll the only way that matters!
First class rock and roll, bloody marvellous!
AC/DC about four years before AC/DC...the MC5 set the bar very high for musicianship and live performances.
No. MC5 about a thousand years too late.
"Love is like a ramblin' rose-the more you suck it, the more it grows!"

That WK move at 1:50 ... genius. Went to college at WSU, used to walk around here all the time.

SPIRITUAL BAND
SAW THEM LIVE IN 1970 AND 1971 they were FUCKING INCREDIBLE STILL one of my top 10 favorite American bands!
I was there, it was awesome as they always were! I remember Teegarden and Van Winkle, Frigid Pink and Savoy Brown being there too.
You were lucky I wish I could have been alive to see this

Detroit used to have rock royalty living right here in Detroit.
Esse guitarrista era foda. Se fudeu com as drogas, mas era foda como vocalista e guitarrista.
Great show, 1970 Detroit rock & roll, -turn the volume knob to ten, then break it off.WABX had free shows all the time

Is this singing a joke, it sounds like one of those "SHREDDING" videos
That's how the version by Ted Taylor sounds: ruclips.net/video/-mE3vpDeRrg/видео.html
was she trying to be funny or some shit
That dude's voice sounded like Brian Johnson's after 30+ years of singing with AC/DC.
