- Logic’s May 2017 album 'Everybody' includes the Top 10 hit “1-800-273-8255,” but the track’s producer 6ix laid down more than just one hot beat on the project. Logic works frequently with 6ix, who has handled at least one song on every one of Logic’s albums. He recently linked up with Genius to break down how the 'Everybody' track “Take It Back” came together.

6ix and Logic complement each other so well.
BlackySpeakz hey
BlackySpeakz you comment in every video that has to do with hip hop

Hello there fellow netizen 👋, I'm an aspiring music producer and I would like to have some human help with my music. Can you please critic my work? It would mean so much to me. Thank you! 😊
logic and c sick is another good duo
Most underrated producer in hip-hop. Quit pre-med school to make music. Really cool dude.
Heisenberg pre-med lol he even corrects people on that
FR. Does not get the recognition he deserves. And this beat is nothing compared to his others
Heisenberg never knew he was indian that’s lit
ticticunkown
Word. I edited the comment. I'm sure he'd appreciate that. Thanks for the info.
Fr. Instead people idolize Metro Boomin. Smh. He uses the same sounds in every damn song.
Damn 6ix finally getting some exposure. The dudes a great producer.
Dreams lol i always see your comments everywhere
Gio Vlogs really? Lmao that's actually funny
ZACH301 Nice Pictures 😂😂
They should do 44 bars as well, that beat is beautiful
Hayden But its not like super complicated neither. Its hats, snares, and kicks. along with the sample but the instrumental is beautiful though.
Perez I wanna know the sample
Luis Dominguez the sample is Barry levington- the vibes is right
Hayden ahhh thanks man
!!!
6ix left his doctor career to murder the beat.
Polander X 😀😂😂
as opposed to murdering people as a doctor
How to get away with murder
he murdered someone ?
Phyes he murdered the beat
6ix is amazing
Shaynah Hessong ikr. My favourite young producer
Shaynah Hessong he really is
Shaynah Hessong 6ix9ine better
indeed
He’s a better producer than Logic is a rapper
i cant be the only one that watches these and has no clue whats going on, but still watches them lmao
😂
It helps a lot of you're a producer!! Really... These videos are far better then most of the tutorials on RUclips+
I learned how to make beats from these videos lmao
@@beatslegendsworldwide5180 You should check out Simon Servida. He's a great fl studio youtube producer.
That's how I am with Digital Foundry videos.
Logic was talking on this beat for like 6 minutes 😂
I was waiting for someone to say that lol
He raps for 3 minutes and the other 3 minutes he is talking, yeah cool.
@@kntrvrsy Actually.... No, he raps for 1 minute 50 seconds and the 4 minutes left is just pure talk
@@pato5769 there's two versions isn't there? One where he talks, the other is just rapping...?
Joe one version is just raps and other is extended
YESSSSS. Haven’t seen a beat making video with 6ix since the dorm days!
ChrisPunsalanTV ayye ayye. you are going to be on genius soon
MY DUDE!!!
StrasnusDude hope so!
Tha Swami Yo!
ChrisPunsalanTV i cant find 6ix Twitter?
This has to be the best most in depth "Making of" vid you guys have done. It's really helpful to upcoming producers to actually see what they're doing on there screen instead of just hearing them talk about it like some vids.
RIGHT
Doesn’t it just depend on what the producer wants to share tho
what about redbone making of that is also so in depth
XylaN despacito was pretty in depth too
Sean Quinn we aint talking bout no despacito
Like what Logic said in Keanu Reeves:
“That boy 6ix got my back, 6ix made this beat, 6ix bring the heat, you got on repeat.”
I don’t play no games, less we talkin fortnite
My guy speaking faxxx.
If IX is the Roman numeral for 9, is his name actually 69?
Holy fuck
Did 6ix produced for 6ix9ine?
Broccoli Rob PREACH 🙏🙌
That means Tekashi’s name is 6991ne
Woah
YO 6IX IS FINALLY ON GENIUS LETS GOOOOOOOOO
DiamondBoy eyyy
Evs what laptop is he using?
He's been on here before a while back
Deep Cool Awesome skills beautiful music spoke word flow Dope
6ix is genuinely one of the most creative and unique producers out. So heavily slept on in the producer game
Indians😏
@@manv_4149 what do u mean by that
@@manv_4149 he doesnt look like Indian to me lol
@@pandoraa777 he is indian
i feel good when i see artists use the same equipment, software, hardware etc that i use
You'll feel even better when you start to make noise like they can!
Its all about the time put in, not the equipment, you could have the best equipment in the world and make the most shitty music
Bippy Bo word
Bippy Bo too true
it also makes you feel bad seeing them make amateur mistakes.... the volume on flstudio's mixer has no reason to go above the standard point and the hi-hat peak routing thing is kinda useless since the kick and hi hat hit at very different frequency ranges in the first place so they dont fight each other they actually kinda enhence each other... from a sound engineering point of view, but from a logical point of view, get a rapper like logic and give him any beat hell kill it
Underrated.
Finally something that doesn’t have to do with 1-800

petition for logic to remix the song, scratch the speech at the end
Seriously? the more you know lol
Luis Aranda this beat is flame, he needs to just rip it, no speech
Sleight of Hand I totally agree!
I second
Absolutely, maybe do some features

@@stevendelahuertamusic5022 both music and production are taking a massive blow in this video, did you hear how he was describing a side chain on the hi hats

It took 3 albums and the BT mixtape for 6ix to be on here. Well deserved
Love how he actually explains the process and the impact of what he puts in
usually I don't gain anything from these videos, but this dude broke it all the way down to the mixing. I use fl studio too and now I know that kick and hi hat trick thanks to 6ix
fr
i'm ready for ultra85
Ultra 85**

Bobby Tarantino II is coming out before U85

#producerslife 😂
Hey thats the guy from the incredible true story cover ;)
Bruh... I really like how 6 just went pretty in depth with you.. like it wasn't crazy in depth but it was in depth to a point where you can understand what he's saying. Props to him for showing us the process
i could watch these deconstructed videos all day all night
6ix is inspiring. Humble dude.
I always gets chills when I hear that loop 👏🏽🔥❄️ 4:09
I don’t think y’all realize how hyped this makes me. 6ix is an underrated genius, and with Bobby’s creative ideas they create some of the most unique beats I’ve heard
Dude I've been waiting for this for so long I love this beat I wish logic rapped a bit more in a way I feel like he wasted this beat
Rey TheKing it would’ve been nice if he rapped more but I kinda liked his little speech also
Rey TheKing word man the song sucked
alexguy96 it really didnt tho
Right. This was the best beat on the album and i fucks with the whole equality thing but he got sooo preachy on this track
Rey TheKing oh I'm logic I'm biracial bla bla bla black people black people bla bla bla white people white people bla bla bla Latinos Latinos bla bla bla bla bla . Phh nigga nobody cares .
1:59 He's sidechaining the hihats to his kick
John James Thanks
Yes you’re correct there.
I was wondering why he gave a long ass explanation lol
Nico Guapo sidechaining is when you link a sound to a kick so that when the kick hits, the volume on the other sound (be it a synth or lead or in this case a hi hat), goes down so that the kick sounds like it is on top of the other sound and not 'muddy' or 'muffled'.
Yea! First things first, the Kick and the instrument/sound you want to SideChain have to be on separate channels... So you take the instrument/sound you want to sidechain and add the Compressor onto that channel. Then on the top right hand corner click the Side Chain drop down and choose your Kick channel.
Then click on the silver rectangular Side Chain button and click "Peak" under the Detection side.
Now you see where it says auto gain? Turn that to "off".
Take the Attack nob (bottom middle nob) and put that onto anywhere between 5 to 10 milliseconds.
Leave the Ratio (top middle nob) on 2.0. (increase the Ratio Nob if you want the Kick to cut out more of the signal on that specific instrument)
And adjust the Threshhold nob (top left nob) to anywhere from -30. dB to -10 dB ... Play with that a bit (I usually use -10 dB Threshhold..
Put the Release Nob (bottom right nob) usually anywhere from 20. milliseconds to 150 milliseconds, I usually use 50 or 100 milliseconds somwhere around there..
And lastly, play with those nobs until you find the speed and strength you want your instrument to be sidechained with. 👍
By far my favorite deconstructed. 6ix is super humble, and explains everything thoroughly.
I’d love a whole series of 6ix breaking stuff down
I would like this song better if logic didnt make a speech wasting all the opportunity to make the hardest song of 2k17
IDon'tHaveALife i agree :/
True
IDon'tHaveALife I prefer the music video version, where the speech is left out.
True shit , no hate towards Robert , but he did waste a really dope ass beat
i still like the song but i completely agree this song could've been so much bettrr
400 semitones 😵
i was just about to say
Can I kill this beat PLEASE? LMao 6ix needa drop the instrumental
Moxas just leave the beat alone please
Lol, why though? How you think Logic started? Moxas may be at the low level where Logic used to be. Logic didnt let anyone stop him, why make Moxas stop? Everyone starts somewhere
Raymond Nouata you act like all your favourite rappers didn’t start off by doing remixes and instrumentals
Moxas just look it up
This is late... but the instrumental was remade
“There’s brilliance in simplicity”
I like that
I work with FL so this is dope af to me
Carlos Martinez Same
I want to learn using it, I have no music background. How hard is it?
Nsovo Sambo you can do it. There are plenty of tutorials how to use music programs. But the important thing is to get a feeling for music. Whip with the beat break your legs, yeah haha just listen to Music and try new things out, different genres. Jazz for example, roots of hiphop and the music we know today
Thanks man. Giving it try.
Listening to a TON of music really helps with the flow of your beats.
Thank YOU for sharing this!
Love how this is part tutorial/part behind-the-scenes. Great video. Humble dude
One of my favorite songs from the album! Amazing job
6ix is on the come up🔥🔥
6ix is so slept on
This is the most underrated video, this one acc shows you in detail what hes done.
Thank you for uploading this gem.
He’s such a beast, he’s probably the reason I started making beats lol
It’s always the simple beats that win. 6ix has always been consistent. 🏆
this video is the best one of this series. every producer needs to go into this much detail with the effects they used and all that
@Genius This is one of the best Deconstructed Videos you guys have done, good shit
This beat was so fuckin good Logic could have fucked this up but he went on a rant for like four minutes instead.
Song is only 2 mins tho 😕
He poppin That lol that’s the music video, the song lasts for 6:41
Wish Cole went on it
He poppin That it’s 6:40
it had to be said though

LOL true
Brilliance in simplicity .......
Dude I could listen to that loop during meditation for an hour bro
these videos are great. much inspiration
3:53 Sounds relaxing.
Simplicity is the highest form of sophistication.
This beat is so simple but so good at the same time. It's crazy how the simplest beats are usually the best ones too
The attention to detail is reflected in the greatness of the beats and the lyrics of the song!
6ix is amazing producers should definitely get more light in hip-hop
such a nice dude. i've learned a lot now.
gosh i love the 808 so much
Loving the new production style on this video.

Logic 44 bars one of the coldest tracks ever 🔥🔥
Kung-Fu Kenny Family agreed I wish he rapped like that more often
Can't even lie this video taught me alot. That quick little tip he gave about linking controllers helped me a A TON.
Love how this is one of the only genius beat videos where the dude is just chillin at the crib, gotta love 6ix. You can tell how much more down to earth he is than a lot of the other guys just from watching this
My brain: With exchanging the S with 6 he probably means that its pronounced "Six".
Me: *b i x*
This happens to me but with 6lack, I know that the 6 is replacing the B but I still pronounce it "Slack"
SUBTITULOS EN ESPAÑOL ES TODO LO QUE NECESITO EN ESTE CANAL !!!😂😂
ME ENCANTAAA
Six is great, such inspiration, you see how he judges himself while at shows? Thats amazing!
Respect. And I love what he said at the end. Many people won't admit that.
Please do a song from Kendrick’s Damn
Nice video
Winds, Mind checking out our recent LOFI rhymes and maybe dropping some feedback ;)
2:00 he was really giving out free game for aspiring producers, what a guy.
Its amazing how simple and amazing the beat is. Todays artists try to make it so complex, but this is just simple and beautiful
I’m ready for ultra 85 and Bobby Tarantino II
Fav song on the album. Damn I wish Cole woulda went in on it too
DropDeadJonny That's what I was thinking
True!
There's brilliance in simplicity. Words well spoken. It's the hardest to create simplistic but it's so effective.
Can we get more of 6ix! He is such a talented producer and deserves recognition.
haven't clicked on a video so fast
Love you 6ix
