I work a corporate job so 5 days out of the week I can't wear my sneakers. Once it's the weekend I end up just wearing my beaters because I don't feel there's a worthwhile reason to wear something from the collection. I had 300 pairs, but have been slowly downsizing since February. We will always have the sneaker bug, but I now firmly believe that if you don't wear 'em, sell' em.
tsoltrs so much truth! M-F im in work clothes, weekends are for chillin with my kids now, so ill wear beaters. if I didnt hoop id have very few kicks but hoop keeps my bug going. but i try to keep it under 20-30 pairs. cant believe some of the stuff ive sold but i never regret it.

I have 1 pair of Jordan's 1-14 which I call a small J collection. I never understood why some people need 5 or 6 pair of the same shoe. I think 20 or 30 pair is enough.

Rongosserand SneakerSteez HES didn't start this "trend" it's been happening for years with a lot of the big collectors including myself having sold off their large collections of OGs over a decade ago. The difference is if you weren't on a sneaker message board like NT, crooked tongues or sneaker Freaker you didn't hear about it. Also IMO this is just part of that sneaker obsession cycle. You sell off everything rock a few pairs and then a couple years down the line you it builds back up. The reality of it is life isn't that long and to stock pile hundreds and sometimes thousands of shoes that you more than likely will never wear and that will be retrod over and over is a waste of money, space and creates clutter in your life. Not for all of us but most.

I downsized my collection to like 15 pairs after I graduated high school
I really wear slides almost every day but I have shoes to wear if I go out but during the week when I've got slides you very rarely catch me without slides on or some other easy to put on shoe

Ismael Rosado air jordans aren't really minimalistic it's just reselling that's been slowly killing the market even retail has played apart on downfall. Really minimalism is in modern art museums.

this is a growing trend with collectors. The cause of this is very simple. More supply, so the value of the "limited" sneaker diminishes. So these "portfolios" of sneaker heads stopped performing. Why is there more supply? well the central bank of sneakers (Nike) flooded the market with Jordans to bypass the resellers. And Adidas is increasing supply at the same rate with NMDs, Boosts etc. This is the effect. The growth of supply is faster than the growth of demand = less value of second hand sneaker market. It forces people to think, do I really need a hundred pairs. It was easy to accumulate before as secondary prices continued to trend up. Now, its very selective performance.

I've reduced my collection down from 200+ to about 50 pairs. It has taken awhile to get it down to that number, but I feel a lot better about it. I try and cop only the pairs that I really want, and avoid the fillers that creep into my closet every now and then. Just remember... "The more things that you own, the more they own you."

Usually when i get to about 6 to 7 pairs, i start thinking i have too many. I end up giving away 2 pairs of my least worn. 5 pairs is the sweet spot for me.

different sneaker every day for a month and then start over again. And
it's not too overwhelming. I'm a special education teacher, on my feet all day long, love
to go out for a 2 hour walk to relax form work... So, I change my shoes
during the day too. 2-3 times. My doctor recommended me this. Don't wear
the same sneakers for 10 hours but change after 3 for other sneakers with a different shape, different insole, different cushioning... It's better for
knees and back. And there are 5 beaters among them which I throw out as
soon as the insole gets worn through or the sole rubbs off. It's not good for the back and knees too when shoes are worn-out and the sole uses its shape my doctor said.

I like sneakers a lot but for someone like u I'm sure u have a bunch a cloths and u can't have a whole lot of cloths and 2 pairs of shoes so I would keep 15-20 pairs of essential black, white, grey,red and colors of shoes that you like to wear with your cloths

It is just what adults do. Basically, for these youtubers, they were dogs chasing cars. They caught the car, now 12 and 13 year olds are behind the wheel and are heading for the cliffs. The golden age is over, it is either sell the collection and move on or choose to stagnate, sell parody tees and exploit little kids like certain other individuals.

The crazy thing is...I have had upwards of 75 pairs at one time and whittled it down to around 30 because at the time I needed the money meet other needs and the priorities in my life changed. I really can appreciate the fact that my mindset is not wrong when I feel like sneakers are life but I'd rather do more with them as far as giving them away. Foamer thanks for just being real and transparent.
All of my sneakers are usually thrifted but I have a little over 10 in the collection. I try to wear them every now and again. I don't ever think I'll be on the same level as you!
Jordan 1 - casual everyday shoe
Ultra boost - running/training/feeling lazy kind of shoe
Other sport specific shoe (basketball shoes, cleats, etc) if you play sports
NMD - casual summer shoe
Timbs and/or other weatherproof shoe for winter or when it's raining
Pair of slides for travelling/beach
Pair of beaters for hiking or other outdoor activity which take a toll on shoes
I keep about 5 in my rotation. Then there is a beater pair, for doing yard and dirty tasks, and then a workout pair or two. So thats 8, plus a pair of workboots that are always within reach. Other than that, I have about 40 - 50 pairs that are DS and out of rotation.
The amount of kicks is what one feels comfortable with. Cool thing what your doing. Respect with a Samurai bow

I reached these crossroads about 4 years ago. Had over 250 pairs, and seemingly overnight something clicked where I just couldn't go on amassing pairs with no end in sight. Over time sold off about a little bit over 200 pairs, and kept about 40. Still more than enough, obviously (especially since I can't wear sneakers Monday through Friday). In terms of keeping up with the hobby, I tried (I stopped around the time that Nike brought back "Nike Air" on Jordans), but struck out on those handful of big releases, and no longer had the drive to keep up . . . I feel that it is one of those hobbies that you are either in the hunt, or on the sidelines.
I would love to have a really good collection but I am also all for starting fresh. I wish I was able to do that. I have a lot of stuff I want to get rid of to start fresh but none of my stuff has enough value to be able to get new stuff! Props to you tho foamie! It's not easy to do that!

I'm a Nike/Jordan size 13 and I'm just lookiing for a couple pairs of shoes... Mainly for comfortable everyday wear, but maybe a pair or 2 for basketball too.
3 for balling 2 dress shoes (but are jordans instead of leather shoes) 3 beaters, 3 for running, 7 for casual. 3 for collection. :)

I personally think that the amount depends on the person (timbs and all white air forces, running shoes, hoop shoes or 2 (indoor and outdoor) and i would prefer like 6-9 pairs of different colored shoes to fit styles outfits seasons and then your things like dress shoes, slides etc maybe some people prefer basic red blue black white and grey for shoes others branch out so it not definitely defined by a number more your styles obviously giving back is another huge thing i gave away 3 or 4 shoes i personally felt i didnt need (not beaten up either)
