      The Mentor lore is an interesting addition. In that continuity, we have nine of these pairs.
      I’ll start with Big Wing, mentor to Trickdiamond. Big Wing allowed Trickdiamond to have a sort of lax life of drifting. After Big Wing was killed by Devestator, an event which was covered up, Trickdiamond figured this was a final lesson to make the most of her life. This led to her falling in with Swindle and Starscream, betraying the former to be rewarded by the latter. Not sure if Big Wing would be disappointed of the crowd Trickdiamond fell in with.
      Next comes Alpha Trion, mentor to Ultra Magnus. Trion seemed to teach Magnus to be merciful and caring towards the enemy, especially when they lose and get wiped from history. Given Magnus was one of the Great Generals during the War of the Threefold Spark, this was likely very necessary advice. And later on, Magnus goes through much effort to rescue Trion from Soundblaster, even almost falling into a black hole. A good pairing to each other.
      Next is Wheeljack who mentors Gears. Wheeljack is very supportive and always gives Gears encouragement, never getting mad at how Gears keeps floating off the Winged Moon leading to constant rescues by Cosmos. Wheeljack even gets angry at Huffer for being cynical to Gears, even if Gears has stuck with Wheeljack longer than the two kilocycles (years) that mentees stay with their mentors. Given how happy the two are to be reunited later in the war, I get the feeling Wheeljack would absolutely sacrifice everything for Gears. Heartwarming, aren’t they?
      I think Cryak absolutely raised Starscream to be a Cybertronian patriot, to care deeply for Cybertron. Starscream’s treacherous side developed during those early kilocycles leading to Cryak getting the same impression of Starscream as everyone else. When it comes to his scheming, I think Starscream’s love for Cybertron leads him to want to be close to the powerful by any means to judge if they are right for the job. He certainly has no qualms using blackmail to become head of intelligence under Sentinel Prime, costing Soundwave his job. Starscream must have a similar view of Sentinel that Megatron did, someone who was asking Cybertron to sacrifice itself for the rest of the galaxy. So despite Starscream’s scheming, he’s actually perfect for the Decepticons because his beliefs match up with the faction.
      Next is Arcee and Gauge. Arcee’s girlfriend Greenlight counts too. Arcee is clearly very defensive of Gauge, willing to confront or even fight others who hurt her in any way. Greenlight also worries about Gauge’s future as the war begins. And after their adventure with the Reversionists, the two older bots are willing to let Gauge question their judgement, showing their open to her making her own decisions despite being so young. A nice group.
      Now we get to Shutter, mentor to Bumblebee. We don’t know much about her, but she did teach Bumblebee about how Cybertronians are tied to Cybertron thanks to the metals they are made up of and about the duality between light and darkness. She’s also caring towards other young Cybertronians given how she sympathetic she is towards Cliffjumper being forged right after Bee, but having nobody but Sentinel to greet him. I think Shutter taught Bee well.
      As for Bumblebee himself, we see how things go with Rubble. He had a hard time getting the young one to concentrate, but did recognize Rubble had an interest to become an engineer. In the end, Bumblebee prioritized his friendship with Orion which technically got Rubble killed, something which are away at Bumblebee to the point he killed Rubble’s killer, Quake, and nearly did the same to Barricade who provided info to Quake. In the end, Bee vows to not disgrace Rubble’s memory by letting his death change him.
      Next is Termagax, mentor to Megatron. If I had to choose worst mentor ever, it would be her. She taught Megatron about never owing everything to the past, but always striving forward for those in the future. This led to Megatron becoming a miner and gladiator, determined to do his part for Cybertron’s Age of Expansion. Nothing wrong here really besides Termagax only focusing on the positives of that age. But as we see, Termagax liked to take risks like with the Constructicons and the Enigma of Combination. Termagax also doesn’t like debating with others, leading her to quit politics only 30 kilocycles before the story. She failed to notice how Megatron desired glory and power for himself and how he used her political party to force Cybertron to return to the Age of Expansion until it was too late. Megatron clearly grows to want Termagax to stay out of his way and even shoots what he thinks is her dead when she calls him out. Worst mentor ever. No doubt.
      Finally we have Codexa, mentor to Optimus/Orion Pax. She teaches Orion to see Cybertron as a living world and initially wants him to take her place as head archivist. However she recognizes Orion would be better in other services and thus had him check out the Winged Moon and explore the colonies to get a new perspective. She thus shows no regret when Orion returns and wants to be a senator. Codexa had a negative view of the Age of Expansion and even wrote a book about this, likely including Orion to join the Autobot political party. Orion was so close with Codexa that the Mediator program in the Matrix takes her form whenever it communicates with Optimus. They are definitely a close pair. Perhaps even a rival to Wheeljack and Gears.

    I don't think it fair to say Starscream "betray" her after she did the same to him.
    Because let be real here, after someone tried to steal your body, left you to rot, and commit mass murder then any sort of obligation to stand by them is thrown out the window, parent or no.

      Yeah I don't see him as betraying her at all. And even her betrayal is her preying on his love for Cybertron. She hoped he'd offer up his body to her because he loved her and Cybertron. I don't see it as betrayal in a way since she didn't tell him she wouldn't do it. She didn't lead him to believe she was going to do anything else. She made her plans clear. Maybe it still counts as betrayal, but it may be more of a betrayal to Cybertron if anything else.
      Poor Starscream is just shit on by everyone. It's ok, I still love him.
      I also wonder if it explains why he seems to "soften" up around the female bots and even female humans. He retains the good memories of his mom. I mean that's a stretch since she was only brought up for an issue, but it would make it any interesting theory.

    Honestly, this take with Cybertronians being created by Primus then raised by a mentor (who is like a Cybertronian equivalent of parent) is really really amazing. It's like the best of both worlds for those in the camp who believe Cybertronians can have children and the camp who believe Primus forges them immediately with their personality set.
    Though, one change I'd say should be made is Optimus Prime's mentor is Alpha Trion. The relationship between Optimus and Alpha Trion is always depicted as a father/son relationship and I think Optimus' father mentor should be Alpha Trion. Otherwise, I believe this concept should become a staple in Transformers lore from now on.

    • @pepita2437
      @pepita2437 18 дней назад

      The Decepticons didn't start out as bad guys in quite a few continuity, and Megatron had outright heroic beginnings. Like in TFP, IDW, or the aligned continuity Megatron was basicaly a mining slave, and later gladiator who set his life on freeing Cybertron from the rule of the very corrupt elit, and from the caste system.
      The promblem was that he was willing to compromise his moral intergrity along the way, and his appetite for revenge and cruelty triumphed over his sense of justice at the end.
      I really love that in some continuities Megatron and Orion worked together to change Cybertron for the better, and were basiclly sworn brothers, and I would really like to watch a series about the early days of their revolution.

    I agree with you there, and I think there is a reason why Starscream abandoned his mother. However, it could be possible that Cyrcak had never had someone to look after his son, Starscream, when she did travel all over Cybertron for science and knowledge. And my second theory is why Starscream chooses to abandon Cyrack in her fate. Is that she is very selfish and never considers her son's well-being and never tries to reach out to him as a spark; I don't know much about the biology of the transformers, but I do know you should at least try to be there for Starscream when he needed her most. Since Cyrack never tries to take Starscream's offer to help her to get a new body. But instead wants Starscream to leave him to her fate, and if Cyrack has actually taken his son's body and left him to that creature, then she probably would kill him in that form without hesitation. So I think Starscream does care for his mother. Still, his mother uses his body as a vessel to commit several genocides toward organics and other Cybertronains who don't think into her vision of what Cybertron should be. I also read that comic online on my iPhone, and it is a great series to read, but I haven't read the issues yet. What is the page number issue where Optimus and Megatron have mothers on which number issue? Also, have you ever heard of a fan-made Transformers Prime sequel Transformers Prime: Galvatron's Revenge, and a new transformers series called Transformers: EarthSpark?
    Anyway, this is an excellent story about Starscream's mother and the origin of his character, so please keep up the fantastic job you're doing "til all are one!"

  • @kummupins3048
    @kummupins3048 Год назад +18

    I'd say it's a Halloween story, so take it with a grain of salt because the writers had to come up with something both punny and spooky. Though to take it more seriously, it doesn't seem like he leaves her out of malice of cruelty. The idea of getting her a new body went out the window when he realized she was a crazed lunatic. (After all, she could have been coy she could have gotten a new body, then did a genocide. But, she had a mania for genocide now.) He also didn't have it in him to kill his mom. So, he can't put her in a body to join the planet otherwise she'd go on a rampage and he can't bring himself to permanently delete her soul. The best compromise he can do, for his mother who wanted to rejoin the planet, is to let her be eternally connected to the planet as one of Cyberton's myths. So it's more of finding a compromise between a bad and worse situation.
